The home is extremely well furnished throughout, indeed to a very high standard. The bedroom is of a good size and the communal areas are very good. A considerable amount of activities for the residents is provided. The food is very varied and to a very good standard. Probably most importantly the carers are extremely good, help and assist the residents in a very caring and respectful manner. All are very friendly and provide an update on how things have gone since the last visit. A very well run care home.

A beautiful care home, modern decor. The staff are very caring, nothing is too much trouble and always with a smile on their face. Food is excellent and menus well thought out. A wonderful place to be and I have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.

I took my cousin to visit my mother last week. He is a GP on the South coast and had made a special trip to visit. As a GP he visits several care homes. He was so impressed at Birchmere. He said that the space and homely quality of the furnishings were amazing. However, what impressed him more was the quality of the attentive care he saw being shown to all residents. He thought my mother looked better than he had seen her two years ago!

Thank you to everyone on duty on the day my Mum was admitted. After a 100 mile journey, I had imagined the worst, but everyone was so kind, gentle, calm and caring to Mum and to me. Mum is beginning to settle (5 weeks in). I am always made welcome. Everyone is friendly and I am kept informed of any issues. Thank you for caring for my Mum and caring about her too. I definitely made the right choice.

My mother is slowly becoming accustomed to her new surroundings. Staff are all friendly and helpful. Room is very pleasant. A suggestion for communication that staff state who they are and why they're there on each visit as my mother's profound memory loss means she still cannot remember who they are.

Members of staff from every department are kind, helpful and caring to all residents. They show a great level of understanding which is second to none. Their support to families is beyond the call of duty.

From the moment my mother lived at Birchmere Mews Care Home we have never once questioned if she is in the right place. As a family, we have enormous gratitude to everyone who has helped to make her life manageable and bearable for her and us. Thank you Birchmere Mews Care Home.

The staff are very gracious and caring sometimes in difficult circumstances and at all times give the welfare of the residents' priority. When I visit I feel like part of the family. I enjoy the freedom to come and go without restriction.

Since my first review last year I would now say that cracks are starting to appear in various aspects of care. The services promised by the sales pitch are not entirely true and the home only provides care for low-grade dementia, staff are not trained to deal with complex behaviour. That said, the carers are all lovely and work very hard under pressure, shortage of staff at night is a big problem. My mother is looked after well but I believe she does not actually demand a great deal at the moment, things may change so I hope her needs will be met with the dignity and respect that she deserves. I feel at the moment Birchmere Mews are promoting a 5* hotel type appearance with luxurious surroundings but only providing a 3* service which is very disappointing considering the amount charged to live there.

Initially, I was very impressed by the 5-star accommodation that my mother received and the attention she was given by the staff.
Unfortunately, over the past few months standards appear to be dropping drastically.
1. The promise of minibus visits - none since October 2018
2. Activities seem to be getting less and less.
3. Management appears to be non-existent.

4. A review with head office greatly needed.

I am very pleased to say how good the home is, how clean it is and how fantastic the staff are. Staff take great care of the residents and seem to do so much for and with them, which makes for a very happy place for them to live.

As soon as you arrive, you see a smart building and are then greeted with lovely, well-presented staff at the front desk. Any queries they sort. Very high standards of cleanliness in rooms, there are no bed smells unlike many other care homes. There is a relaxing atmosphere where residents seem happy and received individualised care and again any problems or queries are sorted efficiently by staff. Staff members are attentive and friendly and the relationships between themselves and the residents and anyone else involved such as myself (independent caregiver) provide high levels of care. Activities and menus are displayed and all are encouraged to join in and are treated with dignity. 10/10

Since my mother moved here in March, the staff have gone out of their way to make sure she feels at home and the care she has received from everyone is amazing. My husband also had 2 weeks respite here and again, I cannot fault the care he received.

Well done Birchmere Mews and thank you.

Mom went to Birchmere for a month's respite. We were extremely pleased at the level of care and attention that mom received.
There were plenty of activities that mom took part in and she was allowed to integrate her own activities into her stay effortlessly.
The standard of Birchmere Mews is of premium hotelier standard, from good quality and variety of food to outdoor as well as indoor activities.

We will definitely be looking to return. Thank you to all the staff for treating my mom with dignity and care that she deserved.

A well presented, modern, and well maintained facility with all the amenities you could wish for in a care home. Restaurant quality food is varied and nutritious with an excellent choice on offer at all sittings. The staff and carers are friendly and welcoming and attentive to the needs of residents and visitors alike. A wide variety of activities, trips and entertainment is also provided on a daily basis for the residents to enjoy.
