Signature at Coombe Hill Manor is an established home situated in the beautiful surroundings of Kingston-Upon-Thames. The home is purpose built and offers exceptional accommodation, which is affordable and of a very high standard. Headed up by a very experienced General Manager, the team at Coombe Hill Manor offers a very warm welcome to all - it is a care home like no other in the area.

Coombe Hill Manor is proud to offer two fully licensed restaurants, the menu being dictated by current residents and an in-house café for residents and visitors to enjoy afternoon tea and homemade cakes. There is also a large Wellbeing and Lifestyle Team which provide trips out, visiting speakers, performers and activities. There is also an in-house hair salon, spa and treatment room.

A typical one bedroom suite offers a bedroom and separate lounge and kitchen with a full en-suite wet room. It is unique in that the home offers double the space of most care homes and it is ideal for those wanting extra room or for couples who want to stay together. There are also smaller studios for those who prefer something more cosy. The rooms come unfurnished allowing residents to bring those special objects, which helps the settling in process.

Residents range from those who are relatively independent and still drive through to those who require full nursing, dementia or end of life care. Coombe Hill provides discreet support in a place which is not institutional and as much like home as possible.

My aunt had a short period of respite care in February 2022. he was initially very unsettled but soon got into a happy routine and was very well looked after and cared for. We hope that she will be able to return as a resident shortly - she misses the routine, the great activities, and the kindness
of the staff, all of whom, she liked very much. The respite accommodation was clean, fresh and comfortable.

My mother moved into Signature from Scotland to be near family and settled very quickly. She is so happy and loves all the activities and social opportunities they provide. The staff are caring and enthusiastic and are willing to go the extra mile - my mother definitely considers them to be her friends.
The home has a wonderful, bright, cheery atmosphere, and it is a joy to visit her and eat their yummy cakes. On that note, the food is absolutely delicious. My mother looks forward to every meal and especially loves the soups. We couldn’t have asked for a better place for mum to be living in.
Reply from Tammy Sirilli, Client Liaison Manager at Signature at Coombe Hill ManorThank you for taking the time to submit your review. It is always lovely to hear positive feedback on a resident's stay that can be shared with other families considering care at Coombe Hill Manor. We will pass this onto our team.

My mum has been living at Coombe Hill manor for 6-years. She celebrated her 90th birthday there shortly after she moved in. She has had a delightful little 'flat' with a balcony, which she loved in the early days, as she is a very keen and gardener.
In the last year, she has been diagnosed with dementia
and has steadily declined, eventually, a couple of weeks ago, she was very confused, angry and aggressive. For me to witness, it was very upsetting and quite frightening, to be honest. She was not my old mum. The staff all handled this situation so calmly and carefully. This episode hastened our decision to move Mum into the Augusta wing of the home, where specialist dementia care is given.
Now two weeks later, my mum is almost back to her usual chatty and often cheeky self. She had to have some drugs to assist in calming her down for about 10-days, but these have now stopped, and she remains calm. She seems to me to be happier in this smaller, more contained environment.

Coombe Hill Manor has continued to provide excellent care over the last 18-months. They have coped with a pandemic, multiple lockdowns, staff shortages, and yet, have maintained such high standards.
I recently visited my mum in her own room after many many months. My visit was not prearranged, but
I was welcomed back with real warmth and remembered how wonderful the feeling of family is within the setting. It was clear that Mum had been cared for with dignity, gentleness and affection.

I came here for a respite break that I was in great need of. By three days later my initial reluctance had totally changed. 30 years of caring for patients (i was a dental hygienist) who were problem "babies" ie. adults, made me realise how much love and caring was given by all the staff here. Everywhere
looking around me I found the whole place to be very therapeutic.

My mother has just spent two weeks here for respite care, and we would both readily recommend a stay to others. Mum had been very poorly before her stay and was in need of both a physical and mental boost. The wonderful staff here provided both of these in caring and imaginative ways, she absolutely
adored her stay and when I picked her up after my holiday it was abundantly clear to me that she had made such a connection to both staff and residents and she had benefitted enormously.
The team were professional and caring, their personalities came through and they quickly got to know my mum and her needs.
She really enjoyed her one-bedroom flat that was fully equipped to meet her personal needs. She loved the huge range of activities on offer, including a trip to Box Hill and joined in with enthusiasm. The garden was a source of much delight and she was so pleased to win a cup for her volleyball performance in the home’s mini Olympics! Thank you for such a positive experience.

I chose Coombe Hill Manor to care for my sister. I saw many quality nursing/care homes. When I visited Coombe for the first time, I was so impressed by everything I was shown. It's a lovely building with lots of space for entertainment etc, and a congenial atmosphere. The most important feature was
all the lovely, kind and very devoted staff. They are all gentle and so kind - well trained and give the residents a lovely life. I am impressed and thrilled with everything.

The care and consideration given to residents are wonderful. Throughout this epidemic, the home has provided excellent care and sensible measures to protect the health of the residents. It has responded rapidly to government guidelines, providing opportunities to visit when possible - either in gazebos,
pods or through windows - ensuring that families can still see their relatives.

