My husband and myself were going through the worst experience of our lives! My fabulous son had a massive stroke and craniotomy, so after hospital's life saving opp he was sent to The Marbrook in February, wow what a wonderful place, the care from the beginning was there! In fact he was quite spoilt with everything, and he certainly deserved this after all he was going through. He is now in hospital, slowly coming along, but myself the rest of the family and friends, will never forget The Marbrook and there wonderful staff, thank you.
My father has been a resident on the nursing ward; Bray since February now.
From day one, not only my father but the family also have been made to feel so welcome.
Nothing is too much for the staff and they are all so caring and passionate about providing the best care.
In addition to great care, the facilities are beautiful and well looked after.
We never feel worried about leaving him here, as we know he is safe and comfortable.
Thank you!
When I came to Marbrook I had no sitting balance and was a full body hoist. I was not able to move my legs. Every carer that attended me was caring and understood my needs. Everone of them. The physio and OT Teams worked together and got me independant within six weeks. My whole family and myself have nothing but praise for the whole staff at Marbrook. Thank you.
My grandmother's experience after her stroke in this centre was extremely wonderful. The staff was very well trained professionally, but also very kind, friendly, and always helpful. As a Romanian, I appreciated very much from all, the staff learned a few basic words to communicate with mt beloved grandmother and not feel alone, due to the language barrier. I always went home peacefully because I knew that it was in the best hands. The Marbrook Centre was even my home, and I felt the staff as part of a family. Thank you, everyone, for everything. I'll miss you! Excellent job. Amazing.
Wonderful staff including therapists, carers, nurses, cleaners and maintenance. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Mum improved hugely while at The Marbrook Centre both physically and with her speech but also in her confidence during her 8 weeks stay for stroke rehabilitation - she didn't want to go there, but 8 weeks later she didn't want to leave due the kindness, care and friendliness of everyone involved in her recovery. The facilities are great, and spotlessly clean, plenty of areas to socialise and for us to sit in lounges/dining areas and do jigsaws with her. The bistro made it feel much less like a care home and more like a hotel. My mum is actually missing the staff. We can't thank them enough and would absolutely recommend to anyone. A very upbeat place.
This was our first visit to The Marbrook Centre and what a fabulous place. We were visiting our good friend who had only been there for one week after being in hospital for a month suffering with GBS. What an improvement! Just in one week her mental health appears to have improved as well as her movement. The physio must be working. Congratulations to all the staff who were all polite, kind and courteous. Amazing.
My stay was very good. The therapists were excellent. Housekeeping and care staff were excellent.
The Marbrook Centre is very welcoming and is clean and feels 'fresh'. It is well decorated and smells nice. Guests visiting patients are encouraged, and dogs are welcome too, which really benefited my mother. The food was excellent, and my mother looked forward to her meals. Most of the care staff were excellent and kind, and considerate. A few were rude and snappy, but the others made up for this. Unfortunately, sometimes my Mum's wishes were not followed, and it was different to see a GP whilst in the care home.
The management go above and beyond their remit to ensure the best possible person-centred care is delivered to my son.
We were referred to the Marbrook centre from another care home. I was initially worried that it was a couple of hours away and my wife would be lonely there. However once we arrived staff were friendly, facilities were first class and it felt more like a hotel than a medical facility. My wife was there for 8 weeks rehabilitation and I can honestly say she looked forward to returning after weekend breaks back home. Staff were attentive, caring and always had time for residents. Food was good and freshly cooked and catered well for her gluten intolerance. Communication was fantastic and visiting was a pleasure with nice gardens and free drinks. Overall a fantastic facility, well run with dedicated, caring staff.
Overall a very good experience. The plan was to get me as able to walk again with a stick which was achieved and to get me able to like certain foods, be able to wash & shower myself & to get me to a certain level to return home.
Wow. First impressions amazing! I cannot express how fantastic this whole team are, from reception, cleaning, support workers, physio teams, catering, you are all wonderful and we felt like part of a huge family and honestly felt loved. Nothing was ever too much for anybody and we had such a giggle with all. My husband's progress was huge within days and a simple thanks isn't enough. You are all the best!
I was at The Marbrook Centre after a brain infection and unable to walk. The staff were so caring, always checking on you and ready to help. After my stay in hospital, I was left with chronic pain and still suffer immense pain. The physios pushed me too far at times making my pain worse. On two occasions I ran out of two medications, I missed doses which I was worried about as it was my morphine and anti-seizure medication. Generally, I found my stay an improvement in my health.
I would be very happy to recommend The Marbrook Centre as an excellent rehabilitation centre. The staff were patient and super supportive of my mother despite her debilitating non-communicating condition caused after a major stroke.
