Fleetwood Heights Care Home is situated in Greetland, within the metropolitan borough of Calderdale, West Yorkshire. The origins of Greetland may trace back to a Roman settlement, potentially named Cambodunum. This stems from the discovery of a Roman alter stone dating back to 208AD, found in 1597 at Top Bank in Greenland. There are a number of landmarks, including Clay House and Calderdale Way to be found in Greetland.

What a lovely residential home this is. I look after a gentleman who has autism he was in need of post operative care. We contacted Fleetwood Heights to see if they could provide respite care. We spoke to Fiona the site manager who has gone above and beyond to help Chris settle into life at the home. The staff are wonderful, so caring. The home is exceptionally clean and you are greeted by a welcoming atmosphere. I would have no hesitation in recommending Fleetwood Heights. A fantastic place!
Thank you Anne-Marie for your positive feedback towards Fleetwood Heights Care Home. One of our top priorities is to provide comfort into the home so all residents feel welcomed. We are so pleased to hear how well Chris has settled in. If there is anything more we can do, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Couldn't be happier with the care my mom is receiving from Fleetwood Heights, the staff go above and beyond to care for my mom from the cleaners right up to the management and all in between. The home is spotlessly clean, rooms are very homely, and nothing is too much for the whole team combined... most importantly, mom is settled and happy overall. Thank you to each and every one of you!
Thank you Raye for letting us know how we are doing at Fleetwood Heights Care Home. The care and wellbeing of every resident is our number one priority and it is rewarding to have such positive feedback about how we are doing. Take care & have a lovely day!
My dad was then in his 12th year since being diagnosed with Alzheimer's. He also had skin cancer.
He had his own room with shower room and all the equipment he needed was provided. The treatment and care he has received at Fleetwood Heights has far exceeded my expectations. The staff have been absolutely excellent.
My dad began to deteriorate in November 2025 and his care changed from residential to nursing.
As his condition deteriorated through December the nurses initiative, communication and thoughtfulness for my dad's situation was more than I could have asked for. I have been so very impressed.
In January he entered the end of life stage and Fleetwood Heights with Palliative care helped my dad be comfortable in the final weeks and days.
If I was in the same situation again, I would choose Fleetwood Heights again. A true 5 star service!
Thank you for your feedback and for taking the time to share your experience at Fleetwood Heights Care Home. We are so sorry to hear about your Dad but pleased you felt your Dad received great care and hope that their time at Fleetwood Heights did see some friendships flourish, especially with the care team. If there is anything more we can do, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Take care.
Care is excellent, staff are friendly and caring; there is a wide variety of food options and portion sizes are varied according to appetite, there are activities available to interact but residents can spend time in their own rooms which are well decorated, I would fully recommend.
Thank you Belinda for letting us know how we are doing at Fleetwood Heights Care Home. The care and wellbeing of every resident is our number one priority and it is rewarding to have such positive feedback about how we are doing. Take care & have a wonderful day!
Hopefully their recent inspection will be testament to this.
I would highly recommend this as a lovely place to live, if home is no longer an option.

My experience with Fleetwood Heights, what not to say! An absolutely warm welcome on arrival. The staff all came to meet and greet her and unbelievably so helpful. For me I was able to leave and go on holiday with the knowledge she was in safe hands. The same can be said on my arrival to collect her. On both occasions I was able to see that the building was very impressive and felt secure. Mum's experience whilst I was away, she loved it ,she loved the size of the bed, the room and bathroom. She loved the fact that she could walk to both gardens, she loved the food and even took up knitting again. Would she go again, in a heart beat. I just need a find another holiday to go on.
Thank you for your feedback and for taking the time to share your experience of our home. We are pleased to learn it has been so positive and look forward to seeing you again soon. Take care.

