Overall Experience

My mum has been a resident of Wykebeck Court since November 2018. It was a big, but necessary step to give up her own home and move into care. Mum has settled extremely well into Wykebeck Court and recently said that it was "like living in a palace". The care home is strongly managed, spotlessly clean, with delicious meals and provides a range of fun activities throughout the day. All the staff are friendly and approachable. They care for Mum with respect, dignity and patience. Mum celebrated her 92nd birthday a couple of weeks ago - my wife and I were able to have a Sunday roast lunch with Mum. To celebrate, the kitchen staff made a lovely big birthday cake which was shared with the other residents. The care home allowed us to play the keyboard in the afternoon – both Mum and myself really enjoyed entertaining the residents. All the staff on duty made mum feel very special. It was a fabulous day and one that we will all remember.

At Wykebeck Court, I feel mum's needs and preferences are met by the warm and professional staff, with kindness and understanding. As a daughter still wrestling with the guilt of no longer being able to look after mum at home, the importance of feeling you are placing them in safe hands cannot be underestimated and is invaluable. Thank you.

Thank you for your praise. It can be a very difficult transition for the residents and their families but hopefully, Wykebeck did everything possible to help.

My mother had respite residential care for 10 days. She was very well looked after and was very happy with her care.

The staff kept me updated at all times with any issues even though I was away on holiday.

Wykebeck Court Care Home is warm, welcoming and you are provided with a very positive feeling when entering. You are often greeted by a member of staff. They are always happy to see you. Wykebeck Court has a great management team and all staff are wonderful and very caring towards my mum. She has been a resident for 6 weeks. The team of carers have achieved things with my mum that we were not able to achieve whilst she lived alone. Mum is provided with wonderful care. This helps provide myself and sister with peace of mind.

We are here for a 3-week stay while hospital treatment takes place. At the age of 88 we have also looked at other care homes - preparing for later in life. This is by far the best. The staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble. The premises are fairly new and everything is top quality. Impressive. This review on behalf of myself and wife - wife agrees.

Spotlessly clean and tidy, does not smell. Staff lovely, helpful, friendly, always have time to give updates and a chat. Kind, patient and accommodating. Bupa has high standards and you can tell. Couldn't have chosen a better place for mum, which has the knock-on effect of less stress and worry for the family.

My dad had two weeks respite care here after two big operations. His admission was delayed numerous times but the home manager and team were great and kept in touch all through the process. The care dad received was first class and prepared him for going back to his flat and living independently again. We wouldn't hesitate to use Wykebeck again if dad needed respite care again or if he needs permanent care at some point.

Wykebeck Court Care Home is new, only opened in February 2018. The building itself is tastefully decorated and obviously, everything is new. There have been some teething problems and many, many staff changes for some reason. Many of the original staff have already left? The main concern is the charging system which, for us, has been a nightmare. Incorrect invoices have resulted in large amounts of money taken from incorrect accounts. Very upsetting at a time when you have enough to cope with.

My mum came into respite for 1 week on 14/6/18.
We were extremely worried about how she would fit into her new surroundings having lived in her home for 45 years. This was a trail to lead up to permanent residency.
Mum enjoyed her stay and settled immediately to which we are in the process of making this her permanent home.
Mum and ourselves feel she has found her new home where she is happy, safe and very well looked after.

Thank you.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming to all family members and they were easily found if we needed to ask any questions or to tend to my father's needs. There was a good variety of food and drinks which my father enjoyed. His room was very spacious and bright with a homely feel which made my father enjoy spending time there. Overall, very pleased with the care provided and would be happy to place him there again for his next respite visit.

My mother, although suffering from dementia, has settled in remarkably well due to the constant care has received from both management and care staff. Staff have been very considerate and showed great empathy which has really helped her situation. The rooms are very good and the standard is excellent for cleanliness etc. Laundry is very good service, food excellent, all in all, so far, very pleased with everything at Wykebeck Court.

Julie MayfieldJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2025

I am currently the Manager at Wykebeck Court, having joined the team in March 2025. Before this, I had not worked for Bupa, making this an exciting new chapter in my career within the organisation.

I began my journey in the care sector as a care assistant in a small local care home, and I quickly realised I had found my lifelong career. I have a strong passion for elderly care, particularly supporting individuals living with dementia. Over the years, I have progressed steadily through roles as a senior care assistant, deputy manager, and now as a Registered Manager. I have been working at this level for around five years, gaining valuable experience and insight along the way.

What I enjoy most about working in care is the sense of reward at the end of each day, knowing that we have made a positive difference to people’s lives. Even if we can improve just one person’s day, it feels like a meaningful and worthwhile achievement.

Outside of work, I live in the West Yorkshire area and have three children. Family life is busy and fulfilling, and we all share a love for animals. We have a dog, two cats, and even a pet snake, which certainly keeps things interesting at home.
