All the residents are so well looked after they want for nothing. Such a happy, relaxed atmosphere, they have so much going on every day to cater for everyone. Family are welcome to dine with their relative anytime they like at no extra charge which is amazing as other homes charge for this service.
I would highly recommend this home to my close family and friends.

So glad we found Shinfield View for our mother. We are so pleased with her care in every respect. More importantly, mum is very happy and has settled in very quickly. We can relax as a family in the knowledge that mum is now in safe hands. Thank you to all the staff.

My Mum's rest bite experience was fabulous from start to end. Wonderful accommodation, amazing staff and the attention to detail and care never failed to amaze her or the whole family, who were made just as welcome whenever we visited her. Thank you.

My father, who is 97, has been at Shinfield Care Home since the beginning of November 2017 after injuring himself following a fall and therefore no longer able to look after himself. He has settled in amazingly well and is very happy. He constantly says what a lovely place it is and what a nice room
he has got. Also, he really likes the staff who are all very friendly and caring. We are so impressed with the home. Not only the staff and the facilities but also the variety of activities that are provided and which Dad is happy to join in with. It has opened up a new life for him which he really enjoys and has given us peace of mind to know he is safe and well cared for. We can’t recommend this Care Home highly enough.

Now mum ishas settled well, she's making new friends, best of which are the staff. I know now when I leave her, she's in good hands and I can worry less.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.489)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.489) out of 10 for Shinfield View is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.907 for Shinfield View is calculated as follows: ( (98 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.907
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.582 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Shinfield View is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 13.2 = 0.682
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