Thank you so much! As you have mentioned, the home is currently being transformed to the high standards our amazing residents expect & we cannot wait to show off the final result. We are also delighted that the home and residents are benefiting from investment in the environment. Some areas of the...
Dad went into this home at the end of August on palliative care fast track. We only had the choice of 2 nursing homes and we were falsely led to believe that Dad would receive the best care possible. It had only just re-opened under new management and seemed to cater for everything Dad would require in his last few months of life. How wrong were we? Dad had no dignity, he was left in bed with no underwear on. He often slept in clothes he'd worn all day. The room that he was in quickly began to smell of urine and the stench in the bathroom was unbearable. The Nurse in charge left the premises and did not complete the necessary paperwork to certify his death so he was just left in his room for almost 10 hours. That home should never have re-opened. The staff were clueless and never around when needed. Some could barely speak English. My dad was a very proud, dignified man and I'm devastated that he spent the last 18 days of his life in a place where he just wasn't cared about.
We are truly sorry that we failed in meeting your fathers's needs at Fleetwood Heights. We have taken steps to understand what went wrong and to ensure the right standards of care are in place moving forward. The staff responsible have been held accountable for the failings within the home. Kind regards
The management and medical staff were absolutely brilliant when my uncle was asked to move from his care home at exceptionally short notice. They were calm and sorted all the necessary medical assessments and paperwork with minimum fuss. They dealt with his former care home with professionalism and courtesy. Guiding me through a difficult process as I live 200 miles away from my uncle. They arranged the transfer and settled him into a beautiful room with all the necessary equipment and fully trained staff to support his care. I could not have asked for more. Thank you all so very much.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughtful review and for your 5* rating. With best wishes
I can not praise Calderdale Retreat enough for the way my mum was treated whilst spending the last eighteen months plus of her life. My mum went to the care home and perked up, making friends with lots of people in there. The staff were amazing, they treated my mum with dignity and respect, they did lots of stuff with the residents and I witnessed this first-hand. I can not praise the staff enough for the way my mum was treated in the last few weeks of her life. The care she received from all the staff was more than we could have asked for. Even down to the respect and dignity in her final hours. They looked after us in the final hours too even after Mum passed. They even had some of Mum's loungewear made into a memory bear for us which was totally unexpected. I can not recommend this care enough to people for their loved ones.
My dad has been at Calderdale Retreat for over twelve months now and I am really pleased to say he likes being there very much. They have got to know his likes and dislikes and everyone treats him with respect. They encourage him to join in the activities and all the staff are lovely with the residents. All areas are kept lovely and clean and the food is great and plenty of it. My dad does get confused sometimes but the staff are used to this and help him feel okay again, so needless to say I am happy with this home.
My brother has been a resident in Calderdale Retreat for several months, he is very well cared for, I cannot fault this care home at all. All excellent apart from activities which are good in spite of being short-staffed. The relevant staff do their utmost in this and all other aspects of this care home.
Many thanks to all.
As soon as I arrived, I was asked about Mum's likes/dislikes, hobbies and background – all to help Mum settle in. The staff were careful to respect that she’s not a socialiser and to let her participate as much or as little as she likes in the activities and gently encouraged her to get out of her room to meet the other residents. She’s receiving the care and support she needs. The staff always let me have updates on how Mum is doing – usually catching me as I make my way to Mum’s room – I don’t have to ask.
Absolutely everyone there has such a brilliant, caring, compassionate approach – from reception, cleaners, kitchen staff, caretakers, carers, and senior carers. It feels like one big family.
The reason I have put poor for activities is because they are usually not relevant to the holiday, for example, for Easter they did eggs which is nothing to do with the meaning of Easter.
It was with a heavy heart to have to place Mum in permanent care. Mum has stayed at the Retreat on two occasions previously on respite care. The large en-suite rooms are perfect for my mother, who is not a sociable character. Her room is equipped with its own TV, which makes mum happy and the added bonus of each room with access to a firestick. Mum developed Alzheimer's during in lockdown 1 and unfortunately is progressing really quickly. Throughout the pandemic, the home, the management team and staff having remained calm, safe and going that extra mile for our loved ones in this difficult time. The home also benefits a visitors pod/centre, which enables weekly visits. We have a family are extremely happy with mum's care. The staff are amazing people.
Throughout the Covid pandemic, all the staff from the management team to the laundry and cleaning staff, have worked extremely hard to provide a safe, caring environment for all the residents. They have installed a Covid safe Pod to allow close relatives to visit their loved ones. It has been a great relief to myself and my family to know that Mum is safe and very well cared for. Thank you and well done to them all.
The care home and staff are amazing, all they have done to care for the residents in very difficult times has been truly wonderful. They have given their all to keep residents happy, safe and well.
