After a significant stroke and being unable to be cared for at home, my father moved into the Mayfield View Care Home in August. From the first point of contact, the staff provided exceptional care and we were made to feel so welcome with nothing being an issue. My father's health has improved he enjoys
the meals, and appreciates the care from the staff. The amenities are clean, contemporary and practical, you have the impression you are in a hotel rather than a care home. The grounds and views of Ilkley Moor are magnificent and add to the home's tranquil atmosphere. You may visit whenever you like and the staff are always delighted to look after you. We recently organised a family celebration for my mother and father, and all the staff could not have been more accommodating, providing a gorgeous and private room, buffet, and cakes that were beyond our expectations. Knowing our father is in such excellent and safe hands makes us extremely grateful to all of the Mayfield View staff.

My mother was a resident at Mayfield View Care Home for just under 8 months in 2023. We chose Mayfield View because it was relatively new, was well-appointed with spacious rooms and had the feel of a hotel rather than a traditional care home.
She felt safe. She valued the easy access to the visiting
GP after struggling to get face-to-face appointments with her previous practice. The caring environment no doubt contributed to an improvement in her general health and self-confidence.
She made good friends amongst the other residents and spoke highly of some of the staff.
She found the food quality to be disappointing. Most is bought in pre-prepared then reheated. There is very limited fresh seasonal produce on the menus. We raised this with the management and were promised improvements but these were limited and not sustained.
My mother moved to another care home closer to family and friends which provided better food, cooked on the premises from fresh ingredients by a proper chef.

Happy 5th birthday Mayfield View Care Home!
The residents and families were recently invited to a wonderful party to celebrate and our 92-year-old father, who has dementia, had a great time. He enjoyed a glass of beer and loved the live music. The staff were very welcoming and had clearly put in a
great deal of effort to make the evening a success.
Dad has been living there for over two years now and is happy and content. The staff have been caring and supportive not only to Dad but also to us, as a family.
Mayfield is a purpose-built home with spacious rooms and a lovely garden. Dad enjoys the varied activities and it’s great when the staff send us texts and photos of what he’s been doing.

My Gran was discharged from hospital to Mayfield View Care Home for end-of-life care after a fall at her home. She suffered from Dementia and often became distressed and confused. The nurses treated her with such kindness and dignity and as a family, we felt we could finally relax knowing that she was
getting such amazing and personalised care. The team really listened to us and respected our wishes on what was important to us for my grans last few weeks. The nurses really embraced us as a family at this difficult time and ensured that we all felt comfortable and supported. My 2 sons loved to visit (especially at cake time) and were always welcomed with open arms by the nurses and we were all able to have some lovely last precious memories with my gran when she was calm and content, after a pretty horrendous time in hospital we will be forever grateful for this.

I cannot praise the staff at Mayfield Care Home highly enough for the kind and loving care that they show to my mum and her partner. They are endlessly patient, warm and sensitive giving care that is appropriate and dignified.
The nursing staff keep a keen professional eye on mum and offer/sees appropriate
medical care as required.
The environment is beautiful and there is always something to do and someone to talk to. Mum feels safe and happy in the care of such lovely people.

We feel our relative, who happily stays in bed, is looked after very well. Her room and ensuite are kept tidy and clean. The staff on her floor are cheerful and friendly and show a great deal of respect.
When we enter Mayfield View the receptionists are always welcoming and helpful.

My cousin has been in Mayfield View Care Home since it opened. Since the day she was admitted to the care home, I have been very appreciative of the way she has been cared for. The staff are excellent from receptionists to support staff and all are very caring. As I live so far away from Ilkley it is
a really good thing and comforting to know she is well looked after.
The building is lovely and kept very clean and I have recommended it to friends who live in West Yorkshire.
The only thing I regret is that I do not live near enough to visit regularly.

