My mum has been in Mayfield View for almost a year and she is very happy there.
The standard of care is very good and the staff have good rapport with the residents. My mum has particularly enjoyed all the creative and wellness activities which are offered. The home is purpose built and is very light
and well furnished with lovely sitting areas. The bedrooms are also spacious, light and well appointed with an en-suite wet room.
Making the decision for a loved one needing care is difficult but I find the staff very supportive and approachable.
An added bonus is the coffee shop on the premises which is a great place to meet for a drink or snack.

My mum had been adamant all her life she would never go to a care home and then following an accident and ongoing requirements for support due to dementia, she went to Mayfield View for a two week respite stay while we went on holiday. When we came back mum said “oh I suppose I will have to leave now”
and was very downhearted. She had enjoyed such a wonderful time she asked if she could stay and was totally over the moon when she discovered she could. I can honestly say she has never been happier. The staff are fantastic and look after mum brilliantly. Nothing is too much trouble and they will accommodate every wish wherever possible. I have to say I would be very happy to stay there myself, it is 5* all the way!

My mother has been a resident at Mayfield Ilkley since November 2019 and the care, attention, expertise and conscientiousness shown to her has been outstanding.
Communications have been second to none.
Quality of care and infrastructure such as catering, entertainment and attention to detail is five
stars.
Medical facilities and back up are of the very highest order.
I would not hesitate in having them look after me if and when I need care and nursing support.
Reply from Sally Rasmussen, Marketing at Mayfield ViewThank you so much for your review, we're delighted to pass this on to the team who work so hard to care for all our residents. With best wishes, Springfield Healthcare.

My father entered Mayfield View during the coronavirus lockdown which has obviously made the move into care much more difficult for all of us as obviously we have been unable to do anything much apart from by 'phone and facetime' to help him adjust to what is obviously a completely new way of life.
All the members of staff have been incredibly patient and understanding and have made Dad feel very welcome. Whilst their normal programme of activities is understandably limited at the moment, he has been singing, drawing, joining in exercise sessions and appears to be settling in well and making friends. Everyone I have spoken to has been unbelievably friendly and helpful and I look forward to actually meeting them all when we are finally allowed to visit.

Mother was a resident at Mayfield View from March 2019 until she sadly passed away in April 2020 of non COVID related factors. During her time at Mayfield View, the care she received could not have been better. Living 200 miles away, I could only visit her every couple of months, but the communication
with me from Mayfield View was at all times excellent in terms of frequency and content. I always felt comfortable that she was in the right place, being very well cared for in terms of both her medical and physical requirements.
I was unable to be with my Mother during her final days. This said, Mayfield View arranged for me to have several video calls with her and when these were no longer appropriate, I received very regular communication from the staff and management, keeping me advised at all times of Mothers situation. In my absence, Mayfield View ensured that she was kept calm, comfortable and importantly, accompanied, as the COVID lockdown kept me away from her.
I would have no reservation whatsoever in recommending Mayfield View.
Reply from Sally Rasmussen, Marketing at Mayfield ViewThank you so much for taking the time to write a review, we'll be passing on to the team and remembering your mother, her character and her humour with great fondness. We had to move my mother at short notice, from another residential home in Ilkley. From the start the experience of working with Mayfield View was excellent. This could have been a really traumatic time for my mother, but instead, her move actually became a better living environment for her. The staff
have been exceptional from reception to carers, including cleaners, activities staff and management and all other. My mother settled well in her new room, which we were able to personalise for her. She loves the space. The design of Mayfield is such, that the environment is uplifting, rather than depressing, as it can so often be in care homes. My mother often tells me what a lovely home it is. Although my mother has dementia, she has been able to remain on the ground floor which is for residential residents. I have been impressed with the amount of activities provided. Mayfield have coped very well during the COVID pandemic. The written and verbal information provided has been excellent.
Reply from Sally Rasmussen, Marketing at Mayfield ViewThank you so much for taking the time to write a review. Your experience is potentially really valuable for others who may be particularly worried about loved ones moving into a care home environment at this time. We are so pleased that your mum is safe and settled and your comments will be passed to our wonderful team.

As soon as you enter the main reception there is a welcoming atmosphere and the lovely cafe is run by friendly staff.
The carers are kind and patient and take the time to help/reassure residents or just have a friendly chat.
The new Manager is visible and approachable and clearly has plans for
more activities in and outside of the home; a trip to the climbing centre is about to take place!

