My mother has come to the home for short term respite to give her time to get over an injury to her leg which requires 24hour care. I can't fault anything about the home, everyone is so helpful and caring as they go about their work.

There are always plenty of activities going on to keep the residents occupied. You are always made to feel welcome when you visit. My mother had her 90th birthday at the home for about 40 visitors and the home provided the buffet, it was lovely and much appreciated.

My dad has been here for 6 months, he is treated with respect.
Staff are kind, thoughtful and show interest in him. He isn't easy but they understand his needs.

I feel it's family and most of the staff I feel love their jobs which comes over. It's a happy place and runs very well. I feel so happy to have found this home and at rest that my dad has the best care.

My mother was very against moving to a care home but we managed to move her for 'respite' back in May 19. She is extremely well looked after and looking so much healthier and happier than she has in the last few years. The staff are so caring, nothing is too much for any of them. The food is of excellent quality, beautifully prepared and varied. There is always a selection of hot, cold, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and snacks permanently available.

Also, there is an excellent schedule of activities, visitors coming in and trips out organised by the energetic entertainments team. All in all moving Mum to Westhill Park Care Home is the best thing we could ever have done for her. Thank you all so much.

The care provided by Westhill Park has been perfect The atmosphere inside the home (hotel, more like!) is very welcoming, bright, lively and friendly. My sister has a spacious ensuite room, the wide corridor leading to her room is colourful with every room having a brightly coloured door which actually looks like a front door. The dining room is set out beautifully with white linen and fresh flowers on the table. The food is varied and delicious. The lounge chairs are arranged in groups for cosy chats and the room can be rearranged quickly for the daily group activities. There is never a dull minute at Westhill Park. The cinema room is splendid with very comfortable winged chairs. There is also a bar area and a library. My sister has been on many outings and entertainers also visit to provide so much stimulation and she appears to be very happy. The staff are very approachable and always have time to discuss any issues or concerns. All in all, I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Having spent a lot of time looking at most of the homes in the area, this one seals the deal hands down. The lady I was researching a home for is a friend and a 21-year-old in her 90s. Westhill Park is a first class, 5 stars, enthusiastic, caring environment and caring staff, where more to them is never enough. I have always been made most welcome when I am there and also encouraged to share not just time but a meal and an abundance of drinks and beverages, along with cakes and biscuits a-plenty. A birthday was being celebrated on the day of arrival for my very dear friend and it was no trouble for a tea party to be laid on by the staff at Westhill Park, with sandwiches, drinks and of course a Westhill Park homemade birthday cake.

The atmosphere in Westhill Park is always an inviting friendly one.....bricks and concrete make a building but caring people make a home... so take a bow Westhill Park, as you are setting the standards for others to follow, if they can!!

Although my Mum has only become a resident recently I can already see a huge improvement in her well being. She is already attempting to walk again, without the fear of falling, her communication has improved and she is smiling again! Nothing is too much trouble for the staff; the owners, management and whole team from Westhill Park have made Mum's move to their home faultless. The home itself is first class with its beautiful interior and its facilities plus the tranquil gardens. As a family we have also been made to feel welcome, providing a perfect place to visit.

Westhill Park is a wonderful care home - well designed and with superb facilities but most importantly, every member of the team has the right approach - professional but with the essential ingredients of genuine warmth, empathy, kindness, happiness and care. It has a homely feel to it making it a pleasure to visit. They provide activities and outings carefully selected to appeal to residents. Dad says how excellent the food is and having dined with him a couple of times I can see just what he means. The housekeeping staff do a fabulous job, everywhere is immaculate and Dad always looks his best in his freshly laundered and pressed clothes. Dad always tells me how superb the carers are with him and I can see this from their interactions with him and other residents. As a daughter, it’s hard to entrust the care of your parent to others, but I have complete confidence in the way that the whole team works together to provide excellent and individually tailored care for my dad.

My mother has always been against using a care home but was bullied into viewing Westhill. After agreeing to give it a try for a week she was completely won over. The staff are all very helpful and efficient, meals excellent and accommodation very good. In my mother's words, 'she cannot fault it' and there is no way she would prefer to return to her home.

I am happy to report that my father’s 4-week respite ‘holiday’ at Westhill Park Care Home has exceeded all our expectations. Our family has no previous first-hand experience of care homes and we were very apprehensive about how Dad, who has Alzheimer’s, would manage. The home is brand new and the facilities are first class (including a cinema, bar, library). A full program of activities and outings are available, although Dad only participated in a few of these. The staff are all very welcoming, attentive and professional. The food is excellent and friends and relatives are always invited to dine with the residents when they visit - we took them up on this offer on 2 occasions including Sunday lunch.

