I suffered a stroke at home on 10th March. I was admitted to hospital and stayed for 10 uneventful days. I was then transferred to Marbrook; what a difference. I was greeted cordially and then (enjoyed/endured) 6 fruitful weeks towards recovery. Skillful, yet demanding, physio team. Care workers, both day and night shift, care, kindness and bonhomie, also cleaners, laundry staff, chef and drug dispensers all learnt one's name and offered encouragement at every step or sign of improvement. A truly great team without appearing to have a boss. Obviously training, coaching and discipline must go on without interrupting residents' safety and goodwill.

Excellent service received over the 3 weeks my husband spent recovering from his illness. The staff was friendly and helpful and the physios and occupational health workers helped considerably to bring my husband to a level where he could walk by himself.

I am so grateful my husband was accepted for treatment at Marbrook! The progress he has made since he arrived is wonderful, I cannot speak highly enough of the entire staff who work here. They are very professional with the resident's wellbeing uppermost in all aspects of their care. Not only that they also take the time to care about the families and the effect the related illness has on them too! There is not one person, from housekeeping through to the facility manager that doesn’t take the time to speak to you and ask how you are! The food is amazing, and the cakes! What can I say, be prepared to put a few pounds on in weight! I would recommend this facility to anyone for the best possible chance of recovery. Thank you just isn’t enough!

My partner came to Marbrook following a long hospital stay. The rehab centre is wonderful - the care and attention he receives; is excellent. I cannot fault a thing. The staff goes above and beyond. He has come such a long way in the short amount of time he has been there.

This is the best rehab centre I have ever been in, clean and tidy and all you would need. The staff are great and the physios are very good too. There could be a bit more for the residents to do during the day, as there is a lot of sitting around the menu per week had too much pasta and bread but not bad food, pretty good.

Over the past 9 months as a family we have really struggled to find somewhere suitable for Mum and her needs. When I first came to visit her at the Marbrook I was gobsmacked to see how happy she was and what a weight off our shoulders to know that mum is happy and content in her new home. I can’t thank everyone at Marbrook enough for giving my family and myself peace of mind. Times spent with mum are enjoyable and full of memories! A member of staff on reception is amazing, nothing is too much to ask. Thank you all so much!

I came to Marbrook on the 20-8-2019, after spending 3 months in 2 different hospitals, recovering from an awake craniotomy operation, but unfortunately contracted a brain infection, which left me with virtually zero mobility and cognitive issues, which in my stay at the Marbrook of approximately 12 weeks, have advanced my mobility. I am able to walk with a frame and hold conversation once again thanks to the staff at Marbrook. For which myself and partner will be eternally grateful.

At such a horrible time for my Dad and all the family, we arrived at Marbrook and instantly felt at home and totally cared for. All the staff are amazing and my mum, who spent 6 hours a day there, felt loved as well.

I must say the 2 ladies on reception are just the best. I shall miss them so much. Lots of love to all at Marbrook.

Being able to play a role in improving someone’s quality of life is why I love my job.

I qualified as a physiotherapist in 2007 and since then have worked in a variety of settings including large teaching hospital and a specialist rehabilitation center.

I enjoy building relationships with individuals and their families and really getting to know the person, what is important to them and what it is that they want from their rehab here at Marbrook.

My role as the Therapy Lead is to support staff, individuals and their families to ensure the provision of high quality person centered rehabilitation.

Lesa McAnulty

I love my job! In a nutshell, I am here to look after everyone and to ensure Team Marbrook has the best tools to do their jobs. So, what are these tools? Well, in the toolbox is good training and support, a nice environment, the best equipment, clear leadership and the remaining space in the toolbox is filled with care and compassion.

I’m a nurse by training, albeit a moderately old one, having qualified in 1985! Since I qualified I have followed the management, rather than the clinical path. I also spent 5 years as a care home inspector in the 90s where I saw the good, the bad and the ugliest of care services!

So, back to why I love my job. I see people every day who have experienced life changing injuries and health challenges. They and their families are truly extraordinary people; their strength, optimism and motivation to be the best they possibly can be, is an amazing thing to share in. This is a constant reminder to me to make every day count, value what I have and not to complain or worry about things I don’t! The icing on the cake is to witness Team Marbrook supporting people on these difficult and challenging journeys with such care and compassion. I am one happy bunny.
