  • Signature at Coombe Hill Manor, Kingston upon Thames
Signature at Coombe Hill Manor is an established home situated in the beautiful surroundings of Kingston-Upon-Thames. The home is purpose built and offers exceptional accommodation, which is affordable and of a very high standard. Headed up by a very experienced General Manager, the team at Coombe Hill Manor offers a very warm welcome to all - it is a care home like no other in the area.

Coombe Hill Manor is proud to offer two fully licensed restaurants, the menu being dictated by current residents and an in-house café for residents and visitors to enjoy afternoon tea and homemade cakes. There is also a large Wellbeing and Lifestyle Team which provide trips out, visiting speakers, performers and activities. There is also an in-house hair salon, spa and treatment room.

A typical one bedroom suite offers a bedroom and separate lounge and kitchen with a full en-suite wet room. It is unique in that the home offers double the space of most care homes and it is ideal for those wanting extra room or for couples who want to stay together. There are also smaller studios for those who prefer something more cosy. The rooms come unfurnished allowing residents to bring those special objects, which helps the settling in process.

Residents range from those who are relatively independent and still drive through to those who require full nursing, dementia or end of life care. Coombe Hill provides discreet support in a place which is not institutional and as much like home as possible.

My mother stayed at Coombe Hill Manor for two and a half years.
The staff were wonderful - nothing was ever too much trouble and they worked hard to give my mum a quality of life.
Everything else was great too, the facilities, the food, the activities and general approachability of staff.

All the staff are so friendly and are extremely caring. Nothing is too much bother. They have been excellent when my mum was getting over her knee replacement and recently when she has been poorly. The entertainment teams are fab and really good fun. Staff take the time to get to know residents families.
Food is excellent and residents are listened to via various forums and changes are made accordingly.

This is the most excellent home and more than you can wish for in a care home. Very friendly from beginning to end and extremely kind, caring staff who always appear eager and helpful whilst smiling and happy. The activities are good. The staff very understanding, professional and lively. The home is
very clean with a wonderful atmosphere. I cannot recommend it enough - truly excellent.

We are delighted with the loving care that our mother received in her final year of life. At all times staff were caring, respectful, interested in getting the most out of our mother by stimulating her in every way and generally making her life very happy. They were particularly interested in her Spanish
cultural background and made a point of linking things in her past with current activities (through music, faith etc).

We had not anticipated such intense care and attention to detail as they demonstrated. They also showed great patience and care when things became very difficult after a hospital stay. Their care really did go above and beyond the normal level that you would expect, and for that, we are so very grateful.

My mother has been a resident in the dementia unit for 2 and a half years, having previously been in another nearby home of very similar cost. The difference, particularly in the attitude of staff and standard of care, has been extremely impressive. The home is purpose built to a high standard with
great facilities and excellent food and accommodation.
The standard of care is outstanding, with a high staff to resident ratio and I cannot fault the caring approach and attitude. The staff are also very good at communicating with families, keeping in touch by phone or email, whenever appropriate.

My mother moved into Coombe Hill Manor's Augusta suite following the death of her husband, my father. The whole process from initial visit, to moving day and settling in period was handled with complete professionalism and compassion by the management and staff. My sister and I visited several alternative
providers before we decided and Coombe Hill Manor was easily the first choice. This was borne out over the two and a half years that my mother was a resident. The care she received was first class. The staff were caring to mum and welcoming to her family. The facilities are first rate. The catering is of excellent quality and variety. But really this place is about the staff who are excellent and really care about their residents. That is the most important consideration for family members placing their relatives into care and makes recommending Coombe Hill Manor very easy to do. Thank you to everyone for all that you did for mum.

I helped a lady to move in and was very happy to see staff giving her such a warm welcome to her new home - after all the worrying, it couldn't have gone any smoother. From the housekeeper to the handyman, everyone was available to assist with settling in - so she felt at home from the moment she arrived.
She can't meet up with me for several days now because of the wonderful activities she has signed up to!

Coombe Hill Manor is a different kind of care home. As soon as you walk through the gliding front doors to be greeted by smiling and courteous staff at the front desk, you are aware that this is a home from home for residents as opposed to a care home. Both residents and staff are relaxed and cheerful.
The ambience is that of a well run high grade hotel. The decor of apartments is calming and modern, while the communal areas and corridors are colour coded and welcoming. The facilities, including a fantastic art room are second to none and the food served in the two restaurants is delicious.

I am in no doubt that my mother is receiving the best possible attention and care by excellent staff who are always keen to help in an above average care home setting.

From an initial inquiry some months ago I found CHM extremely helpful, informative, caring and sensitive. No pressure to decide, just sound advice and guidance. My mother arrived for rest and recuperation and is so happy has decided to stay. The level of care from all staff is wonderful and cannot be
faulted.

My mother is very very happy at Coombe. She has made a whole new circle of friends and has many new interests since she moved there more than a year ago. She loves the staff and I am so pleased to know she is safe and well looked after. Following a recent hospital procedure my mother could not have
expected more concern and care whilst she was recovering. A great place to live she says.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.851)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.851) out of 10 for Signature at Coombe Hill Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.851 for Signature at Coombe Hill Manor is calculated as follows: ( (293 Excellents x 5) + (47 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 342 Ratings = 4.851
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Signature at Coombe Hill Manor is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 104 registered maximum number of service users is 20.8, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2015

Growing up in a family of three nurses, it felt only natural to follow in their footsteps. I qualified in South Africa after completing a four-year Integrated Nursing Course at Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town, becoming qualified in General Nursing, Midwifery, Psychiatry and Community Healthcare. Wanting to deepen my knowledge, I went on to specialise for an additional year in Mental Health.

After travelling and working across Europe, including Switzerland, Greece and Israel, I settled in the UK and spent 15 years with one of Bupa’s largest nursing homes, progressing through roles including Nurse, Clinical Services Manager, Training Coordinator and Deputy Manager. During this time, I studied Dementia at Kingston University, gained my mentorship qualification at City University, and led the home to achieve Gold Standards Framework Beacon status for End of Life Care, the highest accolade in this field, which the home continues to hold.

I joined Signature at Coombe Hill Manor as Care Services Manager and was appointed General Manager in June 2016. I am deeply passionate about resident care and ensuring the highest standards are reached and maintained. Every person in our community has a voice, and we are here to support their choices, respect their dignity, and provide the care they need to begin a new chapter at Coombe Hill Manor. Together with a wonderful team, we focus on creating meaningful moments, always asking, what else can we do, and providing true peace of mind for families.

Job Title: Residential Care Manager

I started my career in care after graduating from university in 2018, and I became a carer whilst figuring out what I wanted to do long term, but after a few weeks, I knew I wanted to progress my career in the care sector. Shortly after this, I became a Care and Training Practitioner, progressing to Care Coordinator and then became a Registered Branch Manager with the CQC in a span of 3 years in domiciliary care in Wimbledon. I absolutely loved making a difference to people’s lives every day in their homes, but I wanted to expand my knowledge and experience within the care home sector. Since the moment I walked into Coombe Hill Manor, I was greeted by smiles and warmth from team members and our residents. Truly, the residents are at the heart of everything here, and the team really care about making Coombe Hill a lovely place to live.
