Mildenhall Lodge is an extremely friendly run care home. The care is first class and the residents are made to feel 'at home'.
I have been here 18 months and have been encouraged to take part in the activities, of which there are many, making life more bearable living in a care home.

We have a choice of good food.

Mildenhall Lodge cared for my mother since it first opened.
We have nothing but praise for the home.
The staff are caring, welcoming and compassionate.
Staff were always responsive to our requests and ensured my mother's best interests at all times.

She spent her final few days in the home surrounded by her family and supported by her carers.

The attitude of the staff is wonderful, the patience they have in sometimes difficult times - attention to requests (ie toileting) is taken care of in next to no time.

Residents rooms are of a very high quality - all with en suite.

I have been impressed with Mildenhall Lodge Care Home. The home is like a hotel in quality of the fixture and fittings. The staff have been very friendly and helpful in getting my mother settled into the home. Each time I visit, there has been an improvement in her well being and this has relieved a lot of the worry associated with not being able to visit her as much as I would like.

Once my mother has regained her strength, there are a lot of activities which she can enjoy and how lovely for the home to have an adopted pet, Sinbad the lurcher. Mum loves animals and looks forward to fussing him every day.

More staff are required to give a better service. When I say staff I do mean carers and not management! At times there has been no staff present on wing. Residents require more staff to engage with. Only suitable carers should be on wing not agency staff who would be better on other wings. Overall care is good.

Mum needs help with her hearing aids, often they are not put in correctly, or the batteries are left out or no longer working. Also the lighting is poor, we are still waiting for improvements. Training has been offered several times by a sensory training company. Everyone is very kind.

I feel my mother is cared for well on the whole. Although there are times when the home appears short staffed. The carers are very good and do their best to care for my mother, which is greatly appreciated.
However I do feel that on occasions there are not enough carers to meet the needs of all the residents ie. when mother rings the bell in need of toileting, there is sometimes a very long delay or when getting residents up in the morning.

I am only able to visit at weekends and so cannot comment on the management team as they do not appear to work then. Receptionist is very good and helpful.

My wife and I were very concerned and apprehensive when we left my father-in-law at the care home. This being a permanent move separating my mother and father-in-law, they had been together for 68 years. We had no need to worry, the very high standard of care and support from all staff has been amazing. My father-in-law has settled extremely well. He is very happy and gets involved in most activities. Many thanks to all concerned!

Very good, excellent. My mum feels very happy and content here. I visit three times a week and I take her for a walk around the lovely gardens. The rooms are very clean and homely. The activities are good and she does try to engage with them but sometimes I am visiting so she misses out. Other than that she really enjoys them.

This home is head and shoulders above our previous experiences of care homes. The staff are so friendly and kind.....my friend in the home also says this regularly. We were apprehensive when changing homes, but this is the best thing we could have done for our loved one. I would highly recommend!

Meet the Team (1)

Edward Benton-Bye
Edward Benton-ByeJob Title:Home Manager

Hi, I’m Ed, the Home Manager at Mildenhall Lodge. I hold a Level 4 qualification in Leadership in Health and Social Care and will complete my Level 5 in February 2026. I have also completed the Future Home Manager course.

My previous role was Deputy Manager at Mildenhall Lodge. I decided to work at Care UK following a recommendation from a family member after the passing of a loved one, which led me to join Davers Court as a Care Assistant—and I’ve never left. I believe the key characteristics needed for my role are being patient, kind, caring, dedicated and passionate, leading by example, having strong coaching abilities, and being a real people person.

My favourite part of the working day is seeing residents enjoying their daily lives and making new memories with loved ones, colleagues and visitors, as well as watching my team grow and develop in their careers.

Outside of work, as an ex-professional dancer, I continue to enjoy dance, performance, teaching and makeup artistry, alongside gardening, reading and spending time with friends and family. My biggest career highlight to date has been working in a Care UK home that achieved an Outstanding rating in all five CQC domains.

What makes me most proud is seeing the whole home work together to ensure residents lead fulfilling lives and create new memories at Mildenhall Lodge. The most important part of my role is coaching and mentoring the entire team to deliver the very best care to our residents, relatives and visitors.
