This home is brilliant. The care that is provided for our relative is fantastic. The carers genuinely care for their residents and the nurses are diligent in their service too. Our relative feels safe and at home here. The activities get our relative moving and vocalising in the form of singing, dancing and gardening. The home facilitated them being able to watch the tennis during Wimbledon and organised fun activities around the World Cup Football. They get him walking in the garden as often as they can. They have learnt our relatives hobbies, likes and dislikes so as to attend to him in a way he feels seen, heard, dignified and validated. Penylan house is truly an exceptional care home.
Thank you so much for your beautiful and heartfelt review. Your kind words mean so much to our entire team. It is our privilege to care for your loved one. We are so pleased that you feel welcomed, informed, and reassured knowing he is receiving the care he deserves. Thank you for your trust and...
Furthermore the managers based at the home are very approachable. They genuinely listen to any concerns you may have, which are always dealt with on a prompt and professional manner. We are so incredibly grateful for the outstanding dignified support they give Mum every single day.
Thank you for your wonderful review. We are delighted to hear that your mum needs are met and she is well cared for, and that you have experienced the warm, community atmosphere that means so much to us. Your kind words about the team, management and the peace of mind this brings to your family are truly appreciated and will be shared with everyone here.
Cannot speak highly enough of the home & the care my mother is given. Nothing is too much trouble. All staff are always welcoming & friendly. The activities organised are excellent & varied. Mum has a lovely room & being able to keep her dog is appreciated so much as Missy is her constant companion - thank you.
Kind regards
Team Penylan
I cannot speak too highly of the care my mother has received since moving in. The staff are superb and nothing is too much trouble. A quality start to Mum's life in a lovely care home.

A great home, friendly staff and great care and support for my dad and us as a family!
Thank you so much for taking the time to complete a review. We work hard to create a warm and inviting homely setting for all our lovely residents and families and we are delighted that this has been your experience.
I had a 2 week respite care in Penylan House. My stay was very enjoyable. All the staff were happy, helpful and conscientious and always had a smile. Overall, my time spent at Hallmark Penylan House was excellent and a very happy time.
We would like to express our gratitude for your amazing feedback, which inspires all of us to keep up the work that we do. We wish you all the best for the future. Please keep in touch.
My mum arrived in the care home not well and very distressed. She is suffering from dementia. The nine months spent in the care home have seen a remarkable improvement in her health, her mood and her memory. She has gone from being aggressive and shouting, to back to being happy and healthy.
Thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to write this review. The team is happy to hear that you are pleased with the care provided to Mum. At Penylan House, we always strive to provide the best quality care possible and will continue to do so.
Excellent accommodation, first class and well-qualified nursing staff. Administration and support are first-rate and highly professional. Liaised effectively throughout her stay. So reassuring, given my residence in Surrey. Highly commended.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience with us. We're genuinely grateful for your feedback. We will be sure to share your comments with our team.
My mum took residence in Hallmark Penylan House last February. She was very poorly on admission, requiring 24 hour care and life expectancy low. In December, mum reached 88 years of age, if it weren't for this fabulous home I would have lost her. The staff are so warm and caring, when I visit they have become more like friends. What an exceptional care home!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. We are delighted to hear about the positive difference Penylan Family has made for Mum. It's wonderful to know that our caring and attentive Team have provided her with excellent care. We truly appreciate your kind words, I will be passing your feedback to the Team.
The carers do a fantastic job under sometimes very difficult circumstances.
Thank you.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. We've loved welcoming Mum and getting to know all of you. It's heart warming seeing Mum thrive.
My grandmothers care at the home is reflective of which staff are working each day which, although shouldn't be the case, does have an impact on the day to day. There are never problems in general, but her overall demeanor is noticeably improved on certain days. Any issues we have had have been dealt with by the staff on duty and my grandmother is very happy which is wonderful. Certain carers are exceptional and the entertainment and stimulation is fantastic, with live concerts, parties and events that are catered to all residents no matter their ailments and also family members.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. We've loved welcoming Nan in to Penylan House and getting to know all of you. It's heart-warming knowing Nan is very Happy.
Throughout the festive period the home was decorated beautifully inside and out. The tree even had embroidered stars with individual residents names on. Every week day there was entertainment, ranging from choirs, individual artists, music students from the university and even a pony dressed as Santa's helper. There were also festive activities, making tree decorations, baking and flower arranging. Nothing is too much trouble and every resident is involved in some way. So much thought and effort goes into organising these activities. There was also a Christmas fair, Christmas party and a New Year's Eve party where families all got together to celebrate. The whole home was involved in some way and the atmosphere was fabulous. There are activities throughout the year, most days in fact, but the team excelled over this wonderful festive time.
Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a wonderful review. We are pleased that you noticed the effort made by the team at Penylan House to make Christmas special for residents. We will continue to strive to provide care to the highest standards to all of our residents.
I have been visiting the care home for a number of years and believe my mother could not be in a better place for her current needs. From reception to care and of course the activities section, the staff are amazing and carry out a wonderful job. First class all, well done and thank you for all your dedication and effort.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review. We're thrilled to hear that you are pleased with the care your mother receives and that our team has made you feel welcome. We appreciate your feedback provided and appreciate the compliments expressed, which will be passed on to the team.
My experience of Penylan House is it's a very good nursing home. The staff are very welcoming and good at their job. The activities team go one step further to keep residents happy. They are amazing. This is the right environment for my husband. Food is of an excellent standard. Penylan House garden is beautiful.
We sincerely appreciate your kind words. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this lovely review. I will be sure to pass your comments in the the whole Team to continue providing the best care possible.
The care she received there was exemplary in every respect. Every single member of staff was warm, caring, efficient and kind. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them. As a visitor, I was treated with equal kindness and concern.
I would not hesitate to recommend Penylan House. The facilities are great - even the artwork in the corridors is the real deal but it was the staff who made the place so outstanding.
Thank you for your kind words. It is important to us all that families and residents alike feel reassured that they are receiving the care they need. I will pass your lovely comments to our Team. We are pleased that you have time to look to the artwork displayed around our Home, as some pieces have been created by residents and proudly displayed for everyone to enjoy.
My husband was treated with dignity and the staff were friendly, respectful and very caring and made it extremely comfortable for him. He is hoping to go back again in the near future. Thank you for all your kindness to me and my husband.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us your comments. We are really glad to hear that your loved one felt well accommodated and welcomed at our home. I will pass your comments on to the whole Team. We are looking forward to seeing you again.
Penylan Care Home is a welcoming, safe place for your loved one. My father has been a Dementia resident here for 1 year and I cannot thank the staff enough for the care they have given him. It's a huge relief for us knowing that he is in a place that not only caters for his needs but respects his boundaries. The staff work hard and are always professional. There are daily activities for the residents and we love looking at the photos, seeing how the residents engage. Families are always welcomed and we've certainly become part of the furniture!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your review. Our team works hard to create a warm and supportive environment for all our residents and their families, we love when relatives join our activities and visit the home. I will share your kind words with the entire team.
My mother has been a resident for over 2.5 years and we could not have wished for a better home for her to be in. They have cared for her continuously and always encourage her to participate in activities which they have plenty of during the week.
At the forefront of the staff's mind at Penylan is resident care first and foremost. Each member is friendly, empathetic and out to do their best for the residents.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're so glad to hear that your mother is receiving the care and support she needs at Penylan House. It's heartening to know that she feels well-cared for and that the staff has created a safe and comfortable environment for her. We appreciate your kind words about our team's dedication and we will be passing your thoughts to our team.
I live abroad and am unable to make frequent physical visits, so video calls are an excellent medium which, I think, may have started during the pandemic.
On the occasions when I have visited the home I have found the staff to have been friendly, welcoming and professional in a very demanding environment.
Regarding my mother's care - there are two incidents which stand out - one was the chance to ride the double bicycle, something I never thought she would do again and a visit to the ice rink; my mother would have done both activities when she was younger.
My mother has been exposed to a number of new experiences at the home - particularly the multicultural events and celebrations - something she would not have encountered had she been living at home.
The staff have gone over and above what is expected of them to enrich the lives of the residents.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are very humbled by your kind words. We are very happy that you are pleased with the care and support your mum has been given. Your lovely review and comment will be passed on to the team. Seeing her take part in so many things now is lovely to see. We are happy, as a family, you feel reassured and have peace of mind.
Excellent care and service are provided by professional and caring staff. Lots of activities are organised to keep residents interested, happy and active. Mental and physical health are closely monitored, and we are kept fully informed of issues, concerns and what we can do to help. Staff are always willing to act on suggestions from us. So happy that they are happy and thriving.
Thank you so much for your lovely review of Penylan House. All of our staff are committed to providing excellent care. I will pass on your comments to all staff.

