On my return to Penrose Court working with our nominated NHS doctor, I received such good empathy and understanding and constant monitoring of my health and welfare. My whole mental and physical welfare has improved so much that I regained my confidence and independence. Penrose Court is my forever home.
Thank you so much for your wonderful comments and it is brilliant to see you back to your former self.
Both our mum and dad became residents at Penrose Court on a permanent basis in January of this year. My mother has dementia and my father has restricted mobility. From the onset, the management at home has made every possible effort to make sure that my parent's needs were met however complex. Having been married for 60 years, their worlds have been turned upside down. However, due to the absolute professional and dedicated care shown by the staff, their residency in the home has been beyond our family's expectations. Due to the complex needs presented by our mum, the nurses and carers have not only displayed their individual professionalism and empathy but a willingness to go the extra mile. Whilst having referred to the nurses and carers, the domestic staff who maintain the home to an exacting standard also have daily contact with both my parents and support them whenever the need arises. I would conclude that recently, with the assistance of the home manager, the administration, the nurses and senior carers at the home, we have been successful in securing continuous healthcare funding for my mum. Thank you all at Penrose Court.
Thank you for your lovely comments and we will share with the team.
My 93 year old father has been a resident at Penrose Court for over 2 years. He receives a high standard of care for his dementia and is treated with respect and kindness. The Home is positive and caring for everyone's needs. He enjoys the singing and music activities and particularly Jukebox Legends which gets him dancing to the music! He sometime takes part in the Pilates classes. Exercise is so important for all ages. Well done Penrose Court.
Thank you for this and we will share with our team.
Excellent service, the staff have gone above and beyond to ensure my mother settled into care home life. Great surroundings, daily activities and a great environment where I know she will be well looked after, safe and happy.
The staff are professional and so kind. Always ready to discuss any changes or alternatives for care. Penrose Court is spotless and the garden is a joy. The atmosphere is relaxed and Dad loved it when his little dog came to visit. He was, for a short time, more like his old self.
Thank you Warren for your lovely comments and will share them with the team. We look forward to seeing your dad's dog here again.
My mum received end of life care at Penrose Court. From the first moment of her arrival, to her sad passing three weeks later, she received the most loving, kind and tender care from every single member of staff. Their patience and genuine love of their residents absolutely shone through. They gave my mum their time, often just a gentle word or reassuring touch, that meant so much to not just us, but her also. I cannot thank Penrose Court enough for taking my mum into their home and hearts and treating her and us as family.
Thank you for your lovely words and will share this with the team.
My dad like's it at Penrose Court Care Home and settled in very quickly and is very happy there. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. I do get told from him that the food's very good and plenty of and everywhere is very clean and tidy.
Thank you for your lovely comments, I will share with the team.
It’s a relief to know our friend is being well looked after, thank you.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments, I will share them with the team.
My mum has been a resident since the start of the year. She took a while to settle but is now generally happy. I am happy that she is safe and all her health issues are now dealt with by the care home, giving me peace of mind. Mum has participated in some of the activities e.g bingo. We are somewhat disappointed that she cannot have her hair shampooed and set as often as liked because only one hairdresser and too busy. Mum is very keen on wildflowers and enjoys looking at the gardens outside, so extremely disappointed today as they were all mowed down, we feel some areas could have been left unmowed for Mum's enjoyment.
Thank you so much for your response. We have talked to the gardeners and they have now identified an area that will be the wild gardens so your mum can have some wildflowers.
My experience has been excellent from day one and I have been very comfortable and secure form day one.
As a team, we try and provide the best care possible based on everyone's individual needs and are so pleased that you feel safe and happy with your care. We will share this with our team.
His family, whilst struggling with this move, are so grateful for the constant care he gets and have a sense of security that the staff members they speak to are working hard to get to know our friend. As a long tome friend of this resident we too, whilst saddened, are very grateful that we too have experienced warmth and friendliness.
We are grateful to hear that, thank you Kate for your feedback.
The staff know my aunt so well, they all care deeply about the residents. There is always a friendly welcome from the reception staff. Thank you. The nominated carers are always on hand to discuss the ever-changing needs of my aunt and respect both her and our wishes towards the "end of life" provision.
Thank you for the review and comments. We will share this with all the team.
My husband was very confused to begin with and was quite aggressive when being given personal care. After a month, he became calm and very content. Carers were very patient and understanding. Their patience with him has paid off and now he knows the daily routine he just accepts it. Very impressed.
Thank you for your comments and I will share with the team.
My husband was welcomed and made comfortable with understanding of his limited cognitive ability. The superb care given to him reassured him and stimulated positive responses from him so that I knew he was safe and in the very best place I could arrange until the end of his life which sadly was the 8th of August 22 only ten weeks later. The kindness and professional, emotional care for him, myself and my family was outstanding.
I will share this feedback with the team, and you are welcome to visit the home. Wishing you and your family all the best.
The staff are very pleasant, interact with my mum who has Alzheimer's and needs carers with patience. Since the end of lockdown, it's been lovely to take Mum out and see her in the garden at the care home, especially at the jubilee celebration.
Thank you for your lovely comments and we enjoy planning activities etc for all our residents.
The home provides good care and is beautifully kept - always clean and tidy
The food is always good with a variety of choice and different foods.
The activities for Dementia residents could be improved but there is talk of a sensory room to be put in place.
I also think walks in the garden would be beneficial especially for Mum - just a bit of fresh air is always good for the soul.
The Manager is very approachable and helpful and does run a very well organised Home - and has some very good ideas for making Penrose Court a high standard of care home - lets hope they all go ahead!!
Thank you for your lovely comments. We are getting ideas to continue to improve the care and environment for all our residents.
My mother's frailty has necessitated an open-ended respite stay, and she is quite an unwilling passenger! Fiercely independent and difficult to please. Without the patience and understanding of the staff, my mother would not have settled in at all well. The facilities are very good, but ultimately, it is the quality of the actual care that matters. The manager is very "hands-on" and leads by example with her willingness to go the extra mile. The caring and professionalism of the staff really shines through. Thank you!
Thank you for your lovely response and we continue to make all our residents feel at home and settled.
What a lovely entrance hall, with a feeling of serenity ad welcome. The hub of the house - only apparent once you are inside - is a meeting place for everyone. Coffee in the morning, with lots of carers and people in wheelchairs - all very happy to see each other and have a chat to your neighbours. I was there for respite care for a week where you are welcomed as part of the larger family. Food is one of the highlights of the day, in a beautiful dining room looking into a small patio garden. The food is good with lots of choices. After lunch, there is a structured programme of optional activities including talks and practical work. I enjoyed my respite care and all the interesting people I met in Penrose Court.
My mother moved into Penrose Court Care Home from Bedford Hospital. She was there until her death on April 6th. During her stay at the home, she received excellent care from all the staff, the excellent nurses and carers who were looking after her. They were nothing less than amazing and I can't thank them enough.
Thank you for your lovely review and we will share it with the team.
I love it here.
Thank you so much for your review. It's always lovely to receive feedback. We will of course share this with the staff as they will be delighted to hear how well they are doing.

