Sunrise of Sutton appreciate moving into a care home can be an unsettling time. This is why we take the time to engage with family members and friends of the resident to make the process as smooth as possible, to get to know the resident on a personal level. We are pleased to hear you have settled in well.

Gracewell Sutton is a good, well run home with excellent staffing and medical care provided for the residents. They run a range of activities to keep people entertained and it even has its own pub. Obviously care home costs are very high, but when there is no alternative, Gracewell is ideal for looking after people who can afford to pay for the services that they provide and the care and accommodation the home offers.

My Uncle moved into Gracewell as he has vascular dementia and Alzheimer's. I can only thank the members of staff for taking excellent care of him in every aspect of his needs. We are kept informed of any problems he may have and are always made welcome. I would highly recommend to anyone that Gracewell of Sutton will care for your relatives from the welcome in reception to the nursing staff looking after my uncle.

This facility has completely changed my mind about care homes and what to expect. It is a beautifully designed and fantastically run place that offers care, support and nursing with all the services that you would expect, as well as a feeling of stepping into a place with a calm and pleasant atmosphere. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

My mother moved to Gracewell in May 2019 as her health worsened. We were impressed with the quality of accommodation and care she received. The carers build a loving and trusting relationship with the residents and Gracewell seems to be a happy place. Mum died in August, but we have happy memories of her last home.

Since moving my mother-in-law to Gracewell, I have been impressed with the overall care and wellbeing provided. The care staff have been incredibly kind and welcoming, professional and compassionate throughout her time there.
The management have been proactive in relation to her needs, and mine, and established a good relationship all round.

Very pleasant accommodation and surroundings, clean and well maintained.

My father has only been here for a short while, but already feels at home and has shown a significant improvement in his mental well being. I can't fault the staff I've dealt with, who are all very approachable and friendly. It was a big step for my dad to move into a care home, but coming into Gracewell he was made welcome, treated with dignity and now feels part of the family. Small things make a big difference, he mentioned a film he wanted to see and the activities co-ordinator purchased it and put it on in the cinema room for the residents the following week. I feel safe knowing dad is being looked after and very well fed!

I see a resident 2/3 times a week on a regular basis over the last 2 years. Staff have built positive, secure relationships with my friend as well as myself. Facilities are amazing, welcoming the entertainment manager is inspiring and a very happy person who is always so welcoming. The staff on the front desk is loved by my friend and others as well as myself who offers a smile every time and goes above and beyond to make residents happy and settled in the 'Bistro'. Love it at Gracewell on every visit.

My father became a resident on the Memory floor at the beginning of the year having been “rejected” by two other care homes. Overall I have been very happy with his care and I have really appreciated that the staff and management have taken the time to really get to know my Dad and me. I know he is safe and well looked after. Any concerns I raise are promptly dealt with. The food is great and Dad clears his plate and has put on weight. It was a very difficult decision to accept that Dad needed more care than I could give and needed to be in a safe and secure environment. To date, Gracewell has provided this for Dad. It’s not cheap when you are self-funding but it’s more affordable than other care homes nearby who offer similar facilities.

My Mum was in Gracewell for a year with dementia which got significantly worse.
When we visited she was always in bed with no television or radio on. Her glasses were never on her.
She was never put in the sitting room in a decent chair but left in her wheelchair if she was moved.
The sitting room is away from the nursing station and a lot of the residents ended up sitting on hard chairs by the nurse's station.
Many of mum's belongings went missing and were never found.
I think personally there were not enough staff and a lot of agency staff so did not know the residents.
Just because a place looks good it doesn't mean the care is good.

She has since moved to a smaller home and the care is amazing and so different.

Mum was a resident at Gracewell of Sutton for 10 months until she passed. During that time, she, my sister and I were all very impressed with the level of professional care that she was shown. It would be impossible to single out any member of the caring or nursing staff to name individually. They were all stars. We remain very grateful to them for everything that they did for Mum. They certainly went beyond what would be expected of them professionally, sometimes even entering into their own personal time. A big thank you to everyone at Gracewell of Sutton.

I was a respite resident for four weeks after three weeks in hospital. The Gracewell is a very charming, well-run home with superb carers and nursing staff, lots of activities and excellent food. Rather like a 5 star hotel with hospital care. There was nothing they could not do for me and I enjoyed my full recovery there. I would certainly return any time.

Deciding which care home to move my grandmother towas made easy when we visited Gracewell. Kindness, individuality and compassion are what makes it so special. My grandmother suffers from Dementia and she feels so safe here. At times as family members, we have found it tough to watch her struggle with her mind but all the staff are there to help without needing to ask. From the reception to the catering, everyone shows genuine warmth and respect for the whole family. Thank you.

Mum settled here easily. The staff are very friendly and caring of the residents. The activities over Christmas were plentiful, with games and singers in. We were worried about leaving her at Christmas but she had a good time and she gets too confused when we take her out.

Harriet Mensah-Mandley
Harriet Mensah-MandleyJob Title:Home Manager

I was delighted to join Care UK, as I felt at home with the values the company represents. I liked that Care UK offered clear, meaningful values, focused on what truly matters. I also really enjoyed how welcoming and homely Tennyson Grange felt.

Additionally, I admire the strong support Care UK provides for dementia care, which shows real dedication to residents and their families.

I believe every Home Manager brings something unique to the role, shaped by their background, experience, and the passion they have for care. To be successful, you need strong people skills and a genuine desire to understand how best to support others.

A great Home Manager leads with passion, empathy, and a deep understanding of both the team and residents. It’s also important to be reflective and open-minded, as this allows you to adapt, grow, and enable positive change within the home.

I am proud to work in care because it’s a role not everyone can do. It takes compassion, patience, and dedication, and I value the privilege of making a difference every day. I love that this job allows me to work with a wide range of people, and it’s the residents who truly make what I do so special.
