Layston Grove continues to welcome new residents for residential and residential dementia care both on a permanent basis and for shorter stays.

Located in the market town of Buntingford, Layston Grove care home provides friendly and comfortable residential and dementia care for up to 66 residents. The home is located in a quiet residential area, with good access to transport links and local amenities.

Layston Grove is purpose-built and benefits from facilities such as a bar area, hair and beauty salon and is situated in private and secure gardens. Each bedroom benefits from fitted furniture and an en suite wet room.

The Lifestyle Team get to know each resident, working with them and their loved ones to create activity programmes so day-to-day life is as each resident wishes. The catering team ensure that mealtimes are sociable and pleasurable times of each day.

Care colleagues provide individual and compassionate care, by getting to know each individual and building strong relationships with them and their loved ones.

Layston Grove is the most remarkable care home, so glad we found it for mum. The atmosphere when we visit is always so friendly and homely. The staff are wonderful, nothing is too much for them. They constantly communicate with, look out for and interact with the residents and their families making
it feel like one big family. The activities they do with the residents are amazing and go way beyond anything I have seen at any other care home, are tailored to the residents and range from amazing unusual crafts to baking, pamper days, entertainment and film nights (with popcorn). They also regularly take the residents out and about including trips out, meals at the pub and afternoon tea, but also normal things like trips to the library and the shops. It really is home from home. Mum still does all the things she used to be able to do and more but now in a very very effective and pleasurable assisted living environment. I can't fault it. I would live there myself if I could.

An excellent care home, with all modern facilities. The staff are all very helpful and happy and nothing is too much trouble.
My mother has settled in well and she seems very happy and content at Layston Grove.

Mum moved into Layston Grove in May 2018 after many weeks in hospital respite. From day one we have been constantly impressed by the facilities and care provided at the home. All staff are approachable, friendly and extremely professional in looking after Mum. As yet, there are many opportunities provided
within the home and around the local town and the staff are doing their best to get Mum to join in.

Mum moved in during 1st week so a few teething problems to start obviously. She has settled and enjoys being pampered on Fridays by the hairdresser. She had a front seat in the Cinema room to watch the Royal wedding and enjoys the lovely reception after, as did we. She also enjoyed a 1-1 trip to a local
coffee shop with one of the carers. We also had a family afternoon tea in the tea room with lovely sarnies and cakes. Unfortunately mum had to go into hospital to have a Hernia op n lots of care and sympathy were shown.

The care and consideration given to my brother by the staff and management at Layston Grove has been excellent.
My wife and I visited many care homes prior to Layston Grove but nothing came up to their standard. The only criticism I have is that his room could be vacuumed more regularly, having said
that it is only a minor item.

Overall we are very impressed with the home since mum has been here. The staff are excellent and very welcoming.
We haven't seen or heard about too many activities yet but we appreciate it's early days.

My mother has been very happy ever since she moved to this home we are always welcomed by the staff and its a nice place to be, they also arranged a Birthday party for my mum and she was delighted as all the Grandchildren came and there was lots of food and cake.

The carers are truly wonderful. They are professional but at the same time extremely attentive & treat all residents with such dignity. Oakdale owners, their management & ALL staff are so welcoming.
My Mum's bedroom en-suite is comfortable & from the start, we as a family have been able to create
a home from home feel.


MOST IMPORTANT of all my mother is now safe, eating properly, having her hair & nails done every Friday, joins in with armchair keep fit, has started knitting!! Does her daily crosswords with her newly made friend. Thank you Layston Grove.

Cheryl Curnow

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2019

I have worked in care for 19 years, it was my first job when leaving school and I started as a laundry assistant as I was not old enough to be a care assistant at the time. I joined the care team as soon as I was able and soon worked my way up to care team manager, then deputy manager.


I have worked for the Royal Mencap Society supporting adults with learning disabilities, and as a care practitioner, managing a rehabilitation unit for the elderly as part of a multi-disciplinary team.


I joined Layston Grove in September 2019 when we relocated to Buntingford.


I enjoy working in care as I am passionate about improving the lives of the elderly, I am presented with different challenges daily which keeps me busy and the job fresh and exciting.

Janet enjoys her very varied role. Janet loves welcoming all the residents and getting to know them personally.


Janet has worked in an administrative role within the care industry for many years. Working at Layston Grove Janet can combine her administrative skills with her people skills to provide our residents and their families with a warm reception and efficient service. Janet's job keeps her busy but she always finds time to chat with our residents whom Janet considers friends.

Hi, my name is Lizzie, and I have been working in the care sector for over 20 years. My care journey started as a Health Care Assistant for a domiciliary care provider, and this fitted in perfectly while my children were young.


As the children got older, my passion for my work grew. I moved onto a residential care setting where I trained and progressed from Senior Carer to Deputy Home Manager, to Area Manager and then Registered Manager.


I am so excited to have recently joined the amazing and dedicated team at Layston Grove. My priority, as always, is getting to know the residents, their families and friends and the multi-disciplinary teams.
As a team, we work collaboratively with everyone to continue providing the highest standards of care while ensuring that we have a home where we all feel valued and like one big family.
