The whole atmosphere at Penrose Court is so warm and welcoming. My husband has settled well there and has a lovely spacious, comfortable room and all the staff are so helpful, kind and considerate of his needs, and seem to go that extra mile, not just for him but for me too. I would like to say a massive thank you to certain staff who have made a massive difference to my uncle's quality of life. After a challenging few weeks, Susan switched from carer to activities. My uncle had not experienced any activities or 1:1 until this point. He is now joining in any activity on offer with the encouragement of Susan and nurse Heather. We have seen my uncle thrive which has had a positive impact on not only my uncle but also my dad, his brother. My uncle now says he loves living at Penrose. Thank you Susan and Heather. It's really lovely to hear that you see the peron we have always seen. Please note my ratings below are since the involvement of Susan and Heather.
Thank you so much for taking time to complete a review and delighted that your uncle is settling in his home. We work hard to create a warm and inviting homely settings for all our residents and we will share this with the staff members you have mention and the positive impact they have created, thank you.
We were treated at all times with respect, sympathy and encouragement. The care for my mother was above and beyond - she was treated with compassion, kindness, respect and dignity right to the last. The care and kindness shown to all the family was more than we could ever have asked for - 10 out of 10! Would certainly recommend Penrose to anyone else.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and we are fortunate to have a very kind and dedicated team who take pride in caring for your loved one and ensuring they were supported and treaty with dignity and respect. We welcome and actively encourage families and friends to be part of Penrose Court Care home family and to play an active role in their loved one care
There are no words to describe the wonderful care and attention given to patients at Penrose Court. My husband spent his final days there, during his time there he received care of the highest standard. Care was also extended to myself. A first-class facility in every aspect.

I cannot praise Penrose Court enough. All the staff are absolutely amazing and so caring. The home is so warm and welcoming and we are always met with such open arms, nothing is ever too much trouble for them. We are a large family and most of us visit daily, we feel like this is a second home to us too! The care, commitment, compassion they have shown to my Mum is outstanding. As a family we are so pleased we chose this home for our Mum, she is so happy in there, she has made some lovely friends and always has a smile on her face. She loves doing the varied activities on offer, they always make it so much fun and include everyone.

They treated our dad with dignity, made him feel safe and cared for, and always took the time to talk, listen, and connect. The warmth and professionalism of Penrose Court was truly exceptional. During such a difficult time, they became like an extended family to us.
They made a heartbreaking time a little easier, and we'll never forget the love and care they gave.
We couldn't recommend Penrose Court more highly .

I have visited a number of care homes in the UK, Australia and (believe it or not) Ethiopia. Penrose Court stands head and shoulders above the others. I have visited a dear friend here a number of times and always feel extremely welcome. The home is light, bright and full of fun and happiness. The staff are super-friendly and attentive. It is clearly a model care home. Please save me a place!
Thank you for your wonderful comments and we look forward to seeing you when you next visit your dear friend.
The staff at Penrose Court go above and beyond to care for their patients to make them as comfortable as they possibly can. They are so friendly towards the patient and their families to making them feel welcome and for the patient to feel at home. Nothing seems too much trouble for them. The food is outstanding with a set menu or made to order if the patient prefers something else. Patients are card for with dignity and kindness.

She has been in four homes before and this is the best by a long stretch.
The staff here are incredible and nothing is too much for them, the care mum is receiving is out of this world.
We cannot thank them enough, it's just perfect in every way, the team are extremely personable.
Mum has had a therapy dog visit her and I have also heard that they also bring a pony into the rooms. Mum cannot wait!
Thank you so much for all you do for her.
Thank you for your beautiful words and it was a pleasure looking after your mum who was very special. Sending our thoughts to you and all your family.
Mother-in-law has the best care given to her by all the staff! They are kind, compassionate reliable trusted always courteous and polite. It feels like one big family and the relatives are cared for as much as mother-in-law is . The manager is just amazing as is the assist manager and that filters down to all the staff.

