My father-in-law was transferred here direct from hospital. He had stage 4 dementia and gall bladder cancer and we were aware that his stay would be relatively short. From our first visit to view the home (which came highly recommended) to assess suitability, we were always impressed by the friendly,
caring staff and its cleanliness. Although we didn’t actually see the food, the menus always looked varied and if someone did not like the main menu choice, there was always an alternative on offer. My father-in-law's time here was short, only a month, but we know he received excellent attention and we cannot recommend this care home more highly. Thank you managers and the team.

The home is clean and staff look smart and all staff wear a name badge. They are always polite and keep you informed regarding the resident ie falls and nursing requirements. The bedrooms are comfortable with the resident's own photos on the wall, making the room homely. The Myo app works well showing
activities for the resident and how staff participate.

Cedar View Care Centre is the best place for my mum, who has dementia, to be cared for. The staff seem very dedicated and there is always some happy noises. The building is modern and the rooms are well decorated, clean and tidy. I have never visited Cedar View and found something lacking.

My mum has been at Cedar View for a number of years and is bedbound. I live overseas, 8000 km away from home, so care and responsiveness at my mum's 'home' is critical to my peace of mind.
My experience during the former manager's tenure was pretty bad (<2018 - Spring 2020): total lack of empathy,
care, thought, transparency with any issues relating to 'missed' care and some nursing staff, an arrogance, a lack of follow up and general dismissiveness of relatives that contradicted what a care home should be about.
However, since the new manager took over, the difference in my mum's comfort (despite Covid 19), the attitude and responsiveness of staff from admin/reception to carers and nurses (their voices say it all) is palpable. I can tell although my mum has her ups and downs, she feels cared for and far less stressed than during the former manager's era. The new manager has made meaningful, positive changes, is transparent and works with families for the residents' best welfare.

My father has advanced vascular dementia and has been at Cedar View for 2 years. I’d like to say how grateful I am for the person-centred care the managers and staff on the dementia unit are providing. With this second lockdown, it has been hard not being able to visit my dad but we really appreciate
all the efforts the staff are going to to keep residents safe and well looked after. We feel extra effort has gone into looking after Dad's emotional well-being through lockdown. We love the app which regularly shows us photos of activities Dad is doing, including one to one and group physio, parties and celebrations, time with the activities co-ordinator, and one to one time with care staff who share family photos and reminisce with him. We found the family review with the deputy manager really helpful and the staff responded to our suggestions about alleviating dad’s anxiety. He seems much calmer and more settled with the regular contact and reassurance provided by the deputy manager and the care staff.

On arrival, I always received a pleasant greeting. Having visited many care homes I was impressed by the cleanliness and pleasant, tasteful surroundings in the public areas and the bedroom. The meals were prepared with fresh, good quality ingredients. My partner's needs to be active and then later,
needing nursing care, are all well met.

Since COVID-19 has come around Cedar View care home has been on point with every aspect of my aunties care, they put the necessary safety measure in as soon as possible to limit the spread of the virus within the home. They keep in contact with all relatives making us feel like we are part of the process,
and putting us at ease knowing our families are being cared for by the loving staff.
Nothing is ever to much trouble from the cleaners to the managers; they go above and beyond to make sure they take the time to know my auntie and treat her as a person and not a job.
We as a family are so grateful for all the care, love and help that they have shown/given my auntie and also us as a family.
She really couldn’t be in a better place.

Our Family removed Mum from Cedar View Care Centre last month as we noticed that her dementia and also her level of care deteriorated badly. A recent safeguarding report helped our decision, my mum is now bed-bound and will not be able to mobilise again. There are some very caring staff at Cedar but
the level of care is scuppered by poor management, numerous carers/nurses have left over the last year due to poor management styles. This affected the care my mother received as they became short-staffed, agency carers were brought in who seemed to not be informed of my mum's needs. There have been numerous times when family members have turned up to visit and mums door to her room had been closed and mum was left with her call bell out of reach, no TV and no interaction with others. We constantly emailed management to express our concerns but this did not reach staff.

Unfortunately, the service being given to my mum has deteriorated over the past year and is inconsistent. They are some wonderful individuals at Cedar who go above and beyond to make my mums care the best it can be, but their efforts are regularly destroyed due to poor management, a severe lack of communication

I am satisfied that the care my aunt receives is appropriate to her needs. She is 98, bed-bound has dementia and has only minimal quality of life.
Although the environment and activities provided are good, she cannot participate, which is a shame.
The food seems nice and the staff in the main are
attentive to her needs. End of life care is expensive and in the instance is a big outlay to simply lie in bed all day. However, it is what it is.

My mum has been at Cedar View for a while now and whilst she cannot express herself I can confirm she is being looked after well. This is a great relief as I have worried about finding a good care home and I think this is one of the best in the area.
The staff always seem to be present and services
such as chiropody and manicures available.

Cedar View is an excellent care home. All of the staff treat my mother with respect and make her quality of life exceptional taking into account her condition.
The overall environment is more like that of a small hotel rather than a care home. Knowing how well she is cared for gives us complete peace

My friend was transferred from hospital only to die a few hours after arriving. However, the care we were given both in visiting and making the arrangements was excellent. The staff were caring and made every effort to make my friend's last hours comfortable. After her death, the care and concern continued.
I am very impressed by the staff at Cedar View and cannot rate them highly enough.

The things that are promised have not been seen. Residents are frequently left in the same place to watch TV all day. Agency nurses, especially at weekends, can be sullen, seemingly lazy and do not interact with residents. Residents are not encouraged to ask for what they want - and therefore have become
institutionalised. With the theatre, landscape gardens, activities, food and sweet shop, I would expect everything to be of top quality for the amount spent each month. Too many niggles to allow this and every aspect would be improved with a little management participation and overview.

My name is Isabel Nyirenda. I am the home manager at Cedar View Care Centre. I have been working in healthcare, both the NHS and the Private Sector for many years. I qualified as a Registered General nurse in 1993.


I have acquired a lot of experience in various fields of Nursing and my philosophy has remained very simple – “Treat others as you would like to be treated.” I have a team that embraces a holistic approach to deliver a person-cantered care.


Although pictures in the brochure can speak a thousand words; but a visit to the Home where you can see for yourself and have a feel of the place and also have the opportunity to chat with any members of the team, residents or visiting relatives is always recommended.