If Dad needs further respite care or a permanent place, we would be confident that he will be safe and well cared for at Westhill Park.

It looks like I've answered all questions the same for convenience but that is for the truth. The welcome we all get when we first came to look round the home and the detail to the care my mother in law needs were second to none. The home is beautiful and the staff are both very professional and extremely friendly. Just what she needs. She will benefit greatly from her new surroundings and I would be very happy for anyone I know to stay at Westhill Park. I would be cynical and say its bound to be good as it is new, but I believe it will remain the same for years to come. Thank you for all your care and consideration.

Sharmaine Hall
Sharmaine HallJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2021

In December 2009, I started a job as a support worker in a care home with no idea whether I would suit the role, I then became a senior support worker, then a team leader, a deputy manager, a project manager and then home manager, I think it's fair to say that I suited the role.

Sadly, there is a perception of care that is quite dated and conjures up images of dingy lounges and rice pudding. From day one I wanted to prove that good care homes can be fabulous places to live, that they were not institutions but homes with beautiful facilities and opportunities to really live, not just exist.

When I am making decisions about hiring, menus, activities, decor, I always imagine my family and think about what I would want for them. The people we care for are individuals with rich histories and I want them to remain so, nobody has to fit in here. We provide a service to meet individual needs and that is as it should be.

My favourite part of the job is working with my team; knowing that we are making a difference, I like to lead by example. I work hard to ensure that we are providing a high standard of care and that the home is a happy place.

Every day I work with families and other professionals to ensure our residents get the best service. I am caring and passionate about what I do.

Westhill Park is a fantastic home with hardworking and caring staff. The residents that live with us are amazing and have such individual characters and amazing stories to share. The staff take pleasure in getting to know them and their families, listening to their life histories enables them to form a bond and gain their trust.

One day I'd like to be a director of care, I won't be satisfied until I know that I have provided 5 star care to as many people as possible.

Working in social care is not a job, it's a vocation and I feel truly blessed to have found mine.

Hi, my name is Stephen and I am the Housekeeping Manager here at Westhill Park.

Firstly, I'm going to tell you about myself. I was born and raised in Stoke on Trent, I have lived up North and down South and I am currently living in Kettering. As soon as I left school I went straight into employment I have had various job roles but I found that I am best suited in the hospitality industry. I worked to achieve my NVQ Level 2 in hospitality during my working career.

I was employed as a Housekeeper once I started at Westhill Park but soon progressed into my role as Housekeeping Manager soon after.

The best part of my job is managing my team, working alongside the management to care for the residents who live here at Westhill Park.

Katie Partridge
Katie PartridgeJob Title:Head ChefJoined: 2023

I came to Westhill Park two years ago as a Kitchen Assistant. During the first 6 months, I was promoted to Deputy Chef where I assisted the Head Chef in the daily running of the kitchen and trained the Kitchen Assistants in maintaining high standards of the kitchen and producing hearty, homely food for our loved ones.

Every now and then, I also cover care, which gives me a great opportunity to interact with our residents. I have familiarised myself with residents' likes and dislikes of food, which has led to a better understanding of how to support their nutritional needs.

In my two years at Westhill Park, I've maintained the 5-star rating with E.H.O. and have entered competitions, which have been an amazing experience for me. Earlier this year, I entered Anchor's internal Chef of the Year competition, where I was in the semi-finals. The judges' feedback was positive, and they were impressed with the food I had produced. I was invited to the final of the Chef of the Year and was proud to assist the other Chefs and experience the event, which was wonderful. I'll enter again this year for sure. I'm also very proud to be a finalist in the regional Great British Care Awards in the Care Home Cook/ Chef award.

I wouldn't be where I am today without the amazing support of my team and the managers at Westhill Park.

Hi, my name is Connor, and I am 26 years old

I was born in Haywards Heath. I decided to move up to Kettering spontaneously, and the first job I got was working as a housekeeper/ Kitchen assistant. Since then, I progressed into care, and I’ve taken a new role at Westhill Park as the Care Home’s Handy Person.

My role is to make sure the home remains a safe haven for our residents and staff, and for the home to feel as welcoming as possible. What I enjoy the most is being hands-on and actively present in the day-to-day running of the home. I enjoy helping the residents by repairing items, sorting furniture and painting to make it homely. I want to make sure that everyone is living in a person-centred environment that is as much of a home-from-home as possible.
