My parents arrived in April in some distress and were greeted as family immediately. My mother has recently died. She has been cared for lovingly and professionally. My father's ongoing care has been planned thoughtfully and with tenderness. This home is excellently managed. We could not want or ask
for more for people at their most vulnerable. Thank you.
Reply from Monika Jankauskaite, Digital Marketing Manager at Cedar ViewThank you so much for this wonderful review, we are one big family here, at Cedar View. Your mother has touched the hearts of many and she's missed by all of us.

My elderly father stayed here for over 2 years, nearly 3 years. He was well looked after, fed, entertained, stimulated, nothing could have been done better.
Would happily recommend it to anyone.

The people at Cedar View Care Centre are very caring. When you walk through the doors to the home it feels warm and welcoming and you are greeted by lovely staff. My mum was very well looked after and although her time at Cedar View may have been short I believe she felt very much at home and said all
staff were lovely and kind. Everybody I met was helpful, friendly and thoroughly nice. Thank you everyone for taking such good care of my mum during her stay with you.
Reply from Monika Jankauskaite, Marketing Assistant at Cedar ViewThank you for such kind words, we're very pleased to hear your mum enjoyed the stay with us, it was a pleasure looking after her and our caring team will be extremely happy to read this review.

My father-in-law was transferred here direct from hospital. He had stage 4 dementia and gall bladder cancer and we were aware that his stay would be relatively short. From our first visit to view the home (which came highly recommended) to assess suitability, we were always impressed by the friendly,
caring staff and its cleanliness. Although we didn’t actually see the food, the menus always looked varied and if someone did not like the main menu choice, there was always an alternative on offer. My father-in-law's time here was short, only a month, but we know he received excellent attention and we cannot recommend this care home more highly. Thank you managers and the team.

The home is clean and staff look smart and all staff wear a name badge. They are always polite and keep you informed regarding the resident ie falls and nursing requirements. The bedrooms are comfortable with the resident's own photos on the wall, making the room homely. The Myo app works well showing
activities for the resident and how staff participate.

Cedar View Care Centre is the best place for my mum, who has dementia, to be cared for. The staff seem very dedicated and there is always some happy noises. The building is modern and the rooms are well decorated, clean and tidy. I have never visited Cedar View and found something lacking.

My mum has been at Cedar View for a number of years and is bedbound. I live overseas, 8000 km away from home, so care and responsiveness at my mum's 'home' is critical to my peace of mind.
My experience during the former manager's tenure was pretty bad (<2018 - Spring 2020): total lack of empathy,
care, thought, transparency with any issues relating to 'missed' care and some nursing staff, an arrogance, a lack of follow up and general dismissiveness of relatives that contradicted what a care home should be about.
However, since the new manager took over, the difference in my mum's comfort (despite Covid 19), the attitude and responsiveness of staff from admin/reception to carers and nurses (their voices say it all) is palpable. I can tell although my mum has her ups and downs, she feels cared for and far less stressed than during the former manager's era. The new manager has made meaningful, positive changes, is transparent and works with families for the residents' best welfare.
A great change! Thank you.
Reply from Isabel Nyirenda, Home Manager at Cedar ViewThank you for the positive review and kind words on how the changes to the home have impacted your loved one. It means a great deal to me that I have made positive and meaningful impact to the residents' lives at the home. Here at Cedar View we endeavour to take all kinds of feedback and make changes accordingly. I know since my short time at the company that the provider also takes on this stance. I look forward to meeting you officially and, once again thank you for reviewing us here at Cedar View.

My father has advanced vascular dementia and has been at Cedar View for 2 years. I’d like to say how grateful I am for the person-centred care the managers and staff on the dementia unit are providing. With this second lockdown, it has been hard not being able to visit my dad but we really appreciate
all the efforts the staff are going to to keep residents safe and well looked after. We feel extra effort has gone into looking after Dad's emotional well-being through lockdown. We love the app which regularly shows us photos of activities Dad is doing, including one to one and group physio, parties and celebrations, time with the activities co-ordinator, and one to one time with care staff who share family photos and reminisce with him. We found the family review with the deputy manager really helpful and the staff responded to our suggestions about alleviating dad’s anxiety. He seems much calmer and more settled with the regular contact and reassurance provided by the deputy manager and the care staff.