Meet the Team (4)

My previous profession in Zimbabwe was a camera operator. To be a healthcare professional was never in my mind, however, I have always had attributes of caring nature, giving time to listen, and offering respect to any human being. This led to one of my friends, years ago, to suggest that l should consider a support work role whilst in the UK. At that time, I was very reluctant and assumed that l would only be driving people around for social activities etc., This proved to be a game changer in my life, as l found working with people with mental health issues and learning difficulties in the community rewarding and fulfilling. At this point l noticed that it was not just a job but a ‘’calling’’. I then started my training from level 3 NVQ going through access to nursing then completing BSC 1st class degree in Mental Health Nursing.
I joined Penylan House in January 2020 with the intention of getting a short break from a high-intensity work environment. I have worked in different mental health hospitals, from older adults to mental health intensive care units. I decided to explore my experience in working with older adults which was the driving force for me to join Penylan House Nursing Home as a short-term measure. However, this proved me wrong as l fell in love with working with older adults. I am committed in providing high-quality care in a safe environment like Penylan Nursing Home. I am a passionate, motivated and resident-focused Nurse or Registered Manager possessing an in-depth knowledge of the principles, methods and procedures for diagnosis and treatment. In addition, a responsible self-starter with good interpersonal and communication skills be it in a leadership setting or working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team. As the Manager of Penylan House, l solemnly promise that l will foster respecting residents autonomy and dignity while treating residents as customers exercising choices.

I have worked at Penylan House for 2 years 6 months. I love the job I do I am very committed to my work. I enjoy building relationships with residents, staff and relatives.

Until 2014 I worked as a community volunteer, which included helping my elderly neighbours out. One of them came to Penylan House and I used to visit them there. I was very impressed with the home and applied for a job here, so I started in 2014 as a part-time night care assistant. As well as having NVQ levels 2 and 3 in social care, I studied fine arts in Mexico, where I was born, and I’ve always had a passion for art and painting, I apply my skills supporting residents with meaningful activities, which I’ve been doing since 2016. I received a silver award in the promoting fulfilled lives category, from Wales Care Awards 2022.

Here at Penylan House, I am the first point of contact for prospective new residents and their loved ones.
I joined Hallmark Luxury Care Homes in November 2024, and although I’m new to the care sector, my background in hospitality management fuels my passion for connecting with people. I’m here to help ease any worries you may have and walk you step by step through the process of moving into your new home.
I am proud to be a part of the Penylan House team and look forward to welcoming you and your loved ones to the home.
