Overall Experience

My relative had a long stay in hospital before arriving at Green Tree Court, we wanted to find somewhere relaxing and homely for her to live, as it wasn't possible for many reasons for her to return home. We visited Green Tree Court and met with staff there who were kind, compassionate and knowledgeable. We really liked the lay out at Green Tree, which is modern, spacious and very clean. Residents can have their own furniture and items in their room however, if they wish.

My relative has made such a good recovery since being at Green Tree, she is more confident and I know she is very well looked after there, which is such peace of mind. When we visit, we can book in for a meal at Green Tree, which is important to us, as my relative was always a real hostess and this is a good way for us to spend quality time with her, and the food really is delicious! They have a slide and climbing frame in the garden for children to play on, which is also helpful when we visit. I feel Green Tree is a luxury care home of very high standards, and I have been very impressed with the care received.

I'm Claire Kellaway, the Deputy Manager at Green Tree Court. I've worked here since 2015, starting firstly as a healthcare assistant, then moving into the office team before stepping into the Deputy Manager role. I love that I can still spend time with the residents and their families whom I get to know very well.

I've got a passion for dogs and I have a border collie called Max who I've often brought into work ever since he was a puppy. The residents are very fond of him! I've lived in Devon for 25 years after moving around a lot when I was younger due to my dad being in the forces. I love working here as I feel like I have an extended family.

Tim WareJob Title:Head ChefJoined: 2014

I studied at Exeter Catering College for 2 years whilst working weekends at Michael Cains at the Royal Clarence Hotel. On leaving college, I worked full-time and gained a wealth of experience working on all sections from starters through to pastry. After five years, I moved to Shropshire to the 5 AA Star Albrighton Hall Hotel as Sous Chef and helped the team gain 3 AA Rosettes.

After two years, I moved back to Devon to take CDP at the Jack in the Green Restaurant and moved from there when offered the Head Chef position at The Diggers Rest, a gastro pub in Devon. Four years later, I took a position at Green Tree Court as a Sous Chef and in 2015 I got promoted to Head Chef.

In 2016, I won the National Care Chef of the Year and in 2020 I won NACC Chef of the Year. At Green Tree Court, we strive to give our residents an exceptional culinary experience with every meal they sit down to enjoy. We pride ourselves on using fresh seasonal produce sourced by local suppliers. We are passionate about our residents receiving the very best.

I love my job. It gives me satisfaction working in a care home as you see residents change physically and mentally through the food and care they receive, it can be life changing for them. Working at Green Tree Court feels like being in one big family and there is always something to look forward to each day.
