My sister has been in the Pisa unit for just over four and a half years, she has been very happy and I know felt loved and cared for during her time there. Sadly, she has no proper memory or words for conversations but she manages well, all because of the care, concern and thoughtfulness of the wonderful
carers and management.

From first contact and continuing, we have received a warm and friendly welcome. When we have questions they are answered promptly and any abnormal events are reported to relatives. Care would appear to be ongoing and timely. We have confidence in the care and security for my wife. Activities coordinators
do a great job.

My mother was accepted into the home late last year and, from the very beginning, the family were pleased with our choice for her.
Initially, she enjoyed being able to go outside to view the animals and sometimes visit the coffee shop with family members.
She receives very good care and any issues
which occur with her health are dealt with and we are kept informed.
The range of activities per month are very good and the staff are well used to Mum's individual personality and tastes, her likes and dislikes.
The recent Jubilee was very well coordinated and all residents were encouraged to take part in a picnic outside, which was enjoyed by all.
Mum has made one friend, who calls on her with her walker when she passes, and they sit together for lunch most days.
We have arranged for the in-house chiropodist to attend to Mum's feet regularly but she prefers me to cut her hair.

Overall, this is an excellent home and they have looked after my father well.
My only criticism is some nurses leave a cryptic voicemail, "call us as soon as you get this message", even when not urgent, causes relatives to worry. Please be clearer.

As soon as my husband arrived here he couldn't stop telling us how nice his room was. His nurse was friendly and nothing was too much trouble, whenever someone was free they took him for a walk outside, which was one thing he missed most. The food was excellent and he was even eating things he wouldn't
eat at home. I cannot rate this home high enough and would recommend to anyone.

My dad went into this care home in December 2019. He received the best care you could want for anyone. The staff were extremely friendly. The food was good. The cleanliness of the home was very good. He sadly passed away on the 25th of June. He received the most dignified care in his last few days.
The management team are very good, if you feel troubled by anything they listen, the deputy manager will do her utmost to help and give her time to you. I felt my dad was safe and in good care, he was always clean. He didn’t want for anything.

My parents joined the home in 2018 with care that was tailored to their individual needs. Within a short time, I was confident that they would be safe, happy and well cared for. My daily visits allowed me to see the considerate and dignified care given to many of the residents. All staff, whatever
their role in the home, were always supportive, professional, compassionate, friendly and helpful. The staff were cheerful and welcoming and ensured my parents always felt special, valued and well supported with kindness. After a year my father died but he had received wonderful care and attention. My mother was helped through her bereavement by understanding and kind carers. The staff foster good relationships with residents but also with residents families and their willingness and cooperation is exemplary. My mother rated this home very highly and she loved the outstanding facilities. Sadly, she died recently but received dedicated and outstanding care. My heartfelt thanks to everyone.

My friend has been there since 1st December and he is doing really well. He is looked after, so clean with nails and hair all done, nice clothes all washed, he is really cared for. I am very pleased with how he is looked after.

My parents were at Casa di Lusso for a 2-week respite stay, Mum, coming from hospital and Dad joining her from home. I was unable to visit before choosing the home, partly because of covid restrictions and partly because I live a long way from Bridgwater and they needed to move quickly, so telephone
contact was a really important part in making our choice, and I felt everyone I spoke with really cared about them, even before meeting them. When they arrived, they were immediately made to feel very welcome, and in spite of having to be barrier nursed for the whole 2 weeks and so couldn't take advantage of the lounges, activities etc (following the necessary PHE guidelines), they both very much enjoyed their stay. I work in a care home myself, and know-how challenging times are at the moment with the Coronavirus, but all the team were kind, chatty and enjoyed a laugh with them. As a family, we are very grateful for the care and TLC they both received.

My father spent his last few weeks at this care home and I cannot fault the staff dedication, the compassion they gave my father and all my family. The home was exceptionally clean and the grounds were amazing. I would like to thank all the team from cleaners to management for all their kindness.

As a family, we are still devastated by the passing of our dear mum. She was in the Pisa unit. Barely a response from the manager only a sympathy card in the post. We had no reply to how our mum fell at night, resulting in a gash over her eye, extensive bruising, and a fractured wrist, or why she fell
as her bed had sensor alarms fitted to alert staff of movement. It appears after her fall that she went downhill, and we were never informed or updated on a decline in her health and well-being. Lockdown and not being able to see her family led to anxiety and communication was an issue because of her hearing. We feel the manager could have gone to see Mum when she was poorly and when she had a stroke, she had every opportunity to see us when we were clearing Mum's room, a little empathy would have gone a long way. If you have a loved one in Casa Di Lusso do keep an eye on them and everything that is going on. Also, demand regular update reports on their health and well being.

I wanted my husband to live his last few days at Cassa, to be clean and comfortable; he couldn't see, eat or drink, this throw numerous strokes, brain haemorrhage and vascular dementia. I walked into his room, on a hot day, just after noon, his windows closed, and duvet on. I could see he was very hot,
at the side of his bed was a yoghurt pot, someone had tried to feed him even tho he couldn't swallow; yoghurt was coming out the corner of his mouth, a handkerchief tucked under the chin to catch it. I called for help; they took the covers off him, I asked why hadn't he had a wash, his eyes were gunged up, his tee-shirt had all food stains, she took his temperature - 38’5, then, at my request, washed and changed his clothes, he died a few hours later. I can't get the image out of my mind, nobody was looking after him, the head nurse was too busy to look at him, this was 3-months ago, I think of it every day.

This is a beautiful care home with light, bright rooms and excellent facilities. It is the staff team that makes it special, however, they are amazing! Always totally professional, kind, caring and compassionate.
They treat residents with total respect at all times and are always ready with a smile
or a reassuring hand.
My father-in-law sadly became ill during the Covid-19 lockdown, and we were unable to visit.
The staff made sure we were able to speak to him whenever we wanted, and when he sadly passed away, they could not have done more to deal with the situation with love and compassion, helping my husband and the family in a very stressful situation.
The home manager is totally dedicated and a very special lady.
We thank every single person at Casa Di Lusso for looking after Dad and recommend the home wholeheartedly and without reservation.

I am an RGN trained at a Leeds hospital 1957 to 1960. I retired completely from nursing in 1968. I last worked at a nursing home in Bridgwater. I have always found the care here of the highest standard with respect for all patients. The manager has been kind and helpful when I needed to speak to her.
The nurses and care assistants have all been very professional. Everyone is very helpful and kind (a truly multicultural society).

My mother and stepfather came for respite after a small illness. Part of the idea was to see if life in a rest home would be appropriate. In the event they decided to go back to their flat and engage a greater level of home support. Their decision was based on a desire to go home and not a reflection
on the quality of staff or accommodation at Casa di Lusso.

This is a wonderful care home which is newly built and has been wonderfully designed and fit for purpose. The facilities are modern and fresh with very nice touches. There is an aviary along with other small petting animals in an outside barn, something my mother appreciated very much. The staff (albeit
I have not met them all as my mother was the only resident for a short period of time) seem very caring. I observed on a few occasions them taking a lot of patience to attend to her needs. The manager excels in ensuring everything runs like clockwork but has great empathy towards people as she is on the shop floor a lot of the time. The home has a great feel and ambience and the residents seem happy there from what I observed, I am only sad that my mum was unable to spend much time there before she passed away in hospital in early December. My only reservation which has nothing to do with the home is the doctors practice assigned, some are better than others and hers were very poor.
