Wonderful home with lovely staff, great entertainment and very good food. The Magdalen Park is great for having a meal with mum.

Mum's condition can cause her to be difficult at times. She doesn't make use of the excellent facilities provided as she is happiest in her own room in an environment she knows, but I know that staff have encouraged her to take part in activities. I feel secure that she is safe and well cared for, more
importantly, she feels safe and although she rarely admits it I think she is happy.

Our grandad is extremely independent and had lived at home by himself for many years. It was difficult for him to accept that he needed extra care and support and he wasn't keen on leaving his home.
His worries have now completely gone and he loves being at Magdalen Park. He has settled in fantastically
well. The home is beautiful, the staff can't do enough to help him and he has made lots of new friends. He is included in all the activities they put on and is really enjoying his life again.
We also like to visit, having lunch in the 'Magdalen Arms' or spending time with him in the beautiful gardens.
We couldn't be happier.

Everyone is very welcoming when coming to visit my Grandad. He has really settled in and has become a lot more responsive since being in Magdalen Park, making visiting so much more enjoyable. I have joined Grandad for a number of meals, all of which have been of good quality. The staff are wonderful
and it's great to see Grandad making so many friends.

From the moment we walked into Magdalen, we knew we had found a home that my grandad would be happy in – especially when we saw the bowling green and in-house pub! The food is excellent and the home is always clean when we go and visit. As we don’t live in the area and therefore not being able to visit
as often as we would like to, the communication we get from the home is very reassuring. The level of care my grandad receives is very high and I would recommend Magdalen Park to anyone.

This is a lovely place, as a family, we were really anxious about finding the right place for our mum. However, everyone at Magdalen Park made the choice so easy for us. All the staff are so friendly and caring, they really make you feel like you are one big family, but at the same time maintaining
the right amount of professionalism.
We feel so relaxed now that mum is in good hands. Very happy.

My grandma has been a resident of Magdalen Park Nursing Home for the last two and a half years. As any family who makes the decision for a loved one to move into a care home would attest, it is a period filled with worry about whether the decision was the correct one. We needn’t have worried. The staff
made us all, especially my grandma, feel so at ease. They offered us so much support as a family and quickly learned about my grandma’s interests… it wasn’t long before we would walk into the middle of a discussion about the latest tennis match when we went to visit! The fact that everyone from the manager, who is always there to discuss any niggle or worry we may have, to the ancillary staff, know my grandma and our family and welcome us so warmly means when we leave after a visit we know we are leaving her in caring hands. The home has a rooftop bowling green, as well as an extensive street scene. As a family we hadn’t seen anything else like this in care homes we looked at for my grandma.

Mum has had many periods of respite care here so moving in permanently was a relatively easy transition. The staff helped her to settle as she was really unwell at this point. From the reception to nursing and caring staff and housekeeping we have been treated so kindly and with professionalism. Everyone
has been cheerful, helpful and always ready to talk and make suggestions. I can relax now that I know mum is receiving the care she wants and needs and that we can all work together to make her time in Magdalen Park really happy and safe.

As a family, we were really pleased to have found somewhere as good as Magdalen Park Nursing Home for my grandad. It was completely different to the other homes which we had looked round and straight away we knew he would enjoy living in the home. The on-site pub means we can continue to regularly go
for dinners as a family and I know that my grandad has really enjoyed being part of the dominoes group within the home. I would like to say a massive thank you to the manager, carers, ancillary staff, activities team and receptionist for everything they do for my grandad. We really couldn't have found a better place and would recommend Magdalen Park to anyone.

I attended a family forum meeting recently for the first time and they are a really good idea. The staff came across as very competent and reassuring that things (minor) would be looked at. They are very pleasant and greet everyone with a smile. They do a very good job of trying to get everyone involved
in the activities. The children's carol concerts were greatly enjoyed by my father in law and he was made to feel special when he was presented with a birthday cake at one of them while the children sang "Happy Birthday" to him. He enjoys being visited by the rabbit.

It is amazing how quickly my Grandma has settled in. The staff have been extremely kind and welcoming to both her and the rest of the family and the home is wonderful. Her room is clean, tidy and is very homely and the home itself caters superbly for visits from the family, with a beautifully kept garden
which has areas for children to play and also a roof terrace and various activities for residents such as the movie room and bowling green. The hairdressers on the ground floor is such a great idea as my Grandma can book and get her hair done to get pampered and the pub was recently booked for her 94th birthday party and it honestly felt as though we had hired somewhere completely different and she thoroughly enjoyed it and the staff were more than happy to help us with arrangements to make it a special day for her. I am overjoyed that my Grandma has become a resident here as I cannot imagine any other home offering her the comforts that this does. Thank you from all the family.

My father came into Magdalen Park for respite care following a fall (broken wrist) transferring from another care home.
We are very happy with the care and attention he is receiving and he has settled in well. The staff have made every effort to understanding his needs and I am particularly impressed
by the way their experience are shared so everyone is aware of his situation and character. He is treated as an individual well done and thank you.

Any relative looking to put a relative into care would do well to take a look at Magdalen Park Nursing Home in Hedon. My father has been in attendance for 18 months and despite his natural demise, has been cared for very well.

Laura Davison

Job Title: Home Manager

I have worked in the care sector for over 20 years, with the last 11 spent here at Magdalen Park. During that time, I’ve been fortunate to take on a variety of leadership roles, and I was proud to become Home Manager. I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care and I’m passionate about ensuring residents receive the very best standards of care.


I believe strongly in Care UK’s ethos of delivering outstanding care. As a manager, I lead with clear values and focus on supporting my team to grow their skills and confidence. By empowering colleagues, I know we can create the best possible outcomes for residents.


My favourite part of the day is greeting residents and colleagues each morning, followed by regular walks around the home so I can chat to everyone. I’m proud of the strong relationships I have with residents, families, colleagues and the wider community, and I always aim to lead with compassion and understanding, especially in challenging times.


Outside of work, I enjoy family time, long walks with my dog, and staying fit. I am passionate about fitness and love challenging myself, especially when it helps raise money for charities.
