What a lovely care home. My father has dementia and is treated with the utmost care and dignity. The staff are wonderful, kind, caring, patient and nothing is too much trouble for them. When he was welcomed into their care he was immediately made to feel at home and I would not want my dad to be anywhere else. I am sure the care he has received has extended his life by some considerable time due to the expertise and fantastic nursing care. It is always spotlessly clean and he loves the food. He has participated in some of the various activities they organise and enjoys the social side. The staff are always on hand to answer any questions we have and make all the family feel very welcome when we visit.

Spencer House Care Home here in Northampton has proved to be such a good choice.
The kindness and care that my sister-in-law has enjoyed for the past 5 years has been second to none.
The place is like a 5-star hotel with superb catering, and it is so well organised and managed.
All of the staff are very friendly and helpful and always willing to do everything required of them.
Dropping in to see my sister-in-law and her extended family nowadays is just such a pleasure.

Spencer House is a wonderful care home. The most important aspect of this home is that the staff are amazing, and I really believe that they care about the residents. My mum has been looked after so well, and we will always be grateful for that and always thankful that we chose the right home for Mum to spend her remaining time. The building is always spotlessly clean, and the food is top hotel quality, but for me, it is the people there that really make this a proper home for the residents.

My mum, in the late stages of dementia, was welcomed into Spencer House; she was shown dignity and care from the moment she arrived in reception.
Every member of staff was kind and friendly, and one felt a true family atmosphere. Spencer House is spotlessly clean and warm, and the choice of food is excellent.
I cannot thank the staff enough, including management and reception staff for their support - nothing was too much trouble.
Spencer House has very high standards, and I would not hesitate to recommend it.
Thank you for your heartfelt comments about the care your mum received whilst at Spencer House Care Home. It has been our pleasure to care for her. Our time together was short, but it has been a delight to ensure her time with us was peaceful, settled, and as content as possible. We pride ourselves...
My mum has complex physical health needs, and when my dad developed dementia, they were struggling to live safely at home, even with the support of a live-in carer. They came to Spencer House for respite care, but it soon became clear that their quality of life was vastly improved (as was mine), and they have now moved into a beautiful suite with all of the comforts of home. It's more like an open-plan studio apartment with a sleeping area, living area, dining area and kitchenette. Spencer House is well-staffed with wonderful individuals who always go the extra mile, from the fantastic management team to the lovely laundry lady who knew my parents' names from day one. There is entertainment every day, and my parents say the food is good. There are communal dining and living areas, and I've just left them in their suite, having a cup of tea with a visiting resident. I can't recommend Spencer House highly enough. It is such a huge relief to know that my parents are so well cared for.

After viewing multiple care homes in the area, we realised immediately when we visited Spencer House that it was the right one for Mum because it had a friendly, happy vibe, and its airiness and cleanliness were exemplary.
Mum moved in last September and has felt at home from the outset. The staff are all lovely - from the reception staff to housekeeping, carers and managers. Nothing is too much trouble and the friendliness and kindness shown to Mum, and us as family, have made the whole process so much easier.
Mum had always dreaded the thought of going into care, but now she says how happy and settled she is and how kind the staff are to her, so there really is not a lot more any of us could ask for.

Staff are excellent; they will always do their best, even when stretched. Staff show compassion and make the residents feel like family. The quality of the food has improved significantly over the time of my stay.

Mum has been in the dementia unit for almost a year now, after having moved in with my father. Unfortunately, Dad died suddenly after only six weeks, but I had achieved my aim of them being together. The staff are wonderful, caring and can’t do enough. Mum has been out on the minibus and has enjoyed the singers that have come into the home. Usually a very quiet and private person, they have managed to persuade her to participate in the activities. The home is pristine and has an on-site hair salon and podiatrist that visits. The housekeeping staff work very hard and are always respectful of entering the resident's rooms and are all very friendly. Can’t really comment on the food as have never been present at meal times, but the menus always look quite posh, though Mum has always been a very traditional person and prefers good old-fashioned food, she has gained weight so must be enjoying it. Admin, reception and management staff cannot fault. Highly recommend this home.
Thank you for your heartfelt words of thanks to Spencer House. We are very pleased to have been involved in your wish to have both Mum and Dad together, albeit for a short time. It was a pleasure to watch them together and their clear love and devotion to one another.
We endeavour to support...
My mum lives at Spencer House Care Home. When my mum was admitted to the hospital, she was given 6-8 weeks to live. This was in April 2021. It is due to the best care she is received at Spencer's House that she is still with us and is comfortable and settled. She loves the staff and the food. All staff at Spencer House are very caring and kind. I can recommend Spencer House at any time for the high standards of care delivery.

