Willows Care Home is a friendly and modern nursing home in a pleasant residential area of Romford. The home provides person-centred nursing, dementia and palliative care, as well as short-term care for people who need some looking after following a stay in hospital or whose family/carers are temporarily unable to look after them.

Willows has been designed to offer all the facilities that residents need while retaining a warm and homely atmosphere. There are 72 bright and spacious bedrooms spread over three floors. Each is comfortably furnished and has an adjustable automatic bed, nurse-call system and a TV.

All rooms have ensuite or wet room facilities and large windows. Some ground floor rooms also have French windows opening onto the garden. Residents are encouraged to personalise their room with pictures, family photographs and ornaments of their choice.

Each floor has a team of nursing and care staff that is available 24/7, supported by dedicated teams of chefs, activities, administration, housekeeping and cleaning staff.

The communal areas provide plenty of space for residents to entertain their guests, who are always welcome to stop by for a chat. There is also a dining room and lounge on each floor where residents can gather for meals and group activities or socialising. As maintaining a homely feel is important, the lounge can be arranged to suit residents' preference for quiet time as well.

There is free Wi-Fi as well as lift access throughout, and both the home and the garden are wheelchair accessible. The home’s dedicated on-site salon provides regular hairdressing services.

The large, landscaped garden at Willows offers plenty of seating space to enjoy in pleasant weather when the ‘garden café’ provides residents and guests with tea and fresh pastries.

My mum has now been a resident at Willows for over three and a half years. I really cannot say how grateful I am for the care my mum received during that time. The patience and care shown by all the staff is amazing. It truly makes the difficult situation of dealing with a loved one who has dementia

Excellent care of my dad who has Alzheimer's. He is treated with care and respect at all times, even when he is presenting with difficult behaviours. He is encouraged to take part in a range of activities. Staff are very welcoming snd supportive of family.

Staff do their best but there is not enough of them. My relative says the food is disgusting and I have spoken with other residents who say the same thing. I have seen the food and have to agree it does not look appetising. Generally, the staff seem very caring but there is the odd one or two who just
don’t seem to care. I can see this in the way my relative is towards them.

My mum was admitted to Willows in October 2023, due to mum having terminal cancer that had gone to live on her own. The staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble for them. Mum was very fond of them and they were of her. They also supported me and my family. Overall, an amazing home would recommend
it.

Marvellous caring and couldn’t be more helpful. All staff seemed to really care about residents and the manager could not do enough to help. I found Willows to be so supportive and could contact at anytime night or day, really could not fault the care.

My mum came to Willows Care Home from the hospital due to neglect at her previous care home.
I was immediately struck by how helpful and friendly the staff were. We were all made to feel very welcome from the very beginning. The team are always approachable and answers any concerns that I have, (which
I must say I am probably overly anxious about the care that my mum is receiving after our experience from her previous home).
I must give a special mention to a particular member of staff as she has been so helpful to us as a family. She will always find time to answer any concerns that I have and is very kind, warm and approachable.
Willows is very clean, the quality of food is amazing and the whole team are very kind friendly and approachable at any time.
Could go on and on about the qualities of Willows but have run out of space.
Overall we have had an excellent experience with everyone from the reception staff all the way through to management. Would highly recommend Willows as a fantastic care home.

My mum has been in Willows for just over 3 years, she is in final stages of dementia, so can't really be included in the activities. She has been well cared for, she has 24-hour supervision. The home is kept very clean and the nurses in overall charge of Mum's unit are caring and providing excellent
support. The carers do a fantastic job.
I've recommended a few people to the home and wouldn't hesitate to recommend anyone else who is looking for a high level of care.

The staff at the Willows Care Home provide excellent support and care for my mother, I could not fault them in everything they do to care for my mother. The floor care team are always friendly and helpful as are the management team who always ask how our visits with my mother have been with genuine

My wife is well looked after in the Home. The carers are very caring and know how to care for her needs.
The home is well kept, and they are constantly cleaning. There are activities unfortunately my wife can't participate in. I have recommended two friends to the home. I have my own fob to get into
the home and can visit when I like. I have no complaints and can see my wife is well looked after.

My mum has settled well into the home. She is happy with the care from the staff and enjoys participating in the daily activities and particularly the trips out. She has been to Westcliff on Sea, Christmas Lights in London, Old Time Music Hall, Queens Theatre and Romford Dogs. The range of activities
and trips out is excellent.
Her room is comfortable which we have been able to make homely by getting shelving for her ornaments and pictures hung on the walls.
The only slight negative is the food which she tells me is often cold and the selections on the menu after choosing are not available. Very few vegetarian options which she personally prefers.
We are very happy with the home and have made the right choice for her care. The staff we have seen are all friendly and polite.

We do, in fact, have a vegetarian option on the menu every day and also try to ensure that all hot food is served at the right temperature. My mum was taken to hospital around October; the carers that were with her were very helpful and caring and stayed with her all the time. The staff are very supportive and positive, which helps the residents. Very happy with the Willows care team.

The staff were very positive, supportive, encouraging and considerate. Caring towards residents and families. We were encouraged to visit. We saw excellent attitudes and approaches with Mum's fellow residents too. Names of residents by their bedroom doors are a good detail. Artwork in the corridors
is appropriate. Lots of signs of resident activities being encouraged where appropriate.

My mum was moved to Willows for end-of-life care following a long period in hospital. From the minute she moved in she was treated with respect and dignity and whilst we all knew it was never going to end well, she received fantastic care right to the end.
The staff are really approachable and always
ready and willing to speak to family and friends to provide updates, which was so refreshing after dealing with the hospital.
Mum often commented on how well she was being treated and how lovely everyone was who looked after her and I can only agree with her.
When the end came, the staff were so attentive and helpful, which made things so much easier.
Can't thank them enough for everything they did for Mum and our family.

My aunt has been in Willows Care Home since April 2021. I am really happy with the care given to her from day one. She has been well looked after and there is always someone to give us an update when we visit her. The staff on the ward are wonderful and they are attentive when my aunt needs anything.
There are staff who walks in and helps her even though they are not on the same floor. There is always someone to help if we needed them. The reception staff are very polite and helpful. The outside area is welcoming, clean and well presented. The manager and her team have been really good in keeping the relatives up to date via telephone or email on new developments/activities.     2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