On arrival, I always received a pleasant greeting. Having visited many care homes I was impressed by the cleanliness and pleasant, tasteful surroundings in the public areas and the bedroom. The meals were prepared with fresh, good quality ingredients. My partner's needs to be active and then later,
needing nursing care, are all well met.

Since COVID-19 has come around Cedar View care home has been on point with every aspect of my aunties care, they put the necessary safety measure in as soon as possible to limit the spread of the virus within the home. They keep in contact with all relatives making us feel like we are part of the process,
and putting us at ease knowing our families are being cared for by the loving staff.
Nothing is ever to much trouble from the cleaners to the managers; they go above and beyond to make sure they take the time to know my auntie and treat her as a person and not a job.
We as a family are so grateful for all the care, love and help that they have shown/given my auntie and also us as a family.
She really couldn’t be in a better place.
Reply from Aileen Nimmo, Sales & Marketing at Cedar ViewThank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on Cedar View and the team supporting your Auntie. Stay safe and look forward to life returning to normal soon hopefully.

Our Family removed Mum from Cedar View Care Centre last month as we noticed that her dementia and also her level of care deteriorated badly. A recent safeguarding report helped our decision, my mum is now bed-bound and will not be able to mobilise again. There are some very caring staff at Cedar but
the level of care is scuppered by poor management, numerous carers/nurses have left over the last year due to poor management styles. This affected the care my mother received as they became short-staffed, agency carers were brought in who seemed to not be informed of my mum's needs. There have been numerous times when family members have turned up to visit and mums door to her room had been closed and mum was left with her call bell out of reach, no TV and no interaction with others. We constantly emailed management to express our concerns but this did not reach staff.
Reply from Tori Blackadder, Marketing Assistant at Cedar ViewThank you for taking the time to leave feedback for Cedar View Care Centre. Our preferred goal is to work closely with our residents and their families. Therefore, it is always very sad when a working relationship breaks down, despite the Homes best efforts to manage families expectations. Providing care can be complex and desired outcomes are not always as easy to achieve as anticipated.

Unfortunately, the service being given to my mum has deteriorated over the past year and is inconsistent. I am satisfied that the care my aunt receives is appropriate to her needs. She is 98, bed-bound has dementia and has only minimal quality of life.
Although the environment and activities provided are good, she cannot participate, which is a shame.
The food seems nice and the staff in the main are
attentive to her needs. End of life care is expensive and in the instance is a big outlay to simply lie in bed all day. However, it is what it is.

My mum has been at Cedar View for a while now and whilst she cannot express herself I can confirm she is being looked after well. This is a great relief as I have worried about finding a good care home and I think this is one of the best in the area.

Cedar View is an excellent care home. All of the staff treat my mother with respect and make her quality of life exceptional taking into account her condition.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.620)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.620) out of 10 for Cedar View is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.720 for Cedar View is calculated as follows: ( (143 Excellents x 5) + (40 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 189 Ratings = 4.72
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cedar View is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I have been working in healthcare for many years, both in the NHS and the private sector.

I qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1993 and have since acquired extensive experience across various fields of nursing, including critical care, geriatrics, and community health.

Throughout my career, my philosophy has remained very simple: “Treat others as you would like to be treated.” This principle guides my interactions with patients, families, and colleagues, ensuring that compassion and respect are at the forefront of our care.

I lead a dedicated team that embraces a holistic approach to deliver person-centred care, tailoring our services to meet the individual needs of each resident. While pictures in the brochure can speak a thousand words, I always recommend a visit to the home for a true understanding of our environment.

Seeing the space for yourself and having the opportunity to engage in conversation with team members, residents, or visiting relatives allows you to truly appreciate the warm and welcoming atmosphere we strive to create every day.