Knowing my aunt would be able to increase her level of care without having to move home proved crucial, as she needed to move to the nursing floor sooner than I expected and sadly is now receiving end-of-life care. It is so reassuring knowing GP support is also available at all times and that phone communication is good (I don't live locally). Staff are so supportive. I warmly recommend Spencer House.
Thank you for your very kind and deeply touching words. Your aunt was a delight to care for and made a lasting impression on our home and staff. It was wonderful to hear her stories and life events, and many staff would enjoy this tender time with her. We always endeavour to ensure our standards of...
Fantastic service from all of the staff! Very helpful, courteous and my grandma is so happy! She always smiles when a member of staff pops in. Could not recommend this place enough. We were very concerned before my grandma became a resident, as we were not aware of what service she would receive, but those concerns were immediately put to rest as soon as we popped in to check on her and saw how cheery she is, as well as having some great chats with the staff.

She was looked after with a huge amount of care and compassion.
As a family, when visiting Mum, we were shown exceptional kindness, empathy and respect from reception staff, management, cleaning staff and nursing staff alike.
We were able to say our final goodbyes in a calm and peaceful environment.
We had time. We had privacy. And we had support.
They were difficult times for us all, but Spencer House Care Home helped us to get through it.
All the kindness and professionalism exhibited by staff were greatly appreciated and did not go unnoticed, even if we were too upset to verbalise it at the time.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Spencer House because Mum was afforded every dignity possible during her final days, and we will be forever grateful.
Thank you for your exceptionally kind and deeply touching words regarding the care your mother received whilst she was at Spencer House. We are delighted that you and your family felt the level of care she received met your expectations and beyond. Our staff take tremendous pride in ensuring the...
It’s such an emotional time for us relatives to see the demise of a loved one, however; all of the staff are not only dedicated to the residents, but they genuinely care about the families and friends too.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this professional, caring and spotlessly clean home to anyone.
Thank you to all; you are the best.

What can I say - it’s an amazing place. Mum has been in there about a year now; she’s so happy. The carers are amazing, so caring, thoughtful and loving. Spencer House has everything you could possibly want - entertainment, good food, beautifully cleaned rooms, and so much for the residents to do from crafts, cake making and decorating, painting and drawing just about everything you can imagine. They can have their hair done and nails manicured. I feel so happy and relaxed that Mum is being so well looked after.

