Mary Rose Manor

My mother was moved to Mary Rose Manor after she was 'fast-tracked' from hospital. She was comfortable and very well looked after in the care home. The staff were attentive to her needs and unfailingly caring for her and her family. She liked the food and the choices she was given. All in all, this was end of life care as it should be.

We knew when Dad went into Mary Rose that he did not have long. We had to persuade him to leave his house, but when he saw his room he was delighted and enjoyed the first few weeks when he was well. The end of life care he was given was outstanding. Everyone was so helpful and caring, not only to Dad but to the members of the family. Thank you to all the staff.

Mary Rose is a purpose built, modern nursing home and my sister became a resident when it first opened in November 2015. She passed away in May 2017. During her time in the home she had a lovely room and facilities. The staff provided great skill and care in looking after her, and became her friends. There is always a welcoming air about the staff and the environment in the home. There is also a culture of working with the family and next of kin so that the staff can optimise their care for the residents.

The home is always very clean and there are never any unpleasant odours. I would like to see more in the way of organised activity and entertainment. I feel the home is not staffed as well now as it was 18 months ago (both in quality and quantity). More time with patients, more help with feeding.

The level of care shown towards my grandfather was absolutely first class. As a family, we were comforted with the high level of facilities provided. Nothing was too much trouble and he was extremely well looked after. Couldn't recommend Mary Rose Manor enough. Thank you to all.

The staff made a very difficult time when my mother was ill, bearable. My mother was treated with dignity and made to feel her life was valued.

I cannot recommend this nursing home highly enough. My uncle was at the home for eight months up to his death; during that time his care was exemplary.The home is well run, has a strong management team led by the lovely Manager, who as well as being very professional has a genuine warmness towards her service users their families and her team. As well as a lovely environment, the staff there are well trained and showed genuine care and commitment to the people they are caring for; this was especially evident in the last weeks of my Uncle's life where everyone working at the home showed him so much kindness. My husband recently remarked that he felt we had become a family, with everyone at the home; that was how the staff made us feel. The home recently had an unannounced CQC visit, the findings were very positive. I believe that reading this report will help you make the right decision when looking for a good nursing home (emphasis on the word home!)

The matron is excellent.

My dad was admitted for what turned out to be the last 2 months of his life. The care and warmth he received could not have been better. The staff from the manager to every single person we were in contact with were excellent to dad and our family. We were all treated kindly and courteously. The end of my dad's life was managed in a wonderful way. I can't thank you enough. We were lucky enough to have the born by CHF.

The welcome and stay of my late father were handled with such care and professionalism, encouraging and friendly but also respectful was something that will remain with me for the last weeks of Dad's life. Always cheerful, they listened, cared and nursed my lovely dad.

Throughout my Mum's stay, the staff were very caring and attentive. Mum had severe dementia with behavioural issues and the staff were very patient with her. The rooms and general facilities in the home are top class. During my mum's last days the staff were all excellent to both my Mum and myself. I would recommend this home to anyone.

My husband was only there for a few weeks but I thought the care he received during that short time was excellent. The nursing and care staff did all they could for him during his last weeks of life. The staff were all very compassionate to my family during this difficult time. The Manager runs an excellent establishment. I have been negative about some of the questions I am forced to answer in this survey as they did not apply to the experience of the nursing home during a very brief stay.

Brilliant - I felt like part of a family who actually loved me and cared. The food is out of this world. Full marks on all aspects.

Staff are excellent could not do enough for my sister, cannot speak highly enough in praise for the staff and the accommodation.

Staff at Mary Rose Manor went above and beyond the call of duty to provide care and nursing to support my father in law during his final months of his life. Although it is invidious to pick out one member of staff, the manager ensured he was nursed and supported 24/7, going above and beyond the call of duty. It is a lovely home with caring and competent staff who I would have no hesitation in recommending.

The care and respectability of my step father has been second to none. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The manager and her management team have obviously vetted and trained her staff well. Care is obviously the priority for the staff and also the politeness to their patients. It is a calming atmosphere within the home. Organised but patient focused.

The Mary Rose Manor are a fantastic nursing home. The staff there cannot do enough for you or for their residents and the manager is superb. My grandma has only recently become a resident here after suffering a major stroke, and has already settled in and is being extremely well looked after. We struggled to find her a home due to her calling out a lot since her stroke, but Mary Rose had no problems in taking her, she has settled very very well and we are informed of everything when we arrive daily or when we phone. The home don't have a problem with us visiting or phoning any time of the day or night. Our dogs are even allowed to visit which means a lot to us. I cannot say enough good words about this home, the staff and the management. Thank you!

Dad was fast tracked to the above home where he was a resident for five days until his death on the 2nd April last. We visited every day and were highly impressed with the standard of care afforded to dad. On the day of his death the family were there at the home for ten hours, during which time we were treated like royalty. We cannot praise the home highly enough.

My father moved into Mary Rose January 2016 and I can honestly say that the staff made his transition as comfortable and easy as possible. His room is really comfortable and has everything he needs with modern technology. Staff are friendly and seem experienced in Dementia care. Food is really good (compliments to the chef). My only concern is due to the size/layout of the home residents are left on the lounge alone for long periods of time which is a concern as my dad is a fall's risk and has fallen 3 times in a 3/4 week period in the home. I have also been left with up to 3 residents alone on the lounge.