We recently moved Mum to Mayfield View from a previous Care Home. We had searched so hard to try and find somewhere really special for Mum to live to try and make up, in a little way, for the fact she can no longer live at home since we lost our Dad.
We visited Mayfield View and were immediately impressed
with the facilities, the cleanliness, the amazing rooms and the lovely garden area. Mum is now settling in extremely well and we continue to be delighted with the fantastic care and support she receives from everyone involved, carers and supervisors alike they are all amazing and the time given to us by Management with all the usual questions we have had has been remarkable.
The best thing for us as a family is that we know our Dad would be so happy and pleased that we have managed to find somewhere so special for Mum to live.

Went to see a dear friend who has been at Mayfield for approximately 3 months, was so pleased to see how she has thrived, the place looks more like a hotel than a home, the staff were all so pleasant and friendly, had coffee and cake in the coffee shop, the whole experience was uplifting.

We moved our mother from a previous care home to Mayfield View 6 months ago. Care staff were amazing and my mother's quality of care and well being improved immensely. She gained weight, is extremely clean and tidy and her hair smells wonderful. It is so lovely to visit her now with such high standards
of care and a care home that is like a hotel. The beautiful garden is easily accessible and there is a lovely cafe with such caring staff. My sister and I have no doubt in our minds that we made the right decision to move mum and we feel her life has been extended due to the care and commitment of all the staff involved.

My auntie has been at Mayfield View for the last three months, the home is outstanding, from the minute you walk in and are greeted by the receptionist who is so helpful and patient, as are all the staff who work there, nothing seems too much trouble for either the residents or their visitors, there
is always something going on and all the residents seem very happy.

As a family, we were anxious about my mother making the move to a residential care home but her experience at Mayfield View really couldn’t have gone better.

The staff are all so warm and welcoming and my mum has immediately bonded with her carers and the admin staff. My mum is safe, clean and well

looked after but most important of all has a big smile on her face and is contented. We are so grateful to Mayfield for that.

The space is used well and has a touch of luxury so it does feel like a hotel rather than a care home. Many of the residents have formed good relationships with each other and it is heartwarming to see my mum sharing a joke with the others on her floor.

The £1 tea and cakes at the ground floor cafe are delicious and rival a professional company's! Which really is the icing on the cake.

I am so pleased my family chose Mayfield, it is a very special place and I would recommend it to anyone.

The care home opened towards the end of 2018 and Mum, who is very independent of mind, moved in shortly afterwards. Last week, she told me how settled she was, which is a testament to the excellent quality of carers, supporting staff and management who have become a close-knit and effective team. The
design of the building is contemporary but comfortable, offering sufficient internal space to avoid Mum feeling that she is 'hemmed in'. The lounge and dining area is light and spacious, overlooking a garden which, in the summer, will undoubtedly become a popular safe haven for residents to walk and get fresh air. The range of activities is also developing well, which has helped Mum integrate with other residents. The home is very conveniently located in the centre of town only a short walk from the railway station, which makes it easy and convenient for visitors. There is also plenty of parking. In summary, we are all delighted with Mayfield View and the high standard of care provided.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.731)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.731) out of 10 for Mayfield View is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.731 for Mayfield View is calculated as follows: ( (234 Excellents x 5) + (37 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (6 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 283 Ratings = 4.731
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Mayfield View is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 83 registered maximum number of service users is 16.6, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

My favourite part of each day is seeing residents happy.

It’s the most important part of what we do, and it fills my heart with joy, to know that they feel seen and heard.

We aim to make every day fulfilling. To do that you need a good dose of patience, understanding, compassion and empathy. You also need to be an effective listener and be willing to help. Having a great sense of humour is a definite bonus too.

It is important to me that my colleagues feel supported so that they can be the best they can be. At Mayfield View, we work as a harmonious team, maintaining high standards no matter what day or time it is. I feel really proud of the home I have helped create. It is a safe, stable and comfortable home with much love in it.

I’ve been a qualified nurse for 15 years and completed my last level-five diploma in 2016. I have worked in care homes since qualifying and have carried out various roles including clinical lead and deputy manager.

I would say a career highlight for me was when I managed to complete a leadership training programme while pregnant. I also had an article published by Skills for Care, which helps develop adult social care in England. I should also mention, that I won the CEO Recognition Award in 2024 in our team awards which was an honour.

I’ve been married now for seven years, and my husband and I have two children, aged six and two. We enjoy lots of family adventures and eating out when we can.
