From my husband’s admission to Birchmere Mews until his recent death, the manager and her team always treated my husband with respect and dignity. On each visit my husband looked well cared for and happy.
He enjoyed the food, especially the homemade cakes.
He enjoyed taking part in the daily activities and the little outings in BIrchmere’s minibus
My family and myself were informed of any visits by his GP or other health professionals and was kept up to date with any changes in my husband’s condition.

I thank the manager and her team for their kindness to myself and my family daily.

Thank you for reviewing Birchmere Mews in Solihull. Your husband was a much-loved resident and true gentleman. My mother's admission into Birchmere Mews Care Home was extremely well handled under difficult circumstances. The arrangements were all made within 48 hours. The staff are all so kind and communicate with me very well. They have been in touch with me regularly as my mother settles into a new way of life. My mother seems very relaxed and is joining in with all of the activities. There are regular updates on Facebook and it is so lovely to see her engaging with other people and having fun. Her medical needs are taken care of and she has beautiful accommodation. She tells me that the food is excellent and everyone is very kind. What more could I ask? I have no hesitation in recommending Birchmere Mews.

From the first day of my uncle’s admission to the Mews, I have been kept informed and updated every step of the way. The admission was to support my uncle after leaving hospital whilst an assessment of his needs was carried out, when it was confirmed that he needed full-time care, I knew we had already found the place, with Birchmere Mews, to provide this. I know he is safe and his every need is being attended to. All of the staff from the reception to the “ward” are wonderful. I would have no hesitation in recommending Birchmere Mews.

I was very happy to find that dementia care was available at Birchmere Mews for respite, as my husband is blind and now has an Alzheimer’s diagnosis. It was very helpful to visit beforehand and know that everything possible would be done to look after him, as he would be totally dependent on carers in an unfamiliar situation. As far as I understand he was content and benefited from the social interaction with other residents and with his carers. He was able to receive telephone calls and so reassure myself and other family members that he was aware of the situation and would be returning home after the two weeks of respite care had elapsed. I think the situation was difficult for him but he was in safe hands.

Since my father moved into Birchmere Mews, I have been very happy with the service and level of care provided. The staff are very kind and attentive and are always available if I have any queries. My Dad is very well looked after and the staff genuinely care about his wellbeing. They have gone the extra mile to settle him into his new home and are always thinking of new ways to make his days happy and interesting. The range of activities is excellent and I receive photos to show how much my Dad enjoys these sessions. The bedrooms are bright and spacious with large ensuite facilities and everywhere is clean and fresh. The indoor garden area is beautiful and very much appreciated by Dad. I would highly recommend Birchmere Mews.

Overall Experience
My parents moved into Birchmere Mews Care Home just over two and a half years ago. Prior to them moving in, I did a lot of research before selecting this wonderful care home for them.
I have never doubted my choice…every individual from the care home manager, deputy manager, welcoming reception staff, carers, hostess team (including the wonderful chef) activities team and housekeeping, have been so very helpful and kind. Nothing is too much trouble.
Without exception, staff demonstrate incredible patience, tolerance, and kindness, even when dealing with the most challenging of situations.

The last 18 months have been particularly difficult. Very sadly, in May last year, both of my parents caught Covid. The care they were given was above and beyond what we could have asked for. Sadly, my father passed away, but the communication and compassion we were shown from the whole team was incredible and helped to make a difficult situation more bearable.

I came to Birchmere Mews at the end of January, to stay for a few weeks respite and rehabilitation but had to stay for 6 months due to the virus lockdown. Therefore I think my experience has been affected/changed because of this and all the restrictions which ensued. The staff have been lovely and caring and I have made good friends who have helped me a lot. But I feel there has been too much pressure put on them because too many have been furloughed. This has affected everything from care to food, especially in recent weeks.

My mother moved into Birchmere Mews in December 2019 as she was unable to look after herself in her own home. She had always been very wary of going into a home but once she had looked round was converted. She has settled in very well and we are very impressed with every aspect of her life. All the staff are excellent, caring and kind, the surroundings are lovely - just like a hotel and she is very well looked after at all times. It is a pleasure to visit her.

I received a warm welcome when I arrived with my dear daughter the day before I was to become a resident. A few forms they filled in, showed me around Birchmere Mews Care Home and treated me with the courtesy and respect. I was in a wheelchair. The staff took me to an appointment at hospital and back. A lovely choice of food morning, noon and tea time and endless cups of tea or coffee. The place is clean and tidy. Anything is not too much trouble, even nails and hair cuts.
