Opened in March 2017, Stockmoor Lodge is a purpose-built home providing residential, nursing, and dementia care, located in Bridgwater.

The home comes complete with a hairdressing salon and coffee lounge on-site and offers a varied programme of daytime activities for residents and day care visitors.

The home is staffed by a team of trained and qualified nurses and experienced health care assistants. Meals are prepared daily on-site by a dedicated kitchen team.

The bedrooms at Stockmoor Lodge are bright, spacious and en-suite, and although furnished, residents are welcome to bring their own furniture if they so choose. Accommodation is situated over three floors, accessible by lift, with views of the Sedgemoor countryside.

A renowned interior designer has combined practical features with colourful, eye-catching detail to create an environment which is understanding of the needs of those living with dementia. She works closely with the dementia services development centre at the University of Stirling and is Chairman of the SBID Healthcare Design Advisory Council.

My godmother has just sadly passed at Stockmoor Lodge. After two previous care homes, we were fortunate enough that, with nursing needs, she was transferred to Stockmoor Lodge. Finally, I could let go and trust the caring staff to give care. I was regularly updated by a very lovely member of staff,
and my godmothers' room, where she passed, was clean, warm and peaceful. This was the nursing unit of the Lodge, and judging by previous places where my godmother had been a resident, in the short term, I think that Stockmoor Lodge would take some beating.
Thanks to the staff on the Carousel unit for the care received and for making my almost 98-year-old godmother comfortable during her end-of-life.

It's difficult to mark "activities" as Mum does not participate. However, all staff are extremely friendly and efficient. I attended a relatives meeting, and it was useful to be kept up to date with developments etc. Mum is very happy here, and we're happy that she's in very capable hands. One minor
criticism is that we don't feel the local surgery supports Stockmoor Lodge enough.

Excellent staff who really care for residents. Food very good - well, smells very good when we visit! Rooms are always tidy and clean. Staff pay attention to Mum - talking to her and keeping her happy. Mum doesn't want to use any social activities, which is a shame, but her choice.
I would prefer
to know that the local GP visited.

Thank you for the wonderful care you gave to my dad in his final weeks. He was only with you for four weeks until he passed away, but I couldn't have asked for better or more caring staff, especially during his last night. The staff on duty were so kind to my mum and myself as we sat with Dad overnight.
They made sure he was kept comfortable, and nothing was too much trouble.
All of the staff who work there are so friendly and caring. I would recommend Stockmoor Lodge to anyone.

Mum has been at Srockmoor Lodge for six months now. As soon as you walk in the door, everyone puts you at ease with a friendly hello. It's very clean and bright, not at all like you expect a care home to be. Most of all, Mum is being very well cared for and seems perfectly happy. Thank you to everyone.

My friend has been a resident for three years, and I have found that she is well cared for by the staff, who consider all her needs with dignity. Whenever she has been unwell, the team contact me to keep me appraised, and I have established a very good rapport with carers, reception/office staff and
the manager over the time she has been a resident. I noted today on my visit how lovely and fresh, clean and welcoming the reception was and the maintenance is in hand to freshen the entire establishment.

Mum has been at Srockmoor Lodge for nine years. She seems very happy. Wonderful staff. She is now 100-year-old, which tells you how well she's been looked after. I would always recommend Stockmoor to my friends. Mum's family are very grateful for all the care and love they give Mum.

It is very sad that my son has MS at 56-years-old and needs to be in a care home, but he could not be in a better one than Stockmoor Lodge. I know that he is well cared for, and also he is happy. The staff have time to spend with him to bring his two sons in, which is very important to him. Stockmoor
Lodge keep me well informed regarding any hospital visits and updates on his health and well-being. I do not worry about my son as I know he could not be in a better care home than Stockmoor Lodge.

Very pleased with the care given from the admin staff, carers and domestic staff. All were helpful, approachable and certainly caring. My husband has had two respite stays and would very much like to stay permanently. What better recommendation than that.

My dear mother was transferred into your care after being in the hospital. She came into you at the end of her life at the grand age of 93-years, which would have been her next age, had she survived, on 24th January 2022. Although Mum had reached the point where she wasn't eating or drinking, but just
"fading away" regrettably, I thought the smell of the food available seems extremely tempting, and also, with Christmas approaching, the facilities had been decorated beautifully, raffle being held etc, or whenever I did see other people staying, they seemed happy as well as being kept occupied when relevant.

Whilst the facility itself can be termed "state of the art" due to rooms, equipment and furnishing etc, the day-to-day running is somewhat haphazard. This is due, primarily, to a lack of basic communication, hampered by high rated of staff turnover and the persistent use of agency staff. There's genuine
good care and goodwill, but a team that does not often work together lacks both commitment and a shared vision. Had we know this from the beginning, our relative would have been placed elsewhere.

There are a couple of lovely staff members.
Hard to name as no one has visible name badges on which is not ideal for residents or visitors. Had to ask for pain relief for my Grandad several times, including the day he passed away as the nurse ‘assured’ me he wasn’t in any pain. Not sure how they knew
that as he couldn’t communicate by this point and passed away a few hours later. The day we went to collect his belongings from his room, we find workmen/contractors in his room fixing his door! No one should have been in his room doing any adjustments three days after his passing. No compassion shown by the person who let us in at reception the day we arrived to collect Grandads belongings either, just the final insult to a catalogue of incidents we have had over the course of his stay there.

I feel the staff are very friendly. I feel safe with him in the care home. He likes the staff. He is showered well, and they are always helpful. I feel they care well for his medical and social needs.

Mum was a resident in Stockmoor Lodge for just under 4-years. Nursing care was needed throughout. When identifying a home for Mum, it was important to find an environment that genuinely respected everyone - residents, relations and staff. Stockmoor was our choice, and it lived up to this expectation.
Mum was extremely well cared for. Having been a nurse herself, she was fully aware of what good care looked like in practice, and at almost every visit to see her, her parting comment would be “they look after me very well here”. Without exception, all the staff - whatever their roles - were friendly and approachable. Throughout her stay, we had peace of mind that Mum was comfortable, safe and in an environment that was spotless. Her wishes were always respected and carried out, and we were regularly kept informed regarding her health. This past year had been a challenging time because of Covid. Thank you, everyone, for coping so incredibly well.

My wife goes into respite one week every month. We are really satisfied with the care she receives. The staff are really friendly. Really impressed with the guy on reception; he is really friendly and knowledgeable. The home is really clean, and the rooms are very nice.
