Willows Care Home is a friendly and modern nursing home in a pleasant residential area of Romford. The home provides person-centred nursing, dementia and palliative care, as well as short-term care for people who need some looking after following a stay in hospital or whose family/carers are temporarily unable to look after them.

Willows has been designed to offer all the facilities that residents need while retaining a warm and homely atmosphere. There are 72 bright and spacious bedrooms spread over three floors. Each is comfortably furnished and has an adjustable automatic bed, nurse-call system and a TV.

All rooms have ensuite or wet room facilities and large windows. Some ground floor rooms also have French windows opening onto the garden. Residents are encouraged to personalise their room with pictures, family photographs and ornaments of their choice.

Each floor has a team of nursing and care staff that is available 24/7, supported by dedicated teams of chefs, activities, administration, housekeeping and cleaning staff.

The communal areas provide plenty of space for residents to entertain their guests, who are always welcome to stop by for a chat. There is also a dining room and lounge on each floor where residents can gather for meals and group activities or socialising. As maintaining a homely feel is important, the lounge can be arranged to suit residents' preference for quiet time as well.

There is free Wi-Fi as well as lift access throughout, and both the home and the garden are wheelchair accessible. The home’s dedicated on-site salon provides regular hairdressing services.

The large, landscaped garden at Willows offers plenty of seating space to enjoy in pleasant weather when the ‘garden café’ provides residents and guests with tea and fresh pastries.

My mum is a long-term resident. The current manager has made a huge difference to the overall improvement in the running of the home. Long may she reign!
It has been a very difficult couple of years for the home due to Covid but I have been very impressed by how well they have managed the crisis and
how accommodating they have been in allowing family members to visit - much more than many homes.

This home excels in all areas. Accommodation, food, activities, but above all the care and compassion shown by the staff! The home is expertly managed to ensure that all residents are catered for individually resulting in all their needs being met. My wife's aunt has quite complex needs due to her Parkinson's
and anxiety issues that are managed expertly by the staff. I have no hesitation whatsoever in thoroughly recommending Willows Care Home.

Willows is always clean and the staff friendly.
Communication is sometimes difficult, particularly telephone calls to residents who cannot manage their own mobile or telephone.
They do have an excellent standard that if a resident has to go to hospital as an emergency a carer from Willows will accompany
them, ambulance and A & E waits are so long this has been a great comfort to family and resident alike. There is a good activity schedule for residents who are able to participate and a lovely garden.

My dad came to Willows at the end of January and transitioned from the hospital on end of life.
In the time spent at Willows, he has now realised that Willows is an extension of his own family. The care that has been shown to my dad has been no more than above and beyond.
Only in the last couple
of days did the manager ask my dad for the last wish that she could support my dad with what he would like, and it was to be able to go outside into the garden with some of his family. Without hesitation, the manager supported the family to make this happen and a tea garden party was put together. My dad was overwhelmed with appreciation. We thank you so much.

My relative currently has numerous problems as a result of her progressing illness, however, the staff and management always address her needs with sincere compassion. They take time to listen to her, discuss any issues she has and in doing so provide the very best of care. When I am not able to visit
I can routinely keep up to date with her daily care by reading the online journal which is an excellent source of information. The carers and nurses are a well lead team as a result of excellent management.

My aunt passed away very recently. During her time at Willows, she was well looked after and treated with care, dignity and respect. The environment was pleasant and homely and visitors were made very welcome. My aunt didn't participate in all the activities, leaving her to enjoy watching. She could

I am really happy with the care the Willows Care Home provides for my mother. My mother has been living at the Willows since April 2018. She had a challenging behaviour due to Alzheimer's disease and no other care home agreed to take her. Only the Willow's had a highly professional staff to handle her
behaviour. I can't say enough how kind and caring everyone is there. They look after my mother like after a family member. The care home is always clean, the food is good, they provide snacks and drinks between the main meals. All services are well organised. They have a busy event schedule. Unfortunately, my mother couldn't really benefit from the events as her mental capacity was gone. But my mother-in-law that moved in last year and is in full mental capacity really enjoys all the events. We feel really lucky having our mothers living in the Willows Care Home.

