Willows Care Home is a friendly and modern nursing home in a pleasant residential area of Romford. The home provides person-centred nursing, dementia and palliative care, as well as short-term care for people who need some looking after following a stay in hospital or whose family/carers are temporarily unable to look after them.

Willows has been designed to offer all the facilities that residents need while retaining a warm and homely atmosphere. There are 72 bright and spacious bedrooms spread over three floors. Each is comfortably furnished and has an adjustable automatic bed, nurse-call system and a TV.

All rooms have ensuite or wet room facilities and large windows. Some ground floor rooms also have French windows opening onto the garden. Residents are encouraged to personalise their room with pictures, family photographs and ornaments of their choice.

Each floor has a team of nursing and care staff that is available 24/7, supported by dedicated teams of chefs, activities, administration, housekeeping and cleaning staff.

The communal areas provide plenty of space for residents to entertain their guests, who are always welcome to stop by for a chat. There is also a dining room and lounge on each floor where residents can gather for meals and group activities or socialising. As maintaining a homely feel is important, the lounge can be arranged to suit residents' preference for quiet time as well.

There is free Wi-Fi as well as lift access throughout, and both the home and the garden are wheelchair accessible. The home’s dedicated on-site salon provides regular hairdressing services.

The large, landscaped garden at Willows offers plenty of seating space to enjoy in pleasant weather when the ‘garden café’ provides residents and guests with tea and fresh pastries.

This review relates to the second floor, dementia residents. The home is purpose built and only four years old.
Private car park, 'fob' entry, security guard, two lifts per floor.
Reception; Welcoming, visitor book, always someone around.
Rooms; decor is good spec and calm colours.
Kitchen; Very
accommodating, good food and service.
The majority of carers are good, one or two excel at caring.
Agency staff tend to not be good enough! A 'carer' that doesn't 'care' needs to get a job elsewhere.

Our experiences of Willows Care Home have been extremely satisfactory. Our mother has advanced dementia and can be very unpredictable and demanding. However, she has settled in remarkably well and we have nothing but praise for the staff member we have come into contact with. They show great patience
empathy and skill in dealing with our mother. She has formed a very strong relationship with one particular staff member who has shown enormous amounts of compassion and understanding - we would like to thank all staff but feel very grateful in particular to this one staff member.

Both my mother and myself/family are extremely happy with the service provided by The Willows. My mother has settled in really well and has progressed well since her admittance and has made lots of friends with both the staff and the residents. I feel reassured knowing my mother is in good hands here.
The staff are very efficient and the standard and quality are very high. It's clean, friendly and food quality is very good. We made a good choice in choosing The Willows for my mother and seeing her safe, settled and happy we couldn't ask for more. I would recommend The Willows to people if they were looking for a residential care home.

I am so happy with the care and support from nurses and carers at Willows Care Home. My mum has been a resident here since July 2016 and I was very anxious about placing mum in a home. But I had nothing to worry about as the care that mum has been given is excellent. I can go home and rest assured that
mum is in good hands. Thanks to all the staff at Willows. Keep it up.

Very happy with The Willows. The staff, from the most senior to the most junior, are great. My husband, who can be very difficult, is treated with respect and efficiency, but also with care and great kindness. My only complaint is that a few more staff could be employed to help those already there,
who are extremely busy at all times.

After viewing numerous homes Willows Care Home was our final viewing we cannot thank the management and staff for making dad's final days so comfortable and homely and especially making us all as a family feel blessed to of found Willows the home from home

We have found the staff to be pleasant and helpful. The facilities are excellent including the laundry service. The rooms are cleaned regularly to a high standard. The nursing and caring staff are very approachable if you have any concerns.

My grandad stayed here for nearly 4 weeks as respite due to deterioration in health. I cannot fault the care my grandad received during this time and how comfortable he appeared. All staff very friendly and very welcoming any time of the day. Staff in charge always informed us of any doctors visits
etc. Very clean and tidy home.

My mother was a resident at the Willows in Romford Road for several months prior to her death in hospital after suffering a stroke. During her stay my brother visited on a daily basis and always found the staff to be engaged and attentive, providing mum with a safe secure and clean environment. Her
personal needs were adequately catered for and the carers went out of their way to develop a friendly personal relationship with her. There were some early issues with inconsistent management which reflected in previous CQC reports, but this now appears to have been resolved The current CQC report acknowledges there is currently good/safe practice but is unable to upgrade its report as this needs to be demonstrated over consecutive visits. In my view the facilities are amongst the best in the area and I recommend anyone considering the Willows for a parent or relative pays visit and makes up their own mind for themselves.
