Overall Experience

My mother was a resident for 8 years and the level of care she received throughout was exemplary. Mum initially stayed in the residential wing but as her health deteriorated she moved to the nursing wing. Her care and support were tailored to meet her needs at all times. She enjoyed day trips/activities in the early years and we often had a coffee/catch-up in the 'cafe' within the home. The support during the challenging period of the Covid pandemic cannot be faulted. Mum received high-quality care in the nursing wing and staff went above and beyond to ensure mum was comfortable. Questions or concerns I had were always treated promptly and compassionately. Mum's end-of-life care was managed with love, dignity, and kindness. In a world which sometimes appears to be full of cynicism and division, the staff are the very best of humanity and, in my eyes, true heroes. I will be forever comforted and grateful for the wonderful staff who are the beating heart of the Braeburn community.

After visiting various care homes we decided that Braeburn Lodge was the one for Mum. From the very first time we stepped inside there was a warm friendly atmosphere, every member of staff smiled and spoke to us as we looked around. This approach happens everyday, all the staff are amazing, friendly, and kind. The home is exceptional clean and well maintained and a pleasure to visit. Mum has settled in extremely well and is happy at Braeburn.

My mother stayed at Braeburn Lodge for three weeks respite. The teams welcomed her with a warm, caring and respectful welcome. She settled in extremely well and very quickly. She seemed to enjoy her time there and was encouraged to join in with all the activities, this was vital to her recovery and greatly assisted with her strength building. Living alone and with dementa. Thanks to all at Braeburn Lodge, she is home safe and stronger. We would not hesitate to return if it was necessary!

My father moved into Braeburn Care Lodge in September, and the care he's received has been outstanding. The transition from his previous care home went smoothly, and we couldn't have asked for better support from the staff. They all played a part in making this change as seamless as possible.

Each time we have visited my Dad, he has been happy and in the short time he has been there, the staff have included him in many activities and events which have been going on in the care home.

My FIL has been a resident at Braeburn Lodge since July. Previously in 2017/18 my own father was a resident. The changes and improvements, in all aspects of the home, from admin, finance, housekeeping, management, care staff and nursing staff has improved beyond words. The staff are kind, caring, professional, approachable and friendly. Not just with my FIL, but with us, his family too. Staff are quick to respond/react to any queries or concerns. The care they provide my FIL with is exceptional. They have got to know him as a person, not just as a resident or name. They provide us with regular updates and are always on hand and willing to answer any questions we have. Nursing staff identify any concerns/issues with my FIL's health and act accordingly without delay, and update us always. His needs are met and he is cared for exceptionally well. We, his family, have been welcomed into Braeburn in the same way my FIL has. We can not recommend Braeburn highly enough. Thank you

Dad really enjoyed his time in Braeburn. The staff were always cheerful, helpful and available. Even on his most 'demanding' days.
There were many activities on offer and although he didn't fully involve himself in a lot of these, he was often taken out for rides in his wheelchair, as he liked to know what was happening around him.
He enjoyed the food, and always had second helpings of dessert. His room was well maintained and always clean.
In his final days, the staff were very attentive, not just the care team but hospitality, maintainence and kitchen staff were always popping in. They were all very supportive.

The Management team were fantastic at helping us navigate next steps following his passing. They were all very respectful and treated Dad with dignity at every step.

Our mother was a resident of Braeburn Lodge for nearly ten years, and we cannot fault the care she received. In the downstairs residential wing she thrived, enjoying the wide range of activities both within the home and on trips and excursions, which gave her a new lease of life. For the first few years she was even able to keep her beloved cat with her, which really helped her settle in.
As her health declined and dementia became more challenging, she moved upstairs to the nursing wing, where the standard of one-to-one care was exceptional. Sadly, she passed away at the beginning of September, but the staff managed her end-of-life care with dignity, love, and kindness. An outstanding example of what the "care" in "care home" truly means.

Every one of the team - nurses, care assistants, reception staff, activities coordinators, volunteers and maintenance staff, showed her kindness and engagement every single day. My sisters and I are deeply grateful. Thank you all, you are amazing!

Generally good care home and overall I am satisfied with care provided. Staffing levels could possibly be higher and engagement with residents a little greater. Residents on dementia ward have high level of needs and difficult for staff to meet those needs and be around to engage with residents on more personal level, though many staff clearly try to do all they are able.

My brother was a resident at Barchester Braeburn Lodge Care Home for five and a half years. Throughout the entire time, he received exemplary care from the whole team.
Everyone was caring and professional, they took time with him and became his second family.
They also looked after Mum for some weeks and she spoke highly of the care too.

My brother has passed away lately - he received tender and loving care right to the end. I cannot praise the team highly enough.

Both my dad and mum were residents at Barchester Braeburn Lodge Care Home until they both passed away.
The staff are very friendly and the care and attention is wonderful. We have made friends with both staff and residents over time and we will definitely continue to visit them.
Food was very good and varied. The chefs and domestic staff were also very friendly when delivering the food.
Nursing staff were superb. They kept us informed regularly of Mum and Dad's condition during their final days and they were always available to talk to.

I would certainly recommend this care home to anyone.

Both parents were residents at Barchester Braeburn Lodge Care Home over a period of several years. When Dad moved into Memory Lane, the care given to him by the dementia care team was exceptional and he was very happy. Mum was able to visit him whenever she wanted to and also maintain an independent and busy life downstairs with fellow residents. The activities offered were plentiful and varied. Mum always said that Braeburn was her "other home" and the staff and residents were her "other family" and after Dad died, Braeburn became her world. As we all lived a distance away, it was comforting to know that she had 24-hour care and was protected and loved. Every time we visited, we were reassured that she was safe and happy. It was obvious that she was respected by a caring staff and we were happy that all her needs, medical, physical and emotional were covered. When Mum died recently, the comfort offered to us, as a family, from the staff made a sad time more bearable. We shall always be grateful to the Braeburn family.

My mother has been in Braeburn for ten months. Choosing the latest month is a strange question. I am happy that my mother is being taken care of. There have been issues, but these have been dealt with swiftly and efficiently. By the very nature of the job, no care home, be it private or otherwise, is ever going to achieve perfection.

However, Braeburn was my first choice for my mother's care, and I would not want her to be anywhere else.

My parents moved to Braeburn in November 21; they had a very happy life together there and always respected as a couple. Sadly, my dad died in March, and my mum fell and broke her hip, so quite a lot of trauma, but with those wonderful Braeburn carers, my mum has come through it and lives a happy life feeling cared for and safe. As for me, I adore, respect and am in total awe of all the wonderful Braeburn staff.

I visited an old friend whilst she was in the care home on a respite stay. It was clean, and the layout was very well thought out. On my visit, I saw a baking activity, which the residents were really enjoying. My friend is in the process of thinking about permanent care. I stayed and viewed my friend's lunchtime meal which was chicken casserole and profiteroles for pudding. It looked very nice, and I was offered the chance to have a meal but declined; however, it really did look nice. The home has lots planned over Christmas, which I intend on coming back for.
