The care is exemplary. I visit my father nearly every day and I witness so many acts of kindness. Everyone speaks to the residents in calm, friendly tones and the carers help residents to be as independent as possible. Many of the staff really care. They are patient and give extra time and consideration willingly.

My wife was transferred to Great Oaks from the hospital. The NHS could do no more for her and for her remaining weeks she received palliative care. The care she received was outstanding. Her food was specially prepared and her physical comfort in her final days was a priority. I was able to visit and stay with her without any restriction. She died 28/2/2019.

On my last visit to view Great Oaks, I was immediately impressed with the layout, the wide open spaces, the decor and casual chairs and sofas that enable group discussions or quiet moments. I felt very comfortable in the environment and knew my mother would feel at home. The social programme has been exceptional and it is obvious how much work the staff put into engaging with the residents. She is particularly looking forward to the better weather when she can spend more time in the garden. She feels safe, loves the food and all the staff love her.

We have only been here for a few weeks and from what I have seen the staff are very caring and attentive and the home is very modern and clean throughout. The food for the residents is outstanding and very varied. Overall the place is very welcoming and just what my family member needs.

Great Oaks has a 'family' ethos where, whether resident, friend, family or staff, it seems one is embraced and immersed in a feeling of warmth and affection.

In another sense, as a relatively new provider to the care market, Great Oaks, as an organisation, is building an infrastructure where the above can be delivered with all the individual care needs of every resident, in a conscientious and perfectionist manner.

Right from the initial viewing and admissions process to settling in my partner at Great Oaks every aspect and care of daily life was explained and my partner's likes and dislikes were noted and are being respected. I visit daily for several hours at a time and able to be reassured that we have chosen the best place. Meals are very varied and of a high standard and there is always plenty of choices. I am always made welcome when visiting and there is a lovely calm atmosphere throughout I would recommend Great Oaks.

Since the moment we first looked at Great Oaks for long-term residential care for my step-father I have been impressed with the overall high standard in all respects. All the staff no matter what their role are very friendly and professional. Rooms both private and communal are lovely as are the gardens where my step-father spends a lot of time sitting and walking. Every effort has been made to make my step-dad feel at home and I only have praise for the care he is being given. We would definitely recommend Great Oaks to anyone looking for long or short term care of a loved one.

During the past few weeks, I have experienced some of the most caring people I have ever met.

My mother also says that all the staff are wonderful and so attentive, always having time for the little things in life as well as the major things carers have to deal with on a day to day basis. The staff walk around with their eyes open and try to help anyone who needs a little assistance or just a little chat, hand holding etc.

I was so worried about putting my Mum into respite care as I wasn't sure how she would get on. We went for a viewing at the Great Oaks and I was very impressed with the reception areas and cleanliness of everywhere. We were shown around the different floors and shown the residents' bedrooms, they were so bright, airy with lovely modern furniture.

We checked my Mum in on the day of her arrival and it was really easy, all the staff were so lovely and caring. During Mum's 2 week stay, we went in to visit on a few occasions. She was very settled and really well looked after. It was very reassuring that we were allowed to go in at any time without giving warning we were coming in.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Great Oaks to anyone and we are looking forward to our next stay.

I was very impressed with Great Oaks Care Home and I knew that my Gran would fit in and be happy there.

The process was great from the initial view of the home, the settling in process and the care that she received. It was so clean, bright and airy everywhere and I particularly liked the different areas that residents could be together and the quieter areas of the home. The terraced garden area was lovely and had a peaceful view over the surrounding gardens.

The meals looked excellent and a wide choice of food options each day.

I felt reassured that we were welcome to go in at any time to see her without calling ahead to say we were coming. My Gran was relaxed and happy and it had a lovely feel from the staff and the other residents.

The Admissions Manager at Great Oaks was so lovely and she really put us at ease with the whole process.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Great Oaks and will definitely use them again.

My husband was at Great Oaks for two weeks respite. We were happy with all aspects of the nursing home for this time. They still need to get patients laundry sorted as some garments returned un-ironed but as it is a fairly new establishment. I'm sure this will improve.

Staff were absolutely amazing in arranging respite for my father-in-law. The team, on the 1st floor, are absolutely fantastic and the food and care are 1st class. Big thank you for everything you have done in making dad's stay a comfortable and caring break away for all.

Can’t speak highly enough of the admissions team who went out of their way to help get my father in care within a day on an emergency basis. We were very impressed with the purpose-built environment which creates a bright, large, clean, modern, free space in which it is easy to feel relaxed, safe and homely.

My father has only been resident a few days, however, the staff appear to be very professional, attentive, kind and are always engaging with the residents as they go about their duties. My father is always addressed first when we are present and is very much included and part of conversations. He seems to be very happy where he is and his dementia needs are being met. Extremely happy with our experience and certainly rate the home and staff very highly.

First of all wow - what a lovely home - My father was admitted as emergency respite care last week. I have been very impressed by the level of help, care and support offered by the staff from the moment we made the first enquiry. We have received excellent advice. Care for dad is wonderful. There seems to be plenty of interaction from staff and he is well looked after.

We love the open spaces and freedom for residents to wander around in a safe environment. Little areas with comfortable chairs and great views enable pleasant times to be spent with visiting family and friends. Bedrooms are of a good size. Everywhere is very clean and tastefully decorated. All staff have been very friendly and there is a great "family feel". Most importantly, dad tells us he loves it here and seems happy. All in all, this is not you're run of the mill care home and I certainly recommend visiting!

My husband suffers from vascular dementia and was suddenly admitted to Great Oaks on a Friday afternoon. All the staff could not have been more helpful and responded very well given the short notice and timing.
The nursing care is very good and all the staff are friendly and kind.

The home set up is very good, it is spacious and light and has helped with my husband’s condition. I’m looking forward to spending time in the lovely garden when the weather improves.

Hi, I’m Helen Lacey, and I’m proud to be part of the team at Great Oaks Nursing Home, which provides dedicated nursing care. With many years of experience in the care sector, I’ve had the privilege of supporting residents with a wide range of needs, including those requiring complex nursing support. This experience has strengthened my commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality, person-centred care.

I am particularly passionate about ensuring that every resident is treated with dignity, respect, and kindness. I believe that excellent care goes beyond meeting physical needs—it’s about truly getting to know each individual, understanding their preferences, and creating a supportive environment where they feel safe, valued, and at home.

As a leader, I take a hands-on and approachable approach, working closely with my team to ensure the highest standards of care are maintained. I am dedicated to supporting staff development, helping each team member grow in confidence and skill so they can provide the very best care possible. When staff feel supported and empowered, it reflects in the quality of care our residents receive.

At Great Oaks Nursing Home, we continually strive to enhance the daily lives of our residents, whether through meaningful activities, strong communication with families, or creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere. It is incredibly rewarding to see residents feel comfortable, engaged, and well cared for.

Above all, I am committed to ensuring that everyone—residents, their families, and our staff—feels welcomed, respected, and supported. Providing care is not just a profession for me; it is a vocation, and I am proud to make a positive difference every day.