The nurses at Mayfield were simply world-class:
Experienced, caring and kind. The other support staff were also excellent, looking after the whole family when it mattered.
It was a high relief to have our father looked after in such a good place. The building is new and well-designed. In my view,

My father was only at Mayfield for a short time but the staff treated him and us with dignity and care.
The care was excellent all the staff were very friendly and respectable and genuinely caring. The receptionists were always very friendly and greeted us with a smile.
The facilities are very smart
and the whole ambience is so peaceful with beautiful views over the moors and onto the garden. Whilst my father did not participate in any activities, there was a full diary of events and activities advertised.
I would definitely recommend Mayfield from our short experience of nursing and palliative care.

Following a stroke, my mother had to reside in a care home, and all the family are delighted at the care and attention my mother receives at Mayfield View.
Mother is in a good-sized well-appointed room that she now considers hers. All the staff from the reception onwards are friendly and caring, not
only to the residents but all their visitors as well. For example, after talking about my mother’s love of tennis in the reception, I was phoned a couple of days later to say that my mother's Wimbledon programme had arrived, and my mother was delighted to see it. This simple gesture shows the level of care and attention to detail to both residents and families from the home.
Not only are the resident's physical needs looked after, but there are many activities that keep them engaged and stimulated.

After being in several nursing homes in Scotland and Yorkshire, my mum was one of the first residents at Mayfield View when it opened in 2018 and, undoubtedly, it has been by far the best care home that I have experienced - perhaps because it is run by a family organisation. The care home is beautifully
decorated and feels more like a hotel than a care home. Key aspects for me are:
1. You always receive a very friendly and helpful welcome from the reception staff.
2. Daily activities throughout the week/weekends and a dedicated activities coordinator. Mum has ‘travelled’ around the world with activities focusing on different countries. There are regular/frequent physical activities, eg doubles tennis (balloons over a blow-up net) which she loved.
3. As a relative, I felt part of the home - not something I have experienced elsewhere. Staff knew me by name.
4. Staff showed immense care to my mum and put thought into how best to help her.
I highly recommend Mayfield View.

My father has been living in Mayfield View for a year and a half now after deciding that he could no longer live alone. The staff have always been good, not just competent, but really caring. Since Covid arrived in the UK, I get the impression the level of care has improved even more. While keeping
everyone in the home safe, they have also done all they can to allow safe visits. It is a new purpose-built building, so the facilities are excellent, and his room is spacious and warm with plenty of natural light. We are all really glad we found Mayfield View, and it had a vacancy when we needed it. Thank you.

My mother was 100 when she went to live at Mayfield View at the end of February 2020. We hoped she would have a few years of being royally looked after but unfortunately, she was only there a couple of months before she died of COVID 19 and is much missed. While she was living at Mayfield View, she
enjoyed being looked after (having lived on her own for 15 years) and was settling well into Mayfield life. She loved the food and enjoyed the garden. The atmosphere at Mayfield View is lovely. The staff are delightful and helpful. The rooms and communal areas are light and spacious. Mayfield View is a model care home and is highly recommended.

Even in very challenging times the care and compassion showed to my mum who was seriously ill with very complex needs was exemplary. The nursing staff were amazing and she was treated with dignity and respect at all times. Communication between Mayfield View and ourselves was excellent. The care home
itself is beautiful and also in a lovely setting.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2020

My favourite part of each day is seeing residents happy.


It’s the most important part of what we do, and it fills my heart with joy, to know that they feel seen and heard.


We aim to make every day fulfilling. To do that you need a good dose of patience, understanding, compassion and empathy. You also need to be an effective listener and be willing to help. Having a great sense of humour is a definite bonus too.


It is important to me that my colleagues feel supported so that they can be the best they can be. At Mayfield View, we work as a harmonious team, maintaining high standards no matter what day or time it is. I feel really proud of the home I have helped create. It is a safe, stable and comfortable home with much love in it.


I’ve been a qualified nurse for 15 years and completed my last level-five diploma in 2016. I have worked in care homes since qualifying and have carried out various roles including clinical lead and deputy manager.


I would say a career highlight for me was when I managed to complete a leadership training programme while pregnant. I also had an article published by Skills for Care, which helps develop adult social care in England. I should also mention, that I won the CEO Recognition Award in 2024 in our team awards which was an honour.


I’ve been married now for seven years, and my husband and I have two children, aged six and two. We enjoy lots of family adventures and eating out when we can.
