Stockmoor Lodge

My mum was moved to Stockmoor Lodge from hospital for end of life nursing care. From the moment we entered the home we were made so welcome. I was with her for many hours each day before she died after being there for 5 weeks. My mum was well cared for with kindness, compassion and practical help where needed. All of the staff were lovely and not only cared for my mum but myself and my brother who was there a lot also. Nothing was too much trouble(including someone going out to get kippers for her breakfast when she fancied them and moving her room so she could have a view of the Quantocks) and we felt part of a team caring for my mum. Daisy our dog was also made so welcome which was so important to mum and us and she added lightness during the day both to us but the staff and other residents she saw. Thank you to everyone involved in mums care. you all do an amazing job and we are so grateful that you were recommended to us.

My father was moved from his home to Stockmoor Lodge at very short notice in order to meet his end of life care wishes. He was assessed in the morning and transferred in the afternoon. My mother was also given a room. Both of my parents could not have been cared for any better. Kindness, professionalism and the drive to make a difficult situation as tolerable as possible ran through every staff interaction. A number of our family members visited, and several of us stayed throughout. We were given a nearby room for our own welfare needs, were offered food and supported as if we were residents ourselves - nothing was too much trouble for anyone. As my father's condition inevitably worsened, we were kept fully informed about his status and what steps were being taken to ensure his comfort right to the end. We will never forget what the whole team did for us and my father.

My wife was cared for in Stockmoor Lodge for nearly two years. I visited her twice a day for that period so was able to get a close insight into her care. I was always made welcome and felt support for myself when my wife was specialy poorly. Throughout the time of my wifes declining health the nursing staff worked closely with her GP. Staff of all ranks and levels are all patient compassionate and caring. 110% recommended.

All of the staff gave my uncle dignity and respect in his final days and went above and beyond in his care, they also gave us space to spend time with him which was priceless and very appreciated.

Having had both parents reside at same time both could be challenging at times. All carers involved were caring, compassionate and professional. Really appreciate all their support over past 2 years. Have now lost both parents, so end of chapter for me. A care home to be proud of!

My uncle stayed at Stockmoor for over four years. During his stay he was well looked after and told me he was very happy with his care. The staff were always friendly and informative. And always sharing a laugh and joke with my uncle.

On each visit to see my mum I have found the staff friendly. Staff have treated Mum with dignity and respect and have been most helpful when needed. The management are running a good team and are ensuring the home is running to a high standard. Mum is happy, clean, content - couldn't ask for more.

From the moment you walk into the building, you are made to feel welcome. Every member of staff is friendly, helpful and professional. We are kept fully informed of mums conditions and needs and she is very comfortable and happy. A big thank you to every one involved from me and my family.

My brother could not be in a better place. So well looked after, the staff are excellent. I also liked the patients can have a change of food if they ask.

I visit my brother several days a week, the staff are always kind and friendly, ready to help in any way they can. The home is well equipped, the rooms are bright and clean. My brother is always treated with care and dignity. Would recommend to anyone. My one small gripe, the food is a bit bland and unappealing! I realise they are cooking for many people.

5. Food smells lovely, varied and nutritional.

This is our first experience of a care home and what I have seen and how my husband, the resident and myself, as his wife/visitor, have been looked after has been excellent. All the staff are friendly, approachable and want to help in anyway they can. The rooms are of a good standard and you are encouraged to bring anything in from home to make it more comfortable. All in all I have been very impressed.

Visited mum with our youngest son and his family and found mum already in the lounge. We had a great time with her and the staff were lovely not only to mum but to us as well. The staff get on very well with mum and cater for all her needs. We have always found that whatever staff are on duty they are very caring and very helpful if we have any questions. The same when I ring in always find them helpful. Mum enjoys going to the activities and I have always found Kate very friendly and helpful she is a real asset to Stockmoor.

I was very grateful for the level of care my mother received, for the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff, for the quality of the communication I received, for the cleanliness of all the facilities, and for the quality of the administration. The concern, support and care during my mother's difficult last few days were exceptional. Mum has been in a number of care homes and I have visited a number of others. Stockmoor Lodge is the best I've received and I'm happy to recommend it to others.

The home is spotless the bedrooms and en-suites are roomy and you have everything you need for a comfortable stay . Thank you to the cooks that prepare all the lovely food. From the managers admin staff reception cooks cleaners maintenance activities in my eyes they are Saints but the one thing that really sets them apart is how kind and friendly the staff are and I feel safe leaving my husband in their care and it is completely secure he was happy and content thank you so much.

I am always impressed by the level of care and compassion shown by all the staff at Stockmoor Lodge. This leads to a very happy environment for all who live there.

The staff members at Stockmoor Lodge are a credit to Somerset Care and we hope to have their assistance during future spells of respite. Thank you all.

My mum was a very happy resident at Stockmoor Lodge for 20 months. She loved everything about it, the view from her room, the lounge/dining room, the activities, the food (especially the puddings!) and most of all she loved the staff. They had laughs with her, were so patient with her and provided outstanding care. When she passed away she was treated with dignity and respect at all times. Thank you for making her time with you so special for her & her extended family & friends when visiting.
