Riverside Place is situated on the banks of the River Lea in walking distance to Ware town centre, the home provides quality residential, nursing and dementia care on a permanent and short stay basis. They love learning as much as they can about the people they care for, so your loved one’s time and care is person-centred and tailored to their individual needs, interests and preferences.

There are many different enticing spaces to relax in – from the bistro and cinema on the ground floor, the quiet lounges dotted around the home to the rooftop orangery with balconies overlooking the river. The home understands that residents like to continue to look and feel their best, so the hair salon is open regularly for beauty treatments and pamper sessions.

Mealtimes are an important part of daily life and they know eating well and the social experience of dining are key to health and wellbeing. The home's chefs select a different menu each day, creating lots of home-cooked dishes with fresh ingredients to choose from. Using their in-depth knowledge of nutrition, they cater for any special diets and needs.

Each of the bedrooms at Riverside Place is beautifully furnished and have ensuite facilities and residents are also welcome to decorate it with their own treasured items, pictures and pieces of furniture if they wish.

Dementia training equips staff with the knowledge to highlight the importance of meaningful activities and a stimulating environment for people living with dementia whilst always addressing clinical care needs.

All members of staff at Riverside put the care into caring. From walking through the entrance doors until you leave there is a warm, homely environment. This gives me peace of mind that my mother is 'at home' in her new home.

My husband was transferred to Riverside Place from hospital for palliative care.
The decision was taken out of my hands as my husband needs 24-hour care, I was apprehensive, however, I now know that I should not have worried. Since being in Riverside Place he has been treated with nothing but care
and dignity, kindness has been shown to the whole family at a very difficult time for us all.
The home is warm and welcoming throughout the building, the staff are all amazing, each and every one of them.

Always a warm welcome from the receptionist. The design of the home makes the place feel just like a home, warm and welcoming. The Bistro area at the entrance is excellent. The dining area looks like an expensive restaurant. Love the photos on the walls. Carers/nurses always seem efficient and caring.
The bedrooms are a nice size and kept clean and tidy. Love the Karaoke afternoons. My friend is always cheery and upbeat. Two members of staff in particular are brilliant at keeping everyone happy. Always attentive to people's needs. The staff member's singing is as good as a professional.

I have spent 4 weeks in Riverside Place following a major hip surgery. The chair in my room was much too low. It was changed straight away and with a booster cushion just meeting the height requirement for my condition, I would recommend higher seat chairs to benefit the mostly elderly residents.

This is an excellent nursing home with friendly, professional and caring staff. The nursing staff are first-class, very experienced and available at all hours for whatever might appear.
The care staff are also first-class and very dedicated.

Dad has received consistent kindness and great care from the staff here at Riverside. Staff are always stopping off to joke with him and try to make him smile.
We love the garden and weather permitting try to take him out in it for a walk.
The food is excellent and I often sit with him while he eats
his 3 courses.

We recently celebrated my father's 100th birthday at Riverside. The Orangery had been beautifully decorated and a delicious buffet of homemade food was enjoyed by our guests. Selecting a rating for Riverside is difficult because whilst the facilities are excellent and the regular staff very kind and caring the overall management of the home and communication with is appalling. There have been 3 managers in the last 15 months which doesn’t help with continuity. Communication
with the home outside of office hours is extremely troublesome, this causes great concern if the resident is unable to use the telephone themselves. When the reception isn’t manned e.g. after 5 pm I have had more than one occasion where I’ve called repeatedly throughout the evening to no avail. This is both upsetting and extremely concerning.
Sadly mum passed away almost 4 weeks ago but the communication issue to close and settle her affairs remains. The current manager does not return calls so in desperation I’ve contacted head office only to be told they had not been informed of her passing!
If your relative cannot communicate independently this is probably not the right place for them.

We used the private dining room for my dad's 93rd birthday.
One member of staff in particular could not be faulted and really looked after us and catered for our various dietary requirements. Everyone enjoyed the meal and was a great way for us to celebrate Dad’s birthday.

My Dad was at Riverside for two months receiving palliative care. My impression was that, if you are mobile and able to care for yourself but it’s just too much to be at home then it’s a great place. The shared spaces and the garden are lovely. Food is good and lots of activities with the opportunity
to socialise. We saw some absolutely wonderful caring members of staff. It wasn’t consistent. The palliative care was very very poor. Basic routines for respect and dignity are not followed daily (teeth cleaning/shaving). Few and sporadic checks from the carers and nurses on my Dad, and when they did check on him it was very brusque and for specific tasks such as changing his pad. Whilst feeding him they hadn’t noticed his reduced ability to swallow or made any changes to his diet. Nurses are very hard to find to check on how things have been or changes in the day. The lovely environment isn’t everything - the quality of care and empathy is so much more important.

My husband was at Riverside Place for ten months.
Very sadly he passed away on the 6th February in hospital. No words can express my gratitude to everyone at Riverside Place for the care and kindness given to him and support given to me. There were times when it wasn't easy but the staff always dealt
with the situation in the best possible way. Visiting there for me was a joy. Everyone so friendly and caring. I shall miss those times I spent there. Thank you to everyone.

We joined my mum for her 80th birthday meal in the private dining room at Riverside Place. It was absolutely perfect; the catering manager ensured that all food was safe for my daughter with a nut allergy and all food was served on time in a very pleasant environment. It was great to experience all the kindness and care given at the home to my mother, the staff exceeded all my expectations. Great facilities. We had the use of the top-floor lounge area for a birthday celebration. There was plenty of room for extended family visitors and the integration of 'new family'

I visited my friend for the first time at Riverside Place and was so impressed from the moment I entered into the reception area. Everyone was so warm and helpful. My visit was enjoyable and I was invited along to the afternoon entertainment, which was a husband and wife duo who were very versatile.
All in all, a great place to be a resident. I will be visiting my friend again from time to time.

Very warm welcoming staff as we arrived, really made an effort to interact with my son whilst we visited my nan who is new to the care home. Variety of activities for the residents to keep them busy and the staff are brilliant in trying to integrate the newbies into the existing residents.