My mum stayed in this home for two week's respite last August. Her dignity was not respected, she was not treated as an individual. Mum always looked dishevelled, hair not combed when visited most days. Her dietary needs were not met. Health and safety repairs to her room were not done. The bedding
was not good quality and furniture of a basic standard. Mum's room had no heating even on cold days. We complained continuously but very little changed. Staff don't interact with residents in the main seating room, they just observe and in our opinion lacked training in dementia. The manager’s response to our written complaint was dismissive and full of denial, about our mum’s very poor experience. She got the dates of our mum’s stay completely wrong by two months. She even refused to take responsibility for many areas of our complaint. This home is the most expensive that we viewed at the time. However even though that wasn’t why we chose it, Mum did not receive the level of care expected.

Willows is a very well-led and well-run home with an approachable and responsive management team. All the staff and management are very welcoming, friendly and dedicated, and they obviously care about Mum and the other residents they look after. The home is modern, and residents' rooms and communal
areas are kept clean, bright and airy. Mum has been a resident at the Willows for over four years, and she and we know she is safe, generally happy (taking into account her medical condition) and in good hands. We'd have no hesitation in encouraging other families seeking a care home for their relative to actively consider The Willows.

My father has been in the Willows care home for approximately two months now. Everyone seems very friendly. He is bedbound so can't join in in any activities provided but this doesn't bother him. The only problem l have come across is some clothes not being returned to him.
As long as my father is
happy then so am l. He is getting the care and attention that he needs and that's what matters most.

Management is a joke. Rude and unhelpful. Wouldn’t put my worst enemy in here. No one seems to know what’s going on. They don’t do what they say they will do. It’s understaffed as all homes are. It’s just awful.

My mother-in-law has been a resident of Willows Care Home for 3-years, and she is happy there; she is suffering from dementia, so it is a bit difficult to gauge her feelings. I have no complaints about her treatment and care. The home has done very well dealing with the Covid problem.

Willows is a well-led, well-run home. It is clean and comfortable, the care is exemplary and they have excellent working relationships with outside health providers (GPs, Chiropodists, Dentists, etc).
During the extremely challenging Covid-19 pandemic Willows have been able to maintain a safe environment
for the residents and infections have been kept down to a minimal level.
When asked for an opinion on Willows my normal response is that it would be hard to think of any way the quality of the home could be improved.

Lovely environment with helpful and caring staff who treat the residents with respect. Staff are patient, kind and caring. Couldn't hope for better care for my father. Despite his degenerative condition, he seems much happier and more communicative since being here as the staff really take the time

When I arrived at Willows Care Home, I was made to feel welcome straight away. The staff here have been absolutely fantastic, and they have tried their best to help me in almost everything that I have asked of them. Before I came here for respite following my operation, I was falling over every day.
If I had not had the help that was offered and given to me I am certain without a doubt that I would have lost one of my lower legs that got infected before here.

My Dad came here after discharge from hospital due to not being able to return to his previous care home. Willows Care Home are amazing at communicating with us as a family and always available to speak to and answer questions about my Dad. The overall appearance and atmosphere in Willows is amazing,
all staff are professional and friendly. There are many differences (that are all positive) in comparison to other care facilities immediate consideration and referrals have been made on behalf of my Dad.

Staff were kind. Looked after my every need. Under the circumstances, it was as comfortable an environment as one could hope for. The staff are all exceptional people who show the utmost respect and compassion to all the residents, irrespective of the reasons for being placed at Willows. I thought the
observance of the current Covid restrictions, including visitors, was meticulous, thorough and adhered to at all times. All staff, particularly senior nurses and management looked after me impeccably even though I was there for rehabilitation, rather than full-time and permanent care. Thank you again to all of you.

We selected Willows Care Home as another member of the family had stayed there. Although my Father's stay was short as he was on 'end of life' care, I found both the home and staff caring and attentive to my Father's demanding needs. I would thoroughly recommend it to other families. I would also like

My late mum was always treated with dignity and respect. I was reassured that Mum was safe during lockdown periods. I pay tribute to the staff at Willows Care Home who kept the home Covid free. There were no Covid related deaths during the 18 months that Mum was resident at the Willows. Some staff members
even became friends with my mum. I was always treated with respect and warmth too. My only disappointment is that alternative arrangements were not made for Mum to be visited by an optician and dentist.

Dear Richard, thank you for your feedback. Your mum was a greatly recognised character at Willows and we are all missing her very much. As you stated, during Covid-19 the team have worked really hard to keep everyone safe and they were successful with that. Sadly, some guidelines did restrict us previously from having non-urgent professionals into the home. We are hoping to be able to fully allow more professional and visitors to come to the home, once is safe and the guidelines permit us to do so.
