The staff and facilities here were amazing, everybody from management to cleaners were so helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Our mum spent 7 months here and she was the happiest she had been in years. Although she had dementia they all helped her enjoy her life, we cannot thank them enough.

My mother transferred from another care home to Mayflower. Although this was quite traumatic and had lots of teething problems, over time she settled well.
The rooms are lovely and allowed for personal time with mum when visiting.
Various lounges help with choosing the preferred rest area, larger
or smaller with different views.
The food has always been good at both homes. However, the staff and management excelled when it came to the end of mums life.
They couldn't do enough for both mum and us, her family, providing food and drinks continually and giving mum the care she needed at this sad time.
They made the experience as good as it could be, so thoughtful in every way.

My father has been a permanent resident at Mayflower Court for 6 months. The care my father has received in this time has been excellent. The atmosphere is always upbeat, something which struck us from the very first visit. The physical environment is conducive to well-being; the ensuite rooms are
light and modern, there are several comfortable residents’ lounges and the hub area is a great resource for residents and their families.
The carers are fantastic – always positive, endlessly patient and kind. My father always has good things to say about them. The managers are very approachable, responsive and always pleasant to deal with. Recently my father was taken ill and admitted to hospital for a brief stay. While in hospital, my father said that he couldn’t wait to return “home”, meaning Mayflower Court. We are so happy that he feels so at home and extremely pleased to have found Mayflower Court.

My mother as been in respite care since February and though no one should have to put a parent in a home, I feel Bowthorpe Care Village is the right place for my mother.
She is in early stages of dementia and unable to care for herself but I feel the staff are very caring and my mother needs and loves
the daily activities.

My mother has been a permanent resident for nearly 2 months and I am delighted with the professional care and attention she has been receiving. The staff at every level are always approachable, keen to help and responsive to all suggestions. One particular area of good practice is having residents on
interview panels for new staff. My mother really appreciated being involved in this activity recently and there is a genuine commitment by the team such as innovative and inclusive practices.

My mother was a resident at another care home in Norwich for nearly 6 years until September 2016 when she had to be moved to a dementia unit. The manager at Mayflower Court reacted immediately to our cry for help and mum was moved into a lovely ensuite room the same week.
Her care was first class,
well-trained care staff were responsive, patient and kind to mum. She enjoyed her last days there and her death was managed with compassion, for her, and for us. We are very grateful for all they provided.

The visit was lovely mum was very happy, the way the questions were asked and explained. Both ladies had time to listen to mum which mum was very happy with. Mum said it was nice for someone to sit with her and chat as she gets a bit lonely sometimes.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.838)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.838) out of 10 for Mayflower Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.700 for Mayflower Court is calculated as follows: ( (59 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 80 Ratings = 4.7
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.138 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Mayflower Court is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 16 = 0.438
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