Having been a regular and frequent visitor throughout that time, I can say with great confidence just how committed all staff, managers and volunteers - without exception - are to their residents, so many of whom have complex needs and profound vulnerabilities.
They do so with professionalism, integrity and great affection. And with great pride too.
My family and I commend and thank them for all of that.
Thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to review Spencer House Care Home and for your amazing 5-star rating. The Covid pandemic was a very difficult time for us all, but our highly trained staff team continued to provide an exceptional level of care whilst creating a fun and safe environment for residents....
My mother has been at Spencer House for a year now and enjoys it. She gets on well with the staff and has made friends with many residents. Now the Covid restrictions have eased, there are activities most day, and Mum participates in the ones she can as she has limited mobility. The meals are very good also.
Thank you for taking the time to review Spencer House Care Home in Northampton. It is a pleasure to care for your mother, and I am delighted to hear how much she enjoys living here and has made friendships with her peers. We are also pleased to hear that the daily activities provided by the...
My mum stayed for five months until she sadly passed away. Staff seem to genuinely care - in that it's more than just a job for them. Small acts of kindness for both my mum and for us made a big difference as we coped with her decline.
Staff are warm and accommodating, and we appreciated their flexibility and also their patience in passing on the many phone calls my mum received!
The care home itself is homely and does not feel too clinical.
Overall, despite the sadness of my mum's circumstances, Spencer House helped make my mum's last few months as positive as possible, which we are very grateful for.
Thank you for your very kind and touching words regarding the care your mother received whilst she was residing at Spencer House. Our staff were delighted to care for her and spend as much time as they could with her, thoroughly enjoying her animated conversations and the kindness she would...
Very caring members of staff who go the extra mile to make sure residents are looked after and treated with the utmost dignity. After mum got admitted to the hospital, she went downhill rapidly, and I managed to get her onto the nursing floor at Spencer House, where her general condition improved greatly, thanks to the staff and care she received.
Thank you for taking the time to review Spencer House Care Home in Northampton. We are delighted to hear that your mum's health has continued to improve after admission, and she has soon settled into the loving care community that we create, giving you and your family the peace of mind that you deserve. It is a true pleasure to care for her. Best wishes.
Friendly meeting with reception staff, especially during what Covid precautions are applicable. Showed to the night room. Given private time with my friend, we task Holy Communion together, which she very much valued. Telephone beforehand to arrange visits. Very helpful staff. Much benefit to my friend. Very satisfied with my visit, but request I can only complete as for as my visit permits. Cannot speak for some categories.
Thank you for taking the time to review Spencer House Care Home. Your feedback is truly invaluable to us and our staff team, who go over and above the standards to provide person-centred care for all our residents. Our friendly admin team are always there to help you gain the best experience from your visit. I will be sure to pass your kind comments on to the rest of the team. Best wishes.
Our friend has been in the home for over 6-months, despite the reluctance to do so, we are very happy to see her settled and now enjoy her stay. There are many aspects that have impressed me and our friends, and the biggest one is the cleaning and staff attitude. Kind, caring and treating the residents as family. Would gladly promote the care home and all its staff.

Meet the Team (15)

I am currently working as a senior General Manager for Spencer House Care Home and support the company with multi-site management. I joined Avery Health Care in 2015 and worked at Ashurst Mews Care Home in Moulton Northamptonshire. I am a registered general nurse by profession. I spent many years at Ashurst Mews and this helped me develop my foundations of delivering excellent care and also developed my management skills, my personal skills and this provided me with the opportunity to transfer to Spencer House to develop further as a senior General Manager. I have a real passion for developing staff and consider myself a very hands-on manager.
I take pride in leading by example and working with and for both our residents and staff. I enjoy watching our home go from strength to strength and find the small achievements equally important as the larger ones. I like to see our ethos of care being delivered every day and watching my residents blossom, remain well, feel at home and safe under the care of my staff and myself. I find the receptiveness of staff and residents to any improvements we make effortless. I particularly take pride in watching my staff embrace any new changes and challenges and developing their knowledge of any new, innovative systems we implement. I have been delighted to accept and feel the timing was right.
I very much enjoy spending time with my family and looking after them. I have a keen interest in cooking and spend a lot of my free time with my family. I very much enjoy being outdoors and can spend many hours attending to my garden. I also like to keep myself active physically. I enjoy regular countryside walks. I like to keep abreast of current affairs and take an interest in world events, often watching global news programmes and documentaries.

My role involves supporting the manager and all staff to ensure a high level of quality care is delivered at all times. I am very proud to work at Spencer House and be a part of its dedicated staff team.
I am very fond of cooking, baking and reading. My favourite animal is cats. My dream would be to open my own animal sanctuary and children's home.

My role involves supporting the team at Spencer House to ensure a high standard of care delivery. I enjoy using my nursing and clinical skills to help develop staff and improve our services.

I enjoy supporting the residents and their families during their stay at Spencer House, as well as the fact no two days are the same.
During my time off, I enjoy walks with my husband and my dog Rosie along the canals and parks.

I am a nurse by profession but I am currently a HCA at Spencer House.
I am very passionate about my job and love making the residents smile.
