As a Welfare carer, I required emergency respite care for a client I was caring for. I contacted several care homes and the response, caring nature and helpful attitude was the decision maker.
From the moment of admission, the care was outstanding the staff caring and kind, and a level of helpfulness I actually forget existed.

I am a registered nurse and have very high standards when placing clients, I am delighted with not only the care but the progress made by the client.

Food superb and communication and feedback excellent. All staff were wonderful, I dealt with the manager, could not have been more helpful, and a senior carer who was outstanding in every way.
The staff are very well trained and I observed all patients being treated kindly and with dignity.
The home was spotlessly clean and the day rooms beautiful with a sea/river view.

In terms of value for money it was outstanding.

All who visited commented on what a lovely care home it was.

Our mum moved into Lighthouse Lodge in early August 2021, initially on a trial, then becoming permanent.
The purpose-built building is modern and bright. Mum’s room is comfortable with an en-suite bathroom and a wonderful view. The dining room is friendly with ample food and choice. The lounges are inviting and comfortable.
But what really makes Lighthouse Lodge such a special place is its staff. From the first moment, we were blown away by the friendliness and the quality of care shown to mum by every member of staff. She was immediately made so welcome and at home.
We also feel very welcome and can visit any time, even bringing dogs! Mum celebrated her 92nd birthday recently. We organised a buffet in the lovely lounge to celebrate together - with sherry, of course! The staff could not do enough for us.
Mum loves conversation; meal-times are special as she chats with residents and staff

We feel so happy and reassured that mum is settled, comfortable, safe, and well-cared for.

Our 86 year old mum was not in the best of health after a short stay in hospital. The care and attention and friendliness of the Lighthouse Lodge staff - especially the third floor (Perch Rock) was second to none in helping our mum regain a level of health and independence. A heartfelt thanks to all.

This was a very difficult decision for me to make. From the very first visit, I was impressed and reassured by the professional and caring attitude of the staff here. My mother's health is declining and the staff have been responsive to her needs and displayed great kindness. I am now reassured that she is receiving the best of care, for that I am grateful.

Also to mention that this place is scrupulously clean and the food excellent.

My mother has advanced Alzheimer's Disease and has been at Lighthouse Lodge since November, 2020. I live in the United States, so I have never visited the facility. As a result of an emergency, I was able to place my mother, with help from close family, from the other side of the world because the staff were wonderful and receptive to the circumstances. The care she receives is outstanding. Everyone is friendly and loving and I always get the sense of genuine caring for the residents. Although I'm so far away, there is a system where I can have a video call with my mother every week. She is unable to use a phone, but she can see me on her television in her room. It works really well! Photos of fun activities are displayed on Facebook. The facility is beautiful and the food looks delicious. The most important thing is that my mother is happy there and I have the peace of mind knowing that she is so well cared for. I highly recommend Lighthouse Lodge!

Reply from Jo Cookson, Manager at Lighthouse Lodge

Making the decision to put my husband into full-time care was a very difficult one. The management was fantastic. She was empathic, supportive and very informative. I could not have asked for more. My husband has thrived since being at the Lighthouse Lodge, and it was the right decision for him to become a permanent resident.

Thank you to the manager and her staff.

My aunt has been living at Lighthouse Lodge for just over two years now, the care she has received during this period has been wonderful. All staff have been so kind and caring. When we were able, I used to love to visit, not only my aunt, but also enjoy the other residents and staff also. Let's hope we can get back to normal again soon. During this lockdown period the staff have kept me informed regarding my aunt's welfare! I can't thank them enough!

This is a quality home in terms of care and support for residents and their families. I have remained a weekly visitor since my aunt was admitted. The only alterations to that schedule were during the time of lockdown restrictions. I have maximised the visit arrangements made during that time. Screen visits are highly organised. Booking by telephone is easy. I have been able to build up a rapport with the house and front-of-house staff. My single concern is to ensure that as a blood relative of my aunt, my name is firmly secure as a contactable relative if needed. This was a firm request. This had not been attended to in the early stages. I am not an LPA because that position has been allocated to a non-family member, related only to the pre-deceased husband of my aunt. I am hoping that the request has been rectified. It is always a joy to visit Lighthouse Lodge.

My sister has dementia but, at 61, is really young. When it became impossible for her to continue to live alone the family searched for somewhere that would not only cater for her individual needs but also keep her stimulated. Even although covid restrictions have prevented us from normal relaxed visits we can see from past social media posts that families are usually welcomed and encouraged to integrate with the Lighthouse family and attend the many fun days they have. My sister is thriving at Lighthouse, the staff are wonderful and professional and the brilliant program of activities keeps residents stimulated. It’s lovely to see daily posts and photos on FaceBook.

My father in law has been a resident at Lighthouse Lodge for about 18 months now. He is 99 years old and from day one, I was impressed with the all round professionalism of the staff and management, especially the registered manager. The care staff show such respect for the residents and families keeping the resident's dignity intact with a heartfelt empathy for them. Nothing is too much trouble and their one to one skills are superb! They keep residents spirits up at all times, which for everyone this year must not have been easy with very little contact with the family. I would thoroughly recommend Lighthouse Lodge to anyone considering finding somewhere for their loved ones in their autumn years.

Lighthouse Lodge is a very well presented purpose-built facility. Mum has been in both nursing and residential care. On-site facilities and activities are regular and varied. The one failing, in my opinion, is the standard of some of the staff. Some are excellent, especially the activity workers but unfortunately, some of the care staff are well below what is expected. Maybe with a recent change of manager, this will change.

My Mum has been at Lighthouse Lodge for a year now and we are all delighted with the care she has received. The facility is beautiful and the staff are so caring. Mum struggled for two years with in-home care due to dementia and other mental health issues and in the end, there was no alternative but to move her to full-time care. I certainly wish we had been able to take Mum to Lighthouse Lodge earlier, her mental health has stabilised, she is so much healthier and happier now. As my brother and I live overseas it is difficult to stay in touch but staff regularly post pictures and video updates of all the activities they have every day - looks like everyone is having fun and is happy. The staff also initiate face time calls with Mum and I, which is really lovely.

Thanks so much to all of the Team for taking care of Mum, we know it can’t be easy especially in these challenging times.

My mum went into Lighthouse Lodge in early June as she was struggling at home. She settled in very quickly. The staff were brilliant with her and looked after her very well. There were various activities available each day that she joined in with and it was very helpful to my Dad to be able to talk to her regularly on FaceTime and to see the pictures of her on Facebook.

I would not hesitate to recommend Lighthouse Lodge to any family considering care for their loved ones.
