Homefield Grange is home from home for my partner. She enjoys a large bright en-suite bedroom. It has a radio, TV and her own pictures on the walls making it feel very personal.
The staff are very professional, caring, cheerful and kind
My partner, who has dementia, came to the home nearly three years
and has been well looked after. She is very popular with the staff.
Homefield Grange Care-home is not perfect, but everyone is working hard to get it there.
The reception staff are fantastic.

My parents came into Homefield in July 2018, sadly my Father passed away shortly after and my Mother has been at Homefield ever since. She is a well known character amongst the residents and is treated with understanding and good humour bearing in mind her failing memory and somewhat demanding nature.

The main meals that I have seen have been excellent. The staff are all always friendly and welcoming when visiting or on the phone.
Understandably a very difficult time at the moment (March 2021), so have based this review on my last visits when Mum was extremely poorly - she has now recovered remarkably, no doubt thanks to the care and attention she has been given at Homefield.

Mum has been at Homefield for nearly two years and the care she has received has been excellent. The staff are friendly, efficient and treat residents with respect and dignity. Her health needs are always met in a timely manner and her room kept clean and tidy. We are always made welcome to visit,
our questions are answered and nothing seems too much trouble.
The last year has put a great deal of strain on all staff and is to the credit of all that the high level of service delivered has been maintained in the face of considerable adversity.

We moved our elderly father who has Alzheimer's to Homefield Grange on a permanent basis after a poor experience in a previous care home. The change in his personal care and overall health, as a result, has markedly changed for the better. We really appreciate the dedication of the staff and management
in dealing with any concerns we have for our fathers well being and personal needs. Homefield Grange is a clean, open, welcoming, safe and pleasant home for all the residents and visitors alike. My father's room is large, light, clean, with en-suite bathroom and very well decorated which puts him at ease. The dining room feels more like a restaurant rather than a canteen often found in other homes. He says he enjoys the food and relevant foods are prepared for his dietary needs. The staff are very kind and patient with him and he enjoys the banter and company provided by the staff and activities team. We have no major concerns and fully recommend the care provided at Homefield Grange.

I have been delighted with the care received by my mother. The carers are extremely patient and attentive while maintaining a necessary good sense of humour; in very often difficult times!
When I visit my mother, I find her cheerful and enjoying watching life go by, which when she was at home, she
was not able to do.
Well done to all the staff, especially during this difficult time!

They know all the resident's name, even management. They not only support the residents, they support the families as well. Everybody greets you with a smile even the cleaners, lovely atmosphere. The place is spotless. The only thing I could complain about is the lack of parking spaces, but a minor
issue.

We made a decision in February to transfer the care of our 91 year old father to respite care in Homefield Grange following the advice of the Consultant at the Eye Hospital due to his failing eyesight, a decision that we did not take lightly as Dad really wanted to stay in his own home.
Dad settled
in well and following a family discussion we decided Dad should be looked after permanently at Homefield.
Unfortunately, already frail, Dad was hit by the Norovirus and unable to fight infections passed away peacefully on April 18th with his family at his side.
We would like to take this opportunity to commend the team, led by an excellent manager, on the amazing care that was given, not only to our father during the short time he was resident but also to the rest of our family. Nothing was too much trouble and we really appreciated everyone's love and support.
We would certainly recommend Homefield Grange to anyone requiring home care for an elderly relative.

The home has improved vastly in the last few months.
With the advent of a new manager all aspects of the home have progressed to a far higher standard.
The vast majority of staff are exceptional.
They work as a team for the good of the residents and involve the families.
It is a very welcoming and
warm environment.
Well done to the manager and the whole team.

My mother has been a resident for two years, suffering from increasing dementia. She always appears happy, well dressed and clean. The staff are all so friendly and caring and understand her condition. I feel very relaxed in the knowledge that she is well cared for and can even take a holiday knowing
all will be well in my absence.

My mother Dorothy had been in your care for approximately six months before passing away peacefully on 27 November 2017. I visited her from Australia in June 2017 for a few days as I was aware she was terminally ill. Previously she had been looked after by my brother but things became too much for him
and she was being badly neglected. Fortunately, my niece visited and considered she had to take charge due to her obvious neglect. She managed to get her a place in your care home and she was immediately transformed. When I saw her she was a changed and happy person. She asked me if I could believe her change in conditions. After returning to Australia I continued to have phone contact with her as and when I could and was happy she was being looked after so well. I was able to have peace of mind knowing she was being looked after as well as possible and was visited by my niece and son regularly. She reached her 94th birthday and passed away free of pain. God bless you all and thank you.

I was impressed by the building, the decor and the variety of facilities on offer, but most of all by the care, attention and respect that all the staff showed to the residents. My relative is very relaxed here and her agitation has gone. Her memory has improved and her sense of humour has returned.
She has been accommodated in a number of placements over the last year and Homefield stands out for its quality of care.

My mother, aunt and uncle have all been residents at one time or another. My uncle still is. The home is well run and he is happy. I live abroad, but the staff remember me when I do visit and I always feel that the welcome is as genuine for me as it is for the residents. To know my family have been
and are being cared for when one is far away is gold dust.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.704)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.704) out of 10 for Homefield Grange Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.704 for Homefield Grange Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (182 Excellents x 5) + (50 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 243 Ratings = 4.704
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Homefield Grange Care Home is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
