Great Oaks is set in a private woodland and the home boasts a beautiful courtyard and landscaped garden with raised flowerbeds, perfect for joining in with the gardening!

The friendly, nurse-led team provides excellent standards of care 24-hours a day, 7-days a week. They take the time to get to know you, your preferences and your daily routine to ensure you feel always at home.

The only complaint we have, every time we visit we have informed staff that our friend will only eat plain food. No sauce, only veg she will eat is carrots. Even though she is on soft food now, meals are still brought in which she cannot eat.

My sister was transferred to this nursing home from the hospital. The care and attention given to her and the family has been outstanding. Nothing is too much trouble, and the staff pay equal attention to her husband and his welfare.

Although dad was only at Great Oaks for a week and a half before he died, I felt his last days were full of care, kindness and respect. The staff were all very helpful and very caring toward both dad and our family. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I can't thank them enough for making his last
days the best that they could possibly be.

Reception staff brilliant. Care staff extra brilliant.
Care staff are extra busy at weekends and seem to be short-staffed at this time, in my opinion.

July 2019 was the time I had to find a care home for my brother. Our first port of call was to Great Oaks care Home who had vacant rooms available at this time. From the time of our first meeting with their manager, we had excellent help and guidance in arranging a room at Great Oaks.
Based on the
first four weeks in residence I can only confirm our satisfaction with all aspects of care. Most importantly my brother is happy and comfortable with is treatment and care.

The care my mum received was amazing, all the staff went beyond to give mum and the family the reassurance that we made the right decision placing her in to care for the few final months of her life. A very special place with the best staff. Left with fond memories.

The whole experience of visiting at any time is always positive. It is immediately obvious that guests/patients are very well cared for and individuals different needs are catered for.
The entertainment is excellent and especially stimulating for dementia sufferers.
My aunt has been here for 10 months
having moved from a home in Bath. Her improvement generally has been truly remarkable.

The care is exemplary. I visit my father nearly every day and I witness so many acts of kindness. Everyone speaks to the residents in calm, friendly tones and the carers help residents to be as independent as possible. Many of the staff really care. They are patient and give extra time and consideration

My wife was transferred to Great Oaks from the hospital. The NHS could do no more for her and for her remaining weeks she received palliative care. The care she received was outstanding. Her food was specially prepared and her physical comfort in her final days was a priority. I was able to visit and
stay with her without any restriction. She died 28/2/2019.

On my last visit to view Great Oaks, I was immediately impressed with the layout, the wide open spaces, the decor and casual chairs and sofas that enable group discussions or quiet moments. I felt very comfortable in the environment and knew my mother would feel at home. The social programme has been
exceptional and it is obvious how much work the staff put into engaging with the residents. She is particularly looking forward to the better weather when she can spend more time in the garden. She feels safe, loves the food and all the staff love her.

I joined Welford Healthcare in April 2023 as a Care Home Manager at East Street. I have previous experience working within the care industry as a registered manager and working for the NHS. My ethos is ‘If everyone is moving forward together, then we can achieve the greater good for all involved’.


In my spare time, I enjoy watching rugby, taking my dog for walks, and having quality time with my children and family.