What can I say about this superlative care home that will resonate with those looking for the best in quality, care, dedication, affection, fun, genuine respect and inclusiveness even for those whose light shines dimly! The love that was given to my elderly mother, for the past two years, in the latter
stages of dementia has been phenomenal, across the board, from every level of staff, but to one particular lady, my thanks and gratitude know no bounds. You connected where we thought receptors had died, you found the link, you made her heart sing and eyes smile, you made her laugh with a shared naughtiness of humour, and I’m booking myself in – so don’t you dare retire! My best love and thanks to you and your exceptional team of “Angels without Wings”.

My sister has been in Coombe Manor for a year now, and from the start, she has been happy and content. We, as a family, found we were unable to guarantee her safety due to her dementia, but seeing how she is cared for and how much she has improved, we know it was the right decision. The staff are all
very caring and always helpful. One particular lady is a delight, such a lovely and talented lady.

The staff team at Coombe Hill have been exceptionally kind and diligent in dealing with the needs of the residents and their relatives with every effort being made to provide visiting access is as safe an environment as possible. It makes such a difference to my father being able to see me as his hearing

The team have been excellent since my mother moved in. Were extremely helpful during COVID to admit my mother and both co-ordinated this well in addition to going the extra mile to accommodate a complex move. They are generally well organised and clear in how they communicate with residents. The team
are very warm and welcoming and there is a very good community spirit in the home. Staff are friendly and take good care of the residents. This is a very well maintained home and facilities are excellent.

My mother has been a resident at Coombe Hill Manor for nearly 4 years. Over the period her care has been excellent and her well-being always at the forefront of the staff's approach to her. As her needs have changed and increased so has the care and attention she has been given. From management down,
the approach has been an active and positive engagement with both her and her family. Even in the exceptional circumstances created by COVID, the staff have used every opportunity to ease the stress it has caused and make contact with her from outside as available as possible either through video links or in-person visits. It has been my experience that Coombe Hill Manor aims to and manages to achieve the highest standards in care.

My father moved into Signature at Coombe Hill Manor in January 2020. He is 75 years old and suffers from advancing frontotemporal lobe dementia and has been unable to walk for five months. We were pleased when he was offered a place at this home, as having done extensive research and visited many homes
over the previous year, it was far and away our first choice. However, we were still apprehensive as to how he would react at being placed in a care home. We need not have worried though - the care and compassion he has received from Day one has been exemplary. He is always happy and contented when we see him, immaculately presented and obviously very well looked after. The staff are always courteous and kind and very respectful to him and the quality of care is excellent.

The care provided to my aunt has been exemplary and the staff have shown care, love and dignity to her. She has been encouraged to participate and attend all events which I have encouraged as I am a non-resident of the UK and therefore am not able to visit often. This has meant that my aunt is encouraged
to participate and be stimulated but without pressure. She has responded positively to any staff interaction when I have been there and this can only be genuine. I certainly feel, that in what is a difficult time of life, my aunt is getting all the respect and care due to her.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.851)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.851) out of 10 for Signature at Coombe Hill Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.851 for Signature at Coombe Hill Manor is calculated as follows: ( (293 Excellents x 5) + (47 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 342 Ratings = 4.851
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Signature at Coombe Hill Manor is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 104 registered maximum number of service users is 20.8, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I qualified in South Africa after completing a four-year Integrated Nursing Course at Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town, becoming qualified in General Nursing, Midwifery, Psychiatry and Community Healthcare. Wanting to deepen my knowledge, I went on to specialise for an additional year in Mental Health.

After travelling and working across Europe, including Switzerland, Greece and Israel, I settled in the UK and spent 15 years with one of Bupa’s largest nursing homes, progressing through roles including Nurse, Clinical Services Manager, Training Coordinator and Deputy Manager. During this time, I studied Dementia at Kingston University, gained my mentorship qualification at City University, and led the home to achieve Gold Standards Framework Beacon status for End of Life Care, the highest accolade in this field, which the home continues to hold.

I joined Signature at Coombe Hill Manor as Care Services Manager and was appointed General Manager in June 2016. I am deeply passionate about resident care and ensuring the highest standards are reached and maintained. Every person in our community has a voice, and we are here to support their choices, respect their dignity, and provide the care they need to begin a new chapter at Coombe Hill Manor. Together with a wonderful team, we focus on creating meaningful moments, always asking, what else can we do, and providing true peace of mind for families.

Job Title: Residential Care Manager

I started my career in care after graduating from university in 2018, and I became a carer whilst figuring out what I wanted to do long term, but after a few weeks, I knew I wanted to progress my career in the care sector. Shortly after this, I became a Care and Training Practitioner, progressing to Care Coordinator and then became a Registered Branch Manager with the CQC in a span of 3 years in domiciliary care in Wimbledon. I absolutely loved making a difference to people’s lives every day in their homes, but I wanted to expand my knowledge and experience within the care home sector. Since the moment I walked into Coombe Hill Manor, I was greeted by smiles and warmth from team members and our residents. Truly, the residents are at the heart of everything here, and the team really care about making Coombe Hill a lovely place to live.
