Lovely friendly environment a real home from home. Everyone is welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Mum is settling in really well. More like a 5-star hotel than a care home.

My father-in-law moved to Rose Lodge two months ago. He is very confused and can be verbally and physically aggressive. The aggression has only appeared over the last few months. I thought at first that the cost was quite high but I can honestly say it is worth every penny. My father-in-law often thinks that he is in a hotel on holiday.
The management and organisation is first class and the care and support he has received from every member of staff has been excellent. No matter what sort of mood he is in he is always greeted with a smile.

I cannot praise the staff and this facility any higher.

I felt really cared for by a wonderful staff who show a great deal of compassion for every resident in spite of difficult circumstances at times. They are very friendly,m flexible and willing to help with whatever needs you have, wherever possible. Activities, tun by lovely staff, are varied and appropriate to the ability of the residents. The carers work really hard to encourage participation whenever possible to the extent of collecting residents from rooms to join in. They assist with making drinks etc. The team work really well together. The staff couldn't possibly do more, there aren't enough hours in the day, they need rest/time off so it would be good to have extra people to maintain the grounds and give parts of the building a bit of TLC. One person isn't enough for such a big site.

My mother (now 95) has been at Rose Lodge since last June and my father (98) joined her in February. We have always been very happy with the facilities and care provided, with the staff being very caring and willing to help with specific needs. Inevitably in a care home, there can't be individual attention on tap, but my parents get a lot of personal attention and stimulation from the staff and the various activities provided. Rooms and facilities are clean and bright and food is plentiful and good, but this is only part of the story. The most important thing is the very positive ethos and attitude of the manager and all staff.

My mother-in-law's dementia got to the point where she had to have specialist care and that is exactly what she gets at Rose Lodge. Every member of staff knows her no matter what their role and we are always greeted warmly and asked how we are.

She is in the top floor where there are less residents and I feel she is really safe and happy there.

93-year-old mother-in-law has now been a resident for nearly two years. She had a bad accident prior to being placed in this home and had been in hospital for two months. She had lost so much weight, she was very frail and was frightened of walking using a frame just in case she fell again and hurt herself.

As time went on she has gone from strength to strength. Over the two years, she has put on weight and now feels so confident that she goes back and forth to her room using her frame but without assistance.

She loves the place, the staff really look after her and in her own words “she hasn’t got a care in the world”. Her health has improved so much that she is looking younger and always has a smile on her face. It is a pleasure to visit her as the home is very welcoming and everyone knows each other.

My husband has been a resident since last September permanently. He had been in for respite previously. I did, in fact, move him to another home at the end of a few weeks as the place I went to was supposedly the very best place for those with dementia and also it was in the next road to where I live. However I soon asked if he could return to Rose Lodge - he and I both felt we had come home. The activities ladies are excellent in their hard work, their variety of activity, the way they never stop and nothing is ever too much for them.

I feel I am listened to if I do have a worry and the manager is always with an open door which is really comforting to know. They keep me informed. The part where my husband is only has a small number of 12 and it is like a little family - we all support each other so that visiting is enjoyed - not miserable. We listen to each other as the relatives and that is good - if one has a bad day the others are there for them. I am so pleased to have found it.

The Rose Lodge care home is just like one big family. All the staff are all very very good and excellent. All have a caring nature and very good with the people they care for. We are always kept informed. The food is very good and the portions also very good. The staff at the home from the Manager down should all be given a great pat on the back from the service they provide.

Very caring home. Always make you feel welcome. Let you know what is happening. If you don't visit they will ring you to inform if the doctor has called, or Dad is unwell. They do so many things with them. Also, take them out when possible. My Dad says it is like a 3-star hotel. Wasn't very happy at first but has settled in very well now.

Mum was cared for in Rose Lodge for 14 months. The staff were extremely good to her, using hoists or other equipment to move her from chair to wheelchair etc, explaining what they were about to do and encouraging her all the time. They dressed and undressed her daily and had beautifully amusing conversations whilst doing it. Mum particularly liked certain members of staff!

The food was presented beautifully and liquidized as necessary. Nothing was ever too much trouble to cook an omelette/make a sandwich as an extra. The atmosphere was usually very happy and everyone seemed content. The nursing staff were very observative as to mums daily condition and called in the doctors when necessary. A very safe place to be for mum and for the family.

My husband has dementia and he was at Rose Lodge for respite care. He was welcomed by a happy, cheerful staff, and settled in despite worrying about me as I was in hospital for an operation. He soon joined in the many activities and enjoyed the visits out for coffee, and particularly the local pub.
He needed some help with showering and shaving but was first given the opportunity to do it for himself.
He turned out to be the life and soul of the home, very sociable, and the staff encouraged that side of his personality. My daughters who were visiting him were so impressed by the care the staff gave all residents, diverting situations before they became problems, giving a little pat on the arm in passing, always looking for the needs of the residents.
The activities were varied and stimulating, with a weekly program, and the 3 full-time staff were enthusiastic and encouraging.

My husband may well spend days there on occasions, and has no qualms about doing so.

My friends are a couple in their 90's. She is totally reliant on help for everything, he still has an active mind but limited mobility.
I went to the Open Day at the Rose Lodge Care Home and it was my first visit. My first impression was how helpful the staff were and just as important they all looked happy. My friend said that although nothing could replace home as it used to be he understood that he was no longer able to look after his wife and he was very happy to be in this particular care home.

He was given as much independence as he could handle and was enjoying life. It is the first care home I have visited that did not smell of urine which pleased me very much. Head office regularly send a representative to visit informally and keep an eye on things. The overall impression was of a calm efficiency.

The home was very welcoming with all staff knowing my mother's name from the outset and seeming genuinely pleased to see her.
A friendly, inclusive atmosphere was actively promoted but the staff and all residents appeared to enjoy each others company. When leaving, it took a while to locate our wheelchair but the staff member was very helpful and ultimately successful!

The music on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon was a little loud, making conversation difficult but none of the residents seemed to complain.

My mother is 95, is disabled and needs a great deal of support. Due to my own ill health, I needed to find a local home very quickly for respite. I am delighted with the care, kindness and genuine warmth my mother received at Rose Lodge. She made friends and was encouraged to participate in residents activities. Everyone of the staff, from the visiting manager downwards, not only looked after my mother with professionalism and compassion but also helped me by liaising fully. Returning home, she is more confident in going out and communicating. I cannot thank Rose Lodge for all they have done for her.
