Overall Experience
Gracewell is a very friendly place. They have been very kind to my Aunt, who came in because she has onset of Dementia. She has been here since December and has really settled in well.
Family are always made to feel welcome and can come and join their family for meals and the activities which are going on.

I would recommend this place as top rate. Staff are always kind and thoughtful to the people, making them feel dignified which is important at any age.

My mum moved into Gracewell in December 2016. Having made the very difficult decision on mums care we received excellent support from the team at Gracewell. Our mum settled very well and was extremely well cared for from day one. The care she receives is of a very high standard, I have found all the staff to be friendly, caring and supportive. The quality of the activities is excellent and varied. The accommodation is of a very high standard and the communal areas are very nice. My mum enjoys the food which always looks nice. Gracewell has a very homely atmosphere, we are always made very welcome and I have enjoyed meeting the other families. The most important thing for me as a daughter is that my mum is happy and well cared for and she most definitely is.

Everyone at Gracewell is fantastic. The care that we see given to my nan is so appreciated and so wonderful, we know she is in good hands. The dedication the nurses have, to the care provided is amazing. We see my nan having fun, laughing and enjoying herself which is wonderful. Gracewell is modern, clean and feels like home. We are lucky to have such wonderful people to help in such a difficult time in my nan's life.

My relative moved into Gracewell in December after a spell in hospital and has benefitted greatly from the care and nursing he has received there. All the staff are friendly, caring and professional. Nothing is too much trouble and we always feel welcome when we visit. Standards are high and the food is excellent. We highly recommend this care home.

The standard of care that our Mother has received has been and continues to be excellent. Carers are very friendly, warm, welcoming and very caring towards Mum and towards us as a family too. We are given clear and honest explanations about what is going on. Whether that be generally or specifically about our Mum and the approach is always friendly. There is a lovely atmosphere within the home and the environment is always warm and welcoming. We are so pleased that we chose this home for our Mum and have every confidence that she is being well looked after and respected for who she is. A huge thank you to all concerned!

The manager and her team have done an amazing job with settling Daddy in and being an incredible support to both my father and my sister. It's a very tough process but everyone is so happy to help with every detail. Daddy is an old fashioned gentleman and the home have been amazing at helping hang his pictures up and to make it feel more homely. Thank you.

I have been here since November 2016. I love my room. My carers are kind, considerate and I am treated with dignity by everyone. I am very happy and have made lots of new friends. We have lots of organised activities and outings arranged by the home.

My 94-year-old mother needed to go into nursing care after 14 weeks in hospital following a fall and hip fracture. She became bedridden and incontinent in hospital. We heard about Gracewell of Sutton as it was new due to open end of October 2016. We went to see the home and were very impressed. Mum moved in, in January 2017. In one week mum went from being depressed and wanting to go home to loving everyone here, joining in the activities and referring to HER room. Seeing as she has acute dementia this was a tremendous leap forward in her condition. The staff are amazing and so dedicated. We know mum will spend the rest of her days very happy.

Overall Experience
Although my review is only based upon 1 week in care for my mother, the build up to that has been a factor in my comments. The home is newly opened, as expected it's very clean, modern with top end facilities so these are a given at this stage.

The important part aside from this is the care. The care thus far has been excellent. The attention to my mother's details and the dignified approach taken towards her is excellent. The new staff so far are excellent so at the moment we are all as a family. Very impressed and happy with my mum's future in Gracewell.

Harriet Mensah-Mandley
Harriet Mensah-MandleyJob Title:Home Manager

I was delighted to join Care UK, as I felt at home with the values the company represents. I liked that Care UK offered clear, meaningful values, focused on what truly matters. I also really enjoyed how welcoming and homely Tennyson Grange felt.

Additionally, I admire the strong support Care UK provides for dementia care, which shows real dedication to residents and their families.

I believe every Home Manager brings something unique to the role, shaped by their background, experience, and the passion they have for care. To be successful, you need strong people skills and a genuine desire to understand how best to support others.

A great Home Manager leads with passion, empathy, and a deep understanding of both the team and residents. It’s also important to be reflective and open-minded, as this allows you to adapt, grow, and enable positive change within the home.

I am proud to work in care because it’s a role not everyone can do. It takes compassion, patience, and dedication, and I value the privilege of making a difference every day. I love that this job allows me to work with a wide range of people, and it’s the residents who truly make what I do so special.
