My mum has been here for several years and the place is amazing. The staff, facilities, atmosphere etc are simply brilliant. The staff genuinely care for the residents and have become firm friends with my mum. There is never a dull moment here at Mayfield. There are so many activities organised on an
almost daily basis. Along with the gardens, cinema and its very own pub, what's not to like! Working away, it's so reassuring that mum is receiving such high standard of care. Mayfield View is always spotlessly clean, the food is great, the service is outstanding and the people amazing. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I was shocked today to see how amazingly different my father in law looked today after joining Mayfield View for respite care. He looked a million times better than he did a few days ago, clean and tidy, more mobile and more positive in himself. The staff at Mayfield View have been brilliant from start
to finish. His transfer from hospital was seamless thanks to Sally who really helped us with the process and put our minds at rest that he would be in the best care - and he genuinely has been. He even has his appetite back.

The home itself is clean and welcoming and every minor detail thought of for a home from home experience. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Since my mother had a stroke, that severely impacted her vision and mobility, she has been looked after for five years at Mayfield View Care Home in Ilkley. To say that my family and I, are highly satisfied by the quality of care, services and attention, from the home, would be a large understatement.

Mother

likes to maintain as much independence as possible, during her stay the staff all respect this and do whatever they can to facilitate this. The home provides full services needed to care for mother and, should she need the help or advice from a GP, they can access this far quicker than she could at home.

Whilst the home has good facilities, a clean and safe environment, provides good food, and a great deal of activities and visitors to keep the residents engaged and active, these are nothing without the amazing staff to support them. Despite doing a hard and taxing job, the staff do this with a smile, they like the people they care for and that shows. They not only do this for th

I am extremely at Mayfield View. In fact I would say that if one is not happy at Mayfield View where would one be happy? There are minor irritations, but where in life are there no irritations? I enjoy the independence that I am given, yet I am relieved to know that help is available should I need it.
The food is very much improved from the time I arrived here 21/2 years ago. There is imagination in the choice of menus, which cannot
be easy as so many dietary needs must be covered. Sometimes the cooking of vegetables is a little disappointing. They can be overcooked and soggy. The carers and the other staff are generally very approachable, understanding and anxious to help, often doing more than is absolutely necessary at the time. It is most interesting to talk to them and hear about their individual families and lives, when they have the time to do so. One or two of the night staff can seem surly and unforthcoming at times.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Mayfield ViewWe would like to thank you for taking the time to provide such wonderful feedback regarding Mayfield View.

My Mother has just finished her 4 week respite stay and has now moved on to permanent residency.
From my first visit at the beginning of March I cannot speak highly enough of Mayfield View.
Every aspect of the Homes staffing care is exemplary from the Management, Reception, Entertainments staff, the
Carers, and cleaners.
There is a wonderful feeling of calm and professionalism. The staff team members are all so welcoming and friendly and you can feel the genuine intimate care they have for the residents.
I am absolutely delighted my Mother is staying permanently as a resident.
Lastly the process of assessment, financial guidance and advice given to procure Mums stay was a very smooth journey.
Thank you all at Mayfield View.

There is such a good feeling about Mayfield View, from the moment you walk into the building everyone is lovely, from the warm welcome at reception to the carers and management team, they always take their time to say hello & have a chat.
My mother is law has been a resident for over 3 years from
mid stage dementia to now late stage dementia where she no longer recognises us. This has been a difficult transition for is all but the constant knowledge that she is being well cared for and safe at Mayfield View has been a massive weight taken off us. I have the relish app and can see the photos and joy in her face at the brilliant activities Julie and her team regularly organise ranging from silent disco (her favourite) to various animal visits. I am happy we chose Mayfield View it was the correct decision and I have no doubt it has lengthened the life of my mother in law and made her as happy and content as possible.

We made the difficult decision to place my mum here due to deteriorating Alzheimer's. She stayed for two weeks respite and has since stayed as she seemed so happy! We could tell immediately that she was happy, settled and enjoying all the activities on offer. The staff are always so friendly and professional
and simply lovely with the residents. It has put our minds at ease as a family and most importantly mum seems properly cared for and looked after.

