Newton House Care Home is outstanding. Not only basic care but the extra activities offered to residents. As a family, we feel the care and needs of the residents are bespoke to each individual and there is a huge focus on person-centred care. There are several sitting areas and gardens to sit in with
other residents and family when visiting. All the staff are professional, friendly and extremely caring. We could not be happier with the care here for my husband.

Cannot fault the staff for the care they give my mum, she has a great relationship with them and they look after her very well. Her reaction when she sees them shows this. The staff member of reception always goes out of her way to make her laugh. Such a credit to Newton House. The trips are also a
huge favourite of my mum's and seeing her enjoy the with the driver is lovely.

My overall experience has been good, however, the food is very bland, unseasoned and for me tasteless. Also, I like a particular cereal or granola, they can offer neither, curries don't even taste like curry.
Reply from Lara Masucci, Home Manager at Newton House Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We're glad to hear that your overall experience has been good, but we're sorry to learn that the food did not meet your expectations. We appreciate your input about the seasonings and flavours, as we are always striving to enhance our menu to better serve our guests. Regarding your preference for specific cereals or granola, we understand how important it is to have choices that suit your taste and I am glad we have now been able to accommodate your desires. We have been grateful for the opportunity to learn more about your preferences. Please feel free to reach out directly to any of the team in the home at any time. My husband has been in Newton House Care Home for just a few weeks now. In that time, I have found myself relaxing, secure in the knowledge that the care he is being given is of the highest standard. He is safe and being well looked after. I have every faith in the management team, who appear to me
to be doing an excellent job of running a caring, compassionate and professional team of staff in a very busy environment.

I am extremely satisfied with the level of care provided at Newton House with a few small areas of feedback. Stimulation of residents could be more proactive. All staff should display name badges at all times. The visibility of staff at weekends requires review. Activity programme to be better communicated
in advance. Involvement of family in activities should be considered in a more planned way.

My husband has been in this care home for almost three years, though it has had challenges the staff have worked very hard to ensure that residents have had the best care they could give. My husband is very settled there and both of us are treated with respect and dignity by all staff. They are very
aware of his needs and cope with his dementia very well.

Our elderly aunt has resided at Newton House for over two years. We have found this care home to be a fantastic place for her. The staff are very friendly and caring. There are lots of things organised for the residents too, both within the home and outings in the mini bus. Staff are all very approachable
re any minor issues that may arise. The building itself is modern with great facilities including a cinema, café, hairdressing room and gardens.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.714)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.714) out of 10 for Newton House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 31 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.714 for Newton House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (302 Excellents x 5) + (35 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) + (9 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 364 Ratings = 4.714
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Newton House Care Home is based on 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 113 registered maximum number of service users is 22.6, which has been reached with 28 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
