Riverside Place is situated on the banks of the River Lea in walking distance to Ware town centre, the home provides quality residential, nursing and dementia care on a permanent and short stay basis. They love learning as much as they can about the people they care for, so your loved one’s time and care is person-centred and tailored to their individual needs, interests and preferences.

There are many different enticing spaces to relax in – from the bistro and cinema on the ground floor, the quiet lounges dotted around the home to the rooftop orangery with balconies overlooking the river. The home understands that residents like to continue to look and feel their best, so the hair salon is open regularly for beauty treatments and pamper sessions.

Mealtimes are an important part of daily life and they know eating well and the social experience of dining are key to health and wellbeing. The home's chefs select a different menu each day, creating lots of home-cooked dishes with fresh ingredients to choose from. Using their in-depth knowledge of nutrition, they cater for any special diets and needs.

Each of the bedrooms at Riverside Place is beautifully furnished and have ensuite facilities and residents are also welcome to decorate it with their own treasured items, pictures and pieces of furniture if they wish.

Dementia training equips staff with the knowledge to highlight the importance of meaningful activities and a stimulating environment for people living with dementia whilst always addressing clinical care needs.

At Riverside Place residents feel welcome, relaxed and secure whilst also enjoying an active and independent lifestyle. If you’re a little unsure of what type of care is needed, or would like to move in as a couple, they’re happy to help with the details.

We moved my mother here, having been very unhappy with our experience at the first care home we had used. I cannot praise Riverside Place highly enough. The management is superb. Carers are always friendly and helpful and feel motivated and happy in their roles. The atmosphere is excellent. The two
activities co-ordinators are cheerful and have encouraged my mother to participate. The regular visits by hairdresser and beautician work well.
The place has been beautifully designed (it already won an award) and the sunlight and space make an enormous difference to my mother's quality of life. She eats well too.
As Riverside Place is quite new, it is not yet full. Fingers crossed the standards remain as high once all the residents it's designed for are in place.

Riverside Place is a truly wonderful care home. My dad first stayed here for a respite week last December and surprised himself by how very much he enjoyed it. When Dad needed 'end of life' care he was happy to be welcomed back into Riverside Place. He was met by familiar smiling faces who all had
a very personal greeting for him and he was able to relax into this warm friendly happy environment very quickly. Dad was given outstanding care by so many amazing people here and the care that was given was genuine and personal. Every member of staff that we met was without fail kind and dedicated. As a family, who were saying goodbye to a deeply loved dad, grandad and uncle, we too were looked after by the lovely staff. These last few precious days were calm and comfortable and very special to us. I cannot thank the manager and all the team enough for this gift. I would unhesitatingly recommend Riverside Place to anyone.

I work for the NHS Ambulance services and I go into many care homes as part of my job to see and treat patients, so I can see how different care homes work and appreciate. However, this care home is by far the best I have been into. The care. Support towards both residents and next of kin is outstanding.
They meet every need the resident's demands and action things straight away. All the staff are friendly and approachable and always happy to help.

A truly lovely place to be a resident and also a visitor. A beautifully decorated and well-equipped building, which feels so much like a hotel and not a care home. Would highly recommend Riverside Place particularly because of the wonderful staff. They are all friendly, caring, professional and treat
the residents with so much respect and warmth.

The home is very new and modern; more like a hotel than a residential/care home.
We reviewed three homes prior to selection and this was the best. The introductory visit was excellent. Very welcoming, open and reassuring. My mother has been at Riverside for only three weeks so not much experience
of the care levels but all seems to be very good and my mother seems content.
I have had some minor difficulty getting through to staff by telephone.

Riverside Place is a 5-star luxury care home that I can't compare to any other home, due to the fact it can't be compared, as it's as perfect home for those who need it. If you're looking for a care home for a loved one please consider Riverside Place care home with Nursing.

Staff: All lovely, wonderful

and caring. No one could fault their hard work. The Staff from caring, nursing, hospitality, chef, housekeeping and management all are so wonderful people, who are kind and helpful and are a delight to speak to. Everyone will do their utmost to help if it is asked and even if it's not, someone will ask is everything alright. Management is always available and there is nothing negative to say. You will always be offered a drink.

Food and safety is outstanding. Rooms are exceptional with a luxurious feel. The home is very clean. It's cleaner than my own home. Care and nursing are exceptional.

If you don't believe what I have said, have a look for yourself.

This care home is very special indeed. The staff go above and beyond in their care, nothing is ever too much trouble. They listen to the residents and residents family. It’s like a five star hotel for the elderly. I have total peace of mind for my very fussy mother. Thank you to all the Riverside Team.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.597)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.597) out of 10 for Riverside Place is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.597 for Riverside Place is calculated as follows: ( (208 Excellents x 5) + (50 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) + (6 Poors x 2) + (4 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 283 Ratings = 4.597
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Riverside Place is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I joined Care UK in 2018 as a Team Leader. During that time, I developed a real passion for delivering high-quality care and supporting both residents and staff. I later achieved my PIN as a registered nurse, which was an important milestone in my career and allowed me to take on greater clinical responsibilities. Over the years, I progressed into leadership roles, and in 2024 I became Deputy Clinical Manager.

This role helped me strengthen my leadership skills, develop my understanding of operational and financial responsibilities, and gain valuable experience overseeing clinical standards and supporting teams. Through these experiences, I realised that becoming a Home Manager would allow me to make an even greater impact not only on the quality of care residents receive, but also on the culture and development of the whole team within the home.

I started as Home Manager at Riverside Place in February this year, and my first weeks have been very positive. I’ve spent time getting to know the residents, families and the team, which has been incredibly rewarding. The staff are passionate and dedicated, and there is a strong sense of community within the home. My focus so far has been on listening, understanding how the home operates, and working closely with the team to continue building a positive and supportive environment for both residents and colleagues.

What really stands out about Riverside Place is the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The team genuinely cares about the residents and takes pride in making the home feel like a true community. The relationships between residents, families and staff are very strong, and there is a real focus on providing personalised care that respects each resident’s preferences, dignity and independence.

My advice would be to visit the home, meet the team, and spend time experiencing the atmosphere. A good care home should feel welcoming, supportive and safe. It’s also important to ask questions and make sure you feel comfortable with the care being provided. The right home should not only meet clinical needs but also support residents’ wellbeing, independence and quality of life.
