The home is beautiful and kept to a high standard of cleanliness. The food looked good and the kitchen staff always accompanied whatever my mum wanted. My mum was in Abbey Dale Court for a year. Cannot fault the management team. Fantastic people who would go to any lengths to help you. The care staff
were phenomenal with my mum. Not just carers, but became her friend. If you are looking for a place for a family member, look no further than Abbey Dale. I just want to add a massive thank you to all the staff for their care for my mum till the end and also for the care, support, and condolences passed to us. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for making my mum's final year, a happy one. You are all angels in disguise. Keep up the good work.
Reply from Charlie Allan, Manager at Abbeydale CourtThank you so much for your kind words. I will pass this lovely review on to staff who as you know, work so very hard to build relationships and provide the best care possible to the people who live here. We all become family and I am so proud to manage such a wonderful care team.

My father was in this home for approx 7 months.
The staff were wonderful with him.
His room was immaculate and well looked after.
The longer he was there, the staff made it feel easier at visiting times.
They made the visits easier by listening to us and caring for us as a family, as well as my
father too.
The staff made it for me.
I can never thank them enough.

Moved my Mother to Abbeydale Court last year although I was told by various people not to as there have been issues with Management, which I now see, as we are on our 3rd manager within the past year.

The home is stunning and the facilities are great. I have no complaints at all.

But just had

a letter in giving us a 18% increase for the coming year. I understand there is a need for increases but when we reviewed care homes a couple of years ago, they seem to be running high around the country at around 5% per year, which is double current inflation but to suddenly send through letters saying putting price up 18% - be careful, as where does it stop and it has taken us a year to get my Mum settled and I don't want to move her again.
Reply from Joe Walker, Regional Manager at Abbeydale CourtIt was good to meet up with you, I was really pleased with your description of the home as like a 5-star hotel, I apologise for your frustrations at times when you are contacting the home, I promise we will do better, please do use the telephone number supplied.

Overall I am very pleased with the care and support my mother receives on the 1st floor of the care home. She has dementia, cannot speak very well and is blind in one eye, however is fully aware of all that's going on and very contented. I think this is down to the routine and atmosphere that has been
created by the nurse/leader and her 'dream team' as I like to call them. They frequently go above and beyond their normal duties and just seem to care. If something is not quite right, they will ensure the problem is resolved a.s.a.p. These people are the reason I can put my head on the pillow at night. My only bone of contention is the laundry service, too slow, lost items of clothing in the wrong room/people with the wrong clothes on, although the new management team are trying to make improvements.

I am extremely pleased with the standards of care provided. My brother has been given a new lease of life. I feel that he has improved dramatically by support given by all staff members from housekeeping to senior care staff. He has been shown utmost respect and treated with dignity at all times. He
is socially included and not discriminated against in any way. I have total peace of mind knowing he is safe and secure in a very warm and happy environment.

My father came to Abbeydale Court for end of life care. From the assessment period through to the end he and our family were treated with dignity and respect and kindness, which was just what we needed. For anyone looking for a good care home with excellent care we highly recommend Abbeydale Court and
its staff.

This was my partner's first stay in a care home for respite. Both my partner and I are delighted that this beautiful home accepts under 65's for respite. All staff were warm, chatty, helpful and just lovely towards my partner.
The home is of a very high standard as is the food, which he thoroughly
enjoyed - thank you chef.
All in all, a very positive experience and we would like to thank all staff for making this happen.
100% satisfied.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.774)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.774) out of 10 for Abbeydale Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.774 for Abbeydale Court is calculated as follows: ( (205 Excellents x 5) + (54 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 261 Ratings = 4.774
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbeydale Court is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 109 registered maximum number of service users is 21.8, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
