Anyone considering relocating any relative into a care home for residential, dementia or nursing care should seriously consider Gracewell of Sutton. My mother who receives memory care has been there since it opened in November 2016. The care she receives is exemplary, she continues to tell me how happy she is living at Gracewell and how wonderful the carers are. The residents receive weekly visits (if required) by a wonderful GP service. During the lockdown period owing to COVID-19, families have received weekly updates from the management, families have been able to face time residents by appointment and since July 8th we have been able to book visits with one member of the family. There have been no incidents of COVID-19 at Gracewell of Sutton.

My Wife became a resident of Gracewell Nursing floor in Nov 2019.
From that event, she was seamlessly made welcome by all the first-class Nursing Staff and Carers who are all friendly, patient and attentive.
I visited most days until the Lockdown was imposed. My family introduced her to Facetime so with her own tablet computer she makes contact with family whenever she likes. (On a restrictive note, my wife occupies a very noisy room and also the Wi-fi breaks up, sometimes making conversation almost impossible)
We, as a family, are naturally pleased that management at Gracewell imposed the correct decisions in order to safeguard their residents from COVID-19.
My wife takes part in some of the activities arranged and she particularly enjoys the singer and strawberry teas.
We still look forward to the day when we can have unrestricted visits.

We must take this opportunity to record our family appreciation for all the care and attention the staff at Gracewell give to my Dear Wife and Mother.

My mother moved into Gracewell of Sutton around 18 months ago. Overall I am extremely happy with the level or care and support she receives. Everyone is friendly and welcoming, my mother is always saying how nice everyone is - she is particularly complimentary of the lovely food! I have been kept up to date continuously about any changes with her condition - both with the nursing team and management. The latest challenges around COVID-19 have been dealt with very professionally in my opinion and I have been left in no doubt that my mum is in good hands. Moving my mum to Gracewell has been a great relief and I have no regrets whatsoever.

I would just like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Gracewell of Sutton. Mum has been in here now for 2 years and we as a family cannot fault the care and help she has received. Although she has deteriorated greatly, she still manages a smile and seems as happy as she can be under the circumstances.

I think the home have coped amazingly well over the last 3 to 4 months under very extraordinary circumstances.

My mother has only been at Gracewell for a few months but I was able to visit several times prior to lockdown. I found the carers very professional. My mother is treated as an individual. As carers are getting to know her they respect her likes/dislikes and interests. One fetches the newspaper and does crosswords with her, which was her daily routine at home. Nursing staff are very helpful, always open to suggestions from family. We are always contacted if Mother is unwell or has an accident. My mother enjoys keep fit activities, as she was previously very fit and attended the gym until the age of 90! I have not seen my mother during lockdown but in the process of arranging a visit. The WhatsApp/FaceTime calls have been a good idea during lockdown. I would however, suggest notepad and pen to be used by carers to write down messages for residents if unable to hear. This has been a difficult time for Gracewell staff. They have handled the Coronavirus outbreak extremely well and should be congratulated.

My mother moved onto the Memory Floor 14 months ago. We had been in a position to evaluate all suitable care homes in two separate areas of Greater London. Over a year later I remain certain that we chose the right environment for my mother. The staff are friendly, patient and attentive and very supportive of visiting families. I visit at very varied times and on different days and am always impressed. Most crucially, I am very happy at Gracewell's handling of the recent months. Their response to events has been good from the start, but they have sought to refine their procedures and kept developing best practice. Communication back and forth with management and carers is excellent and has been a great comfort in a trying time.

During Covid-19 the introduction of video calls has been great for me personally as I live overseas. I would like to see this continue as a visual prompt seems to work better than just a phone call.

The regular information updates via email have been excellent, letting families know their loved ones are safe and that the care home is taking all the necessary steps to prevent major outbreaks and that visits (for those that can) will be resumed as soon as possible within guidelines.

Mum is very well looked after by all the staff at the home, if there are any problems or she is not well I am contacted straight away. The staff and residents are one big family, they do different activities every day, these activities help Mum with memory and her co-ordination. I cannot praise the staff on Memory Suite enough for the way they look after Mum.

My mum has been a resident of Gracewell for approx four and a half years and our experience of her care and wellbeing has been very good. Unfortunately, Mum has dementia which can make a tough day for the carers, but they always show a great attitude to Mum. We speak regularly on the iPad and when we visit Mum always seems happy. Gracewell is a new facility and is an amazing home for Mum with a great layout and new furnishings. To all levels of the staff team, thank you for the extra special care you delivered during the last three months dealing with the Covid-19, looking after your own families and then going to work and looking after my family.

