At Winchcombe Place, the team believes that living in a care home should be just as good as living in your own home – or better. The devoted lifestyle team pride themselves on organising fun activities, entertainment and outings for residents.
Fees are subject to a pre-admission needs assessment which is required to fully understand the level of care and support required by each individual. Premium rooms normally require an additional charge. Nursing fees include the Funded Nursing Contribution (FNC) if you are eligible.

Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply an agreed hourly charge for this service.

We are very sorry to hear that you were unhappy with the experience you received when your father’s body was being collected from the home. We have shared your comments with the staff and will ensure they act more sensitively when dealing with grieving relatives in the future. We do follow a protocol in the event that relatives would like to visit following a death. Our staff will make the deceased look peaceful and presentable and will then lock the room awaiting the collection of the deceased. We endeavour to have a staff member accompany relatives or the funeral directors to the room when they arrive but not to stay with the deceased prior to this as the timings can be unpredictable. Lovely home (like a 5-star hotel) with gentle, caring staff who supported us as a family. We were made to feel welcome and we could stay for meals which were lovely. The staff gave Dad so many choices and activities ie, trips out and pub nights and they really understood Dad's likes and dislikes....

They dealt wonderfully with Dad's end of life care, totally understanding the families wishes. They ensured that Dad had a peaceful and dignified death and we can't thank them enough.
This care home had the 'Wow' factor when we first looked round. The facilities are superb. However, it is the staff who made my aunts stay even more wonderful. They couldn't have done more for her or us to make it as homely as possible. They all go that extra mile - your customer service training...

Winchcombe Place is an excellent home for my father who is 90 but has all his faculties. The staff are caring, friendly and committed. I have already recommended it to others. The care staff are mindful of dad's dignity when bathing him. They have learned how he likes things done and accommodate him. The activity staff are very friendly and arrange singers to come in which he loves. Most of the activities however are female orientated or food orientated which doesn't suit him.

We would like him to move in on a more permanent basis, but it may take time for him to accept the move. Perhaps another 'respite' stay will be appropriate.

I have 30 years of experience working in care homes, and I was keen to join Care UK because of Winchcombe Place’s great reputation within the local community.
Before this, I was working as a Home Manager of a nursing home for residents living with dementia who required nursing care.
As Home Manager of Winchcombe Place, it’s important that I’m empathetic, a good listener and have good leadership skills. I ensure I’m always open and transparent and show my own learning when needed.
My favourite part of the day is walking around the home and talking to residents, relatives and colleagues. By spending time with residents, I find out what else we can be doing to enhance their lives.
I’m proud of my achievements, including a career highlight of turning a home from ‘Requires Improvement’ to ‘Good’ within six months. But I also feel fulfilled when I see my team enhancing the lives of residents or progressing in their careers. Seeing the residents smile and having a great quality of life also makes everything we do worth it.
The most important part of my role is ensuring the safety of the residents and all those who visit Winchcombe Place. As both a manager and someone who has had a loved one live in a care home, I have valuable experience seeing care homes from both sides.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy family walks with my beautiful cockapoo Lottie, cooking and travelling.