I went for respite care for 3 weeks whilst the family were away. The accommodation was ideal. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and treated it like a holiday. I entered into the extensive range of activities which varied greatly to cater for all interests. The team was very helpful regarding food and drink
to meet individual needs. All staff were caring and friendly. The customer relations manager was extremely helpful in ensuring ground-floor accommodation was provided and in helping book my stay. I would highly recommend Mayfield View.

Following an accident ( spillage) from my green 'filter' on the floor of my apartment. A stain was noticed on my reclining chair, which has not been removed. I await an upholsterer to provide me with an armchair. I have been waiting since (June - August) of 2025. I have no serious complaints apart from
this. I consider I am well looked after, Mayfield, and I furthermore do not have dementia, as most of the residents do. Just one more thing - the light in my upright cabinet is not working. Tim says he has ordered a replacement fitting, but nothing seems to be happening - I would dearly love for it to be working again.

We are sorry to read of the delay experienced regarding your armchair. We understand that the delay was due to awaiting quotes from third parties, however, we have been advised that progress has been made, and the Home Manager would be happy to further discuss this with you.

We are also sorry to read of the delay in replacing the lightbulb in your cabinet. We are pleased to confirm that this has now been replaced and is in working order.

Soft furnishings and expensive fixtures and fittings do NOT provide hands on care for residents, that is down to care staff who, in my father's case, had the authority to make care planning and evaluation decisions autonomously, which were way above their experience and pay-grade. When management were
involved, they talked the talk but little else.
When suggestions, and then ultimately complaints, were made, over a three month period little changed resulting in unsafe care for my father who continued to fall and injure himself until we pro-actively intervened and called 999 ourselves when he was taken to hospital and died 5 days later.
Be aware that on a residential unit, if end of life medication is needed, it is provided by community District Nurses and NOT by nurses within the same building on a different floor. This is standard care home practice but unless it is explained (which it was not) your loved one is left in a limbo of pain and distress.
Be aware - LAST INSPECTED 2019.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Mayfield ViewThank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding Mayfield View. We are very sorry to hear about your father’s experience and the distress this has caused you and your family. We take all feedback, positive or negative, extremely seriously, as it helps us to identify areas where we can improve the quality of our care and communication.

We are deeply saddened by your father’s passing and extend our sincere condolences. We would like to assure you that the safety and wellbeing of all residents are our highest priorities. We acknowledge your comments about care planning, communication, and the provision of end-of-life support. Our processes and staff training are subject to constant review to ensure they reflect best practice and regulatory expectations.

Furthermore, regarding inspection dates, care homes are inspected according to the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) scheduling and their regular review of data. We do not have any influence over their visiting schedules but do continue to work closely with them to maintain and evidence high standards of care.

We appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention. Points = 1

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2020

My favourite part of each day is seeing residents happy.

It’s the most important part of what we do, and it fills my heart with joy, to know that they feel seen and heard.

We aim to make every day fulfilling. To do that you need a good dose of patience, understanding, compassion and empathy. You also need to be an effective listener and be willing to help. Having a great sense of humour is a definite bonus too.

It is important to me that my colleagues feel supported so that they can be the best they can be. At Mayfield View, we work as a harmonious team, maintaining high standards no matter what day or time it is. I feel really proud of the home I have helped create. It is a safe, stable and comfortable home with much love in it.

I’ve been a qualified nurse for 15 years and completed my last level-five diploma in 2016. I have worked in care homes since qualifying and have carried out various roles including clinical lead and deputy manager.

I would say a career highlight for me was when I managed to complete a leadership training programme while pregnant. I also had an article published by Skills for Care, which helps develop adult social care in England. I should also mention, that I won the CEO Recognition Award in 2024 in our team awards which was an honour.

I’ve been married now for seven years, and my husband and I have two children, aged six and two. We enjoy lots of family adventures and eating out when we can.
