Overall Experience

Willows Care Home is a terrific place to stay in, whatever your reason. The care staff are the best and everyone is excellent. Nothing is too much for them to handle. If you are able, and interested, there are activities to visit and participate in. Or you can just sit and watch. The Activity Staff will keep you amused every day, twice a day! The Catering staff are very helpful: if you do not fancy anything on the daily menu, they will try to assist you with something else. But do remember there are other residents to consider, so 70 different meals would be an impossible task! The lovely people in charge are the best! I will not mention individual staff in each case, too many.

Willows is well-run and family-friendly having daily activities run by the wellbeing team and also having days out and various trips to the seaside and shows and evening events for both residents and relatives. All staff are very professional and caring.

On the whole very happy with Willows and the staff. As the manager has recently been appointed and was at the home prior to the appointment I have no doubt or hesitation that it will continue to be managed very well.
I would like to see the home decorated as some rooms are looking a little tired but understand this is in the pipeline. There could also be an improvement in the food which is not always hot.
My only other concern is the annual increase which, year on year, has been quite substantial.

Overall would recommend it.

My mother has been in respite for 3 months from Feb 2024 to the end of April 2024. Mum has been coming to Willows for the past 6/5 years and it’s like Willows has become our extended family. Everybody is absolutely wonderful, so caring, understanding and they are there for you when you need that extra help. A massive thank you Willows. See you all again soon.

Generally we are very happy with the service from Willows Care Home. In particular, the receptionists are very friendly and helpful, making us always feel welcome. We asked for a change of room and this was done quickly and efficiently. The staff appear to be very caring and treat the residents with dignity. Everywhere is very clean. If we have any issues, we are able to speak to the relevant person and these are resolved quickly and easily.
On the second floor, it's a shame that there isn't a room to take my mother-in-law when we are just visiting for a chat - there is a room on each of the other floors. It may be confusing for her to come down to the ground floor to use the new visitors' room.

We met with the activities organiser who was open to suggestions and happy for us to volunteer to help. We are a little disappointed that she is not allowed to have her piano in her room, as music has always been such a big part of her life.

My experience since my mum became a resident in March of this year has been positive. She is receiving excellent care in a lovely environment. Being bedridden she cannot experience all the facilities/activities on offer, unfortunately. Staff are helpful and very willing to answer any questions we have as a family. Mum’s transition from hospital to Willows has been smooth and trouble-free - due to the professional, considerate attitude of the Willows team.

The carers were excellent and the two nurses in charge of my floor were exceptional. You changed the caterers a few weeks after my admission, the original ones were better in my honest opinion. Not happy my room had no shower or toilet with grab rails, which meant toilet was unable to be used. But a good overall experience.

My mum has now been a resident at Willows for over three and a half years. I really cannot say how grateful I am for the care my mum received during that time. The patience and care shown by all the staff is amazing. It truly makes the difficult situation of dealing with a loved one who has dementia that much easier. Thank you all for all you do.

Staff do their best but there is not enough of them. My relative says the food is disgusting and I have spoken with other residents who say the same thing. I have seen the food and have to agree it does not look appetising. Generally, the staff seem very caring but there is the odd one or two who just don’t seem to care. I can see this in the way my relative is towards them.

My mum was admitted to Willows in October 2023, due to mum having terminal cancer that had gone to live on her own. The staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble for them. My mum came to Willows Care Home from the hospital due to neglect at her previous care home.
I was immediately struck by how helpful and friendly the staff were. We were all made to feel very welcome from the very beginning. The team are always approachable and answers any concerns that I have, (which I must say I am probably overly anxious about the care that my mum is receiving after our experience from her previous home).
I must give a special mention to a particular member of staff as she has been so helpful to us as a family. She will always find time to answer any concerns that I have and is very kind, warm and approachable.
Willows is very clean, the quality of food is amazing and the whole team are very kind friendly and approachable at any time.
Could go on and on about the qualities of Willows but have run out of space.

Overall we have had an excellent experience with everyone from the reception staff all the way through to management. Would highly recommend Willows as a fantastic care home.

My mum has been in Willows for just over 3 years, she is in final stages of dementia, so can't really be included in the activities. She has been well cared for, she has 24-hour supervision. The home is kept very clean and the nurses in overall charge of Mum's unit are caring and providing excellent support. The carers do a fantastic job.

I've recommended a few people to the home and wouldn't hesitate to recommend anyone else who is looking for a high level of care.

My wife is well looked after in the Home. The carers are very caring and know how to care for her needs.

The home is well kept, and they are constantly cleaning. There are activities unfortunately my wife can't participate in. I have recommended two friends to the home. I have my own fob to get into the home and can visit when I like. I have no complaints and can see my wife is well looked after.