I am a registered general nurse with over 11 years of experience working across the UK health and social care sector. I have achieved my NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Health and Social Care (Children and Young People and Adults) and am also a qualified Mental Health First Aider.
I am passionate about providing outstanding care and supporting both residents and staff to thrive. For me, a successful day is one where I leave knowing that I have made a positive difference to the lives of our residents by helping them feel valued, supported, and empowered to live fulfilling lives.
What makes Penrose Court so special is its commitment to treating every resident as an individual. I am proud to work alongside a dedicated team who consistently go the extra mile to enhance both the quality of care we provide and the quality of life of everyone who calls Penrose Court home.

With 14 years of experience in the care home sector, Susan’s passion for providing the highest standard of care to residents has never wavered. They feel privileged to be part of the warm and welcoming environment at Penrose Court and are proud to be a much-valued member of the team.
In February 2026, Susan decided to make a change and join our Activities Coordinators team.

Hi, I am Jay. I am part of the activities team and I run Cut and Glow, our in-house salon here at Penrose Court.
I have been with Penrose since September 2018, just before it opened. I started as part of the care team and then transitioned into my current position. This is not my first time working in a care home as I have previously worked as an activities manager. This is the first salon I have run but I have been cutting hair for 38 years, I know I do not look old enough. I have held a number of jobs over the years, but they have all revolved around people as this has always been a passion. The best part of my job is interacting with the residents.
My passion for activities, particularly arts and crafts continues outside of work as I have my own crafting business. I also love spending time with my family, my favourite afternoons are spent watching Jurassic Park with my grandchildren.

Misty joined our Activities Co-ordinator Team towards the end of 2024. She loves playing games with the residents and making them smile.

Sue started working at Penrose Court in January 2022. She is part of our great housekeeping team and she thoroughly enjoys her duties which can also include activities with the residents. Her favourite part of her day is building friendships with the residents. Sue considers it a privilege and a pleasure to work at Penrose Court.

Jo joined us here at Penrose Court in August 2023. She is a part of our amazing Housekeeping team, helping keep the home clean for our wonderful Residents. Jo is very dedicated to her work and enjoys spending time and bonding with our Residents, always making them smile.
In Jo's spare time, she loves looking after her grandchildren and going camping.

Emily joined Penrose Court at the end of April 2024. She also works alongside the administrator helping with any additional Admin tasks. Emily has really enjoyed getting to know all the residents and forming a friendship with them and their family members.

Paul is the weekend receptionist here at Penrose Court
Paul joined quite recently and has been here since the beginning of February but is often told by colleagues and residents alike that it seems like he’s been here for a lot longer. This is Paul’s first time working in the care environment but is finding it very enjoyable and rewarding.
Paul’s background hails from the Civil Service, where he took early retirement after spending over 30 years at the Department of Transport but wasn’t ready to give up and when this job came up it was a 3-minute commute from my home by foot. Paul is also a Magistrate for Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire since joining the bench in 2008 and the requirements here at Penrose Court allow Paul to continue making a difference to the local community.
Paul’s passion for making a difference to people is fully satisfied in this job by the interaction with the residents and their families.

Frances has been with us at Penrose Court since 2019.