The carers well I can't name names but you know who you are I'm so grateful for you all, you're all incredible people and never change / I'm so grateful for you all making me feel so welcome, loved and cared for. Never made me feel degraded when I felt it myself at some points. The chefs well you're just truly amazing and never complained how much of a pain I was at times, literally nothing was a problem. One cleaner who became someone I looked forward to seeing she was just absolutely a beautiful soul. Thank you all for everything
She was treated with respect and kindness for which we were very grateful.
A great team, encouraging my daughter to exercise, focus on independence and positive outlook.
They have really supported her confidence and have given her opportunities to be the best she can be.
I was a resident on the ground floor 'Eden'. Throughout my experience the staff have always given me 100%, the occupational therapy and physiotherapy team have done an amazing job at setting goals and helping me strive to complete them. Brilliant meals available for all different people so you won't be left out. The carers do an amazing job regarding mealtime and just give you support if required.
The professional are that my brother-in-law received whilst in The Marbrook Centre was outstanding. Thank you so much for all that you tried to do to help my brother-in-law achieve an improved life. Thank you.
On arrival at The Marbrook my wife was unable to get out of bed without assistance and couldn't walk following emergency surgery and a subsequent stroke. The whole Marbrook team have been outstanding, from the carers team, reception staff, and most importantly the psychology and therapists team. She is now walking with an aid, and can move out of bed and into the bathroom without assistance. We're very grateful to the whole Marbrook team.

Meet the Team (9)
I’m a registered nurse and bring a wealth of experience in nursing management, service development and specialist palliative care.
Likes: Spending time with friends and family
Dislikes: Spiders and snakes
Having worked in the care sector as a registered nurse for over 14 years, I have gained experience in numerous nursing homes including a primary care setting.
I am extremely passionate about delivering high standards of care to residents living with a long term neurological condition, a spinal cord injury or dementia.
Leading by example with a hands-on approach, I aspire to demonstrate great skill and compassion with residents whilst exemplifying integrity with my team.
I started my career in health and social care at the tender age of 17 and have since worked in a range of settings including supporting those living with dementia, mental health issues, neurological impairments, autism and learning disabilities. Person-centred care is at the heart of all that I do and I’m passionate about my team promoting quality of life for all residents here at The Marbrook Centre. I know that there is no single approach that is the right way for every individual, I firmly believe in the ethos ‘no decision about me, without me’ and I embed this into the core of any decisions made.
After qualifying as a nurse in 1999, I worked in Critical Care before starting at Marbrook as a Senior nurse in 2016. I am passionate about providing the best care experience for our residents at Marbrook.
I bring twenty years of experience providing medical input to rehabilitation Multi-Disciplinary Teams, treating people with neurological disabilities and limb loss.
Being able to play a role in improving someone’s quality of life is why I love my job.
I qualified as a physiotherapist in 2007 and since then have worked in a variety of settings including large teaching hospital and a specialist rehabilitation center.
I enjoy building relationships with individuals and their families and really getting to know the person, what is important to them and what it is that they want from their rehab here at Marbrook.
My role as the Therapy Lead is to support staff, individuals and their families to ensure the provision of high quality person centered rehabilitation.
I love my job! In a nutshell, I am here to look after everyone and to ensure Team Marbrook has the best tools to do their jobs. So, what are these tools? Well, in the toolbox is good training and support, a nice environment, the best equipment, clear leadership and the remaining space in the toolbox is filled with care and compassion.
I’m a nurse by training, albeit a moderately old one, having qualified in 1985! Since I qualified I have followed the management, rather than the clinical path. I also spent 5 years as a care home inspector in the 90s where I saw the good, the bad and the ugliest of care services!
So, back to why I love my job. I see people every day who have experienced life changing injuries and health challenges. They and their families are truly extraordinary people; their strength, optimism and motivation to be the best they possibly can be, is an amazing thing to share in. This is a constant reminder to me to make every day count, value what I have and not to complain or worry about things I don’t! The icing on the cake is to witness Team Marbrook supporting people on these difficult and challenging journeys with such care and compassion. I am one happy bunny.
I have lots of experience of building new services and care partnerships in the NHS, Charity and Private sectors. My role is to enable all those who could benefit from our rehabilitation skills, a clear care pathway to us.
I have been a qualified nurse for over 20 years. I love supporting individuals to achieve their full potential in life. I am at my happiest knowing that residents are safe and experiencing good quality care. I enjoy working as part of a team and ensuring that systems and processes are in place to allow our residents to flourish.