My mother came to Gracewells mid-January and after being warmly welcomed she has settled in very well. All nurses and carers have been brilliant with her and can't do enough. Myself and my two sisters are always informed of situations occurring with her and general news from the home is always provided. We are happy in the knowledge that Mum is safe, cared for professionally, well-fed and warm in a lovely room. Mum also has interaction with other residents and eats with them in the restaurant which is far better than on her own at her house. Activities are provided and due to all these things she is now more alert. No complaints at all.

Staff are universally helpful, thoughtful and supportive. Rooms are maintained to a very high standard and kept spotlessly clean. Laundry is regularly and quickly handled. Meals are plentiful, varied and nutritious. There are excellent additional services available such as visiting hairdressers and podiatrists, and the home arranges a varied programme of activities and events.

All in all Gracewell Sutton provides excellent all-round care.

I can't thank Gracewell of Sutton enough for the care they have taken of mother during lockdown. I have received weekly emails, and they have facilitated video calls which have been really reassuring. I can see that Mum is calm and well looked after. And I know that the processes in place have minimised the risk of infection to the extent that I don't need to worry. I feel very lucky that Mum is in such a good care home.

My mother has been in Gracewell for several months now.
We are so pleased with the care and kindness that she receives.
During lockdown, it's obviously been hard for everyone but Gracewell have handled the situation brilliantly. The communication to families has been great. They have helped with phone calls to our mother when she was struggling with a new phone and WhatsApp.

It's been hard for her not being allowed visits but she's handled it well with the help of all the lovely staff.

Initially, we needed urgent respite care for my mum who was struggling living at home. We were extremely lucky to be accepted and Mum moved in just weeks before lockdown due to Covid-19. What we found most comforting was knowing that the caring and experienced staff had it all under control. We have been kept informed every week by newsletters from head office and from staff in the home itself. We have had regular video calls with our loved ones to stay in touch which has been tremendously helpful too. The atmosphere is a happy one and everyone is looked after with such compassion and care. We can't thank all the staff enough for their dedication and sheer determination to get us all through these challenging times. We as a family have made the decision that our mum's quality of life has been improved immensely over the months she has been a resident in the home so will be staying.

We moved our mum into Gracewell of Sutton in September 2019 as her previous home wouldn't have been able to cater for her health needs as she gets frail in her advancing years. In comparison to her previous home what struck us most was the standard pricing structure that Gracewell provided, simple, easy to understand and no hidden extras, they even offered to help with the nursing funding application if we weren't sure when Mum needed this additional care.
Rooms are just right for Mum's needs and she has received outstanding care whilst she has been there, really should have made the move sooner. If you are looking to move into Gracewell do so, don't wait, you won't be disappointed.

I highly recommend Gracewell of Sutton as an excellent home to look after your loved ones in a safe and friendly environment.

We've been very happy with the care mum has been receiving and although she's not 100% settled and not happy with the food (and maybe never would be) we can see her improving with the care she has received and she is gradually becoming more relaxed.

We are reassured that she is safe and well looked after. We also feel at home when we visit and always made to feel welcome. Any concerns we've had have been addressed without delay. We're hoping that the arrival a new chef at the end of March will improve the food to mum's satisfaction....the cakes are amazing though (and even now do bespoke cakes for birthdays - which taste as fabulous as they look! A lovely touch to make the residents feel special on their special day).

Harriet Mensah-MandleyJob Title:Home Manager

I was delighted to join Care UK, as I felt at home with the values the company represents. I liked that Care UK offered clear, meaningful values, focused on what truly matters. I also really enjoyed how welcoming and homely Tennyson Grange felt.

Additionally, I admire the strong support Care UK provides for dementia care, which shows real dedication to residents and their families.

I believe every Home Manager brings something unique to the role, shaped by their background, experience, and the passion they have for care. To be successful, you need strong people skills and a genuine desire to understand how best to support others.

A great Home Manager leads with passion, empathy, and a deep understanding of both the team and residents. It’s also important to be reflective and open-minded, as this allows you to adapt, grow, and enable positive change within the home.

I am proud to work in care because it’s a role not everyone can do. It takes compassion, patience, and dedication, and I value the privilege of making a difference every day. I love that this job allows me to work with a wide range of people, and it’s the residents who truly make what I do so special.
