an agreed hourly charge for this service.

We chose Gracewell of Bookham for our mother, initially for a period of respite care after she was discharged from 6 weeks' hospitalisation due to serious illness. Considerable research of various in-home and care home options was carried out and Gracewell was chosen after a recommendation from friends
and several visits. We have been truly amazed at the progress she has made since she arrived at Gracewell. The staff have been magnificent, the level and quality of care has been wonderful and, as a result, she has felt safe, secure and has settled in quickly. She has been encouraged to join in various activities and has decided to become a permanent resident - the ultimate endorsement.

Gracewell of Bookham is an amazing place with exceptionally well-trained staff who are very kind and compassionate towards the residents.
My mother came to stay in October last year and was in a distressed state after a prolonged stay in hospital. She is now a changed lady. Her dementia is well controlled.
When we visit her she is always well groomed and dressed and takes part fully in the life of the home. The food and activities programme are both very good and varied.
Her birthday, last week, was celebrated by the staff, residents and family. She was moved to tears with the lovely birthday wishes and cake.
Our family and friends are free to visit at any time and always greeted with a friendly welcome. There are lovely reception areas where we enjoy a cup of tea and coffee with mum. She is very proud of her new home.

My Father was one of the first residents to move into Gracewell of Bookham in August. All of the staff were fantastic from the beginning and helped him to settle very quickly. The managers, front desk, nurses, carers, activity manager, housekeeping, maintenance staff and chefs are all very friendly
and extremely helpful. The chef made a wonderful chess cake for my Father on his 90th birthday. The staff made him feel very special and threw him a party and arranged dancing for him which he absolutely loved. The staff play chess and the piano with him and have really got to know him. One of the carers even puts the cricket on the big screen in the lounge for my Father as he knows he loves cricket. I can not praise the home enough. They are extremely kind and caring and very welcoming to families. My Father feels very safe and happy and he enjoys the food. The carers and nurses are outstanding and I feel confident that my Father is being cared for in the very best way by such kind people.

My family are very pleased with all aspects of Gracewell Bookham for my father. Excellent purpose built facilities with wonderful gardens make for a very uplifting experience. Enthusiastic and well-trained staff have certainly helped my father settle at Gracewell. He enjoys his food and appreciates
the good standard of the cooking and variety that is available. Having seen the professionalism of the nursing team there, we are very reassured about this aspect of the care available round the clock for my father. A varied activities programme is available which seems to cater for all sorts of interests.

Mum joined Gracewell Bookham just a couple of months after they opened in October 2017. To date, we have been very happy and comforted by the level of attention and care that the amazing staff provide. We would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone considering it for their loved one.

The staff were all, without exception, friendly and very helpful. We had difficulty getting my mother admitted to Gracewell of Bookham and the staff went to great lengths to assist and help in what was a very frustrating process for me. The level of care and support for my mother was excellent all the
time and the whole ambience of the home was excellent.

I can't recommend Gracewell of Bookham more highly. Sadly my mother only spent 3 weeks as a resident, but she was looked after with great respect, tempered with a little humour, during her stay.

We love the concept of Gracewell. It is bright and modern with large well equipped en-suite bedrooms.
Our 96-year-old friend joined for 4 weeks respite care and has now joined up for permanent residency. All the office, medical, carers and house staff are very approachable and all have smiley faces
and are clearly there as they enjoy the work.
There are a host of daily clubs and activities to participate in if you wish and lovely quiet areas if you want to get away from it.
There are speciality functions and rooms for hairdressing, beauty, cinema and activities. We are looking forward to joining our friend in the lovely dining room sometime. We are made most welcome when we visit including our little highland terrier who cheers up our friend.

Dad moved into Gracewell of Bookham in early October after a year of poor health, which was sudden and traumatic. The realisation that he could no longer cope on his own was difficult for all of us, especially hard for Dad to accept. From the first day he was put at ease, made to feel extremely welcome
and he has settled in completely now. The care is exemplary and Dad has recovered his physical strength from good, nutritious food and the right care to ensure he is drinking properly and taking the right medication. But the amazing part is that all the staff, including reception, management, carers, housekeeping and maintenance, are just so friendly and caring, all respecting Dad's dignity and desire to be as active as possible. This has made him feel part of a true home. He feels he has friends caring for him, not just as their job, but to have fun with - the carers even play scrabble with him in the evenings if they have time and that is an added bonus that means a lot.

An excellent care home with excellent staff at all levels. Welcoming, reception staff all helpful, kind and considerate. Dementia floor quite exceptional with extremely caring and dedicated staff who are patient, kind and understanding of all residents' needs with dignity.


Rooms are maintained to

a high standard. Food requirements are always considered.


A complete feeling of safety for residents. Activities are well run and all residents considered. Management are excellent, which is creating a wonderful work ethos for employees.

I am extremely happy with Gracewell of Bookham. It is a very contemporary style home. The staff are so friendly welcoming and such good fun. The food is delicious with a fantastic choice. The nurses are so caring and helpful with all your needs. Mum and dad are very happy at Gracewell of Bookham and
have settled in well all thanks to the manager and wonderful staff.

Within a week of my mum moving in there was a great improvement her mood. The kindness, warmth and professionalism of all the staff from the home manager to the support staff was obvious. From the start Mum just looked more relaxed and happy than she had for a while. The whole atmosphere of the home
was one of the positivity and 'can do' attitude.

I’m an experienced home manager and I joined Care UK from another big care provider in 2016. I wanted to be part of a more proactive company that would help me to achieve my goals. Care UK has a very good reputation and is well known for caring as much for its colleagues as its residents. 


I believe that, as a home manager, you’re as good as your team. That’s why I always make sure I’m giving colleagues the support they need to do their jobs well. I love walking around the home checking in with them and the residents. It’s wonderful when residents take the time to sit and chat to me and share what they’ve been doing that day.