My wife had a major operation on an ankle and was bed bound for five weeks, followed by limited mobility in a leg plaster cast. During the time she was in Penrose Court Care Home she received exemplary care and attention. I was also made very welcome during my visits. Her room was roomy with an excellent television and brighter windows, with a view of the ever-changing neighbourhood. She is now home but if ever she needed to go to a care home for respite and the like, I would have no hesitation going back to Penrose Court.
Thank you so much for taking the time to complete a review and we are delighted that your wife is settled back home. We work hard to create a warm and inviting homely setting for all our lovely residents and families and we are delighted that this has been your experience from the outset and thereafter.
First class.
Thank you for wonderful comments. Hope you are doing well at home and you are welcome for a coffee/tea any time.
My dad has been at Penrose Court for a little over two years now. He is very happy and very settled. We spent Christmas Day with Dad at the home, also having a Christmas dinner. The table was set in the celebration room as there were six of us. It was set beautifully. The food was fantastic and the staff were perfect. It was a lovely experience. We couldn't thank the staff enough.
Thank you for your lovely comments and that you all enjoyed yourself.
My husband went into care after his dementia became too difficult to manage safely at home. It was easy to choose Penrose Court Care Home as we had personal family experience of the excellent care and management. He seems settled and mostly content. He takes part in the singing and music activities and likes to dance
Thank you for your lovely comments. Will share with the team.
The staff are friendly, caring and although busy do their best for their residents. They keep us well informed of any issues which are usually quickly resolved. We find all the staff very approachable.
Residents are encouraged to participate in the various activities, which are organised each week.
The Penrose Court Christmas party was the highlight of numerous activities put on for all the residents. It pleased us to see my sister stimulated and joining in as best she could.
Christmas Day the dining room and tables were beautifully decorated for the residents' Christmas dinner.
We are very pleased with the care provided for my sister and have no hesitation in recommending Penrose Court.
Thank you for your lovely comments and it is lovely to see her settling in well.
I live some distance from my aunt, so I am unable to visit as often as I'd like! On the last two occasions, her trolley tray looked unclean, and she said she had not had a shower for some time, owing to the fact that there is only one hoist in the home. She could not recall when her hair was last washed. I mentioned this to reception, and they booked her a salon appointment - surely, her hair being washed should be during a shower!
Thank you for your comments and it is disappointing to see the above area of concerns, which we continue to address. Please be reassured that we have more than one hoist in the home and we continue to review our care and equipment we have at Penrose Court. Please feel free to come and discuss any concerns when you visit at Penrose Court.

I am a registered general nurse with over 11 years of experience working across the UK health and social care sector. Throughout my career, I have held a variety of clinical and leadership roles, giving me a broad understanding of delivering high-quality, person-centred care. I have achieved my NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Health and Social Care (Children and Young People and Adults) and am also a qualified Mental Health First Aider.
I am passionate about providing outstanding care and supporting both residents and staff to thrive. For me, a successful day is one where I leave knowing that I have made a positive difference to the lives of our residents by helping them feel valued, supported, and empowered to live fulfilling lives.
What makes Penrose Court so special is its commitment to treating every resident as an individual. I am proud to work alongside a dedicated team who consistently go the extra mile to enhance both the quality of care we provide and the quality of life of everyone who calls Penrose Court home.

Having previously studied at Herts University, Jade completed a foundation degree and became a nursing associate. Jade then went straight into a top-up degree to become a qualified nurse. Recently qualifying at the end of last year, Jade has worked at Penrose Court since it opened as bank staff and is now full-time. Jade has been in the care industry for over 10 years, working in the community and other private care homes.

With 14 years of experience in the care home sector, Susan’s passion for providing the highest standard of care to residents has never wavered. They feel privileged to be part of the warm and welcoming environment at Penrose Court and are proud to be a much-valued member of the team.
In February 2026, Susan decided to make a change and join our Activities Coordinators team.

Hi, I am Jay. I am part of the activities team and I run Cut and Glow, our in-house salon here at Penrose Court.
I have been with Penrose since September 2018, just before it opened. I started as part of the care team and then transitioned into my current position. This is not my first time working in a care home as I have previously worked as an activities manager. This is the first salon I have run but I have been cutting hair for 38 years, I know I do not look old enough. I have held a number of jobs over the years, but they have all revolved around people as this has always been a passion. The best part of my job is interacting with the residents.
My passion for activities, particularly arts and crafts continues outside of work as I have my own crafting business. I also love spending time with my family, my favourite afternoons are spent watching Jurassic Park with my grandchildren.

Misty joined our Activities Co-ordinator Team towards the end of 2024. She loves playing games with the residents and making them smile.

Sue started working at Penrose Court in January 2022. She is part of our great housekeeping team and she thoroughly enjoys her duties which can also include activities with the residents. Her favourite part of her day is building friendships with the residents. Sue considers it a privilege and a pleasure to work at Penrose Court.

Jo joined us here at Penrose Court in August 2023. She is a part of our amazing Housekeeping team, helping keep the home clean for our wonderful Residents. Jo is very dedicated to her work and enjoys spending time and bonding with our Residents, always making them smile.
In Jo's spare time, she loves looking after her grandchildren and going camping.

Emily joined Penrose Court at the end of April 2024. She also works alongside the administrator helping with any additional Admin tasks. Emily has really enjoyed getting to know all the residents and forming a friendship with them and their family members.

Paul is the weekend receptionist here at Penrose Court
Paul joined quite recently and has been here since the beginning of February but is often told by colleagues and residents alike that it seems like he’s been here for a lot longer. This is Paul’s first time working in the care environment but is finding it very enjoyable and rewarding.
Paul’s background hails from the Civil Service, where he took early retirement after spending over 30 years at the Department of Transport but wasn’t ready to give up and when this job came up it was a 3-minute commute from my home by foot. Paul is also a Magistrate for Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire since joining the bench in 2008 and the requirements here at Penrose Court allow Paul to continue making a difference to the local community.
Paul’s passion for making a difference to people is fully satisfied in this job by the interaction with the residents and their families.

Frances has been with us at Penrose Court since 2019.
