I can not be more grateful for the care and compassion all of the staff that my mother and myself have been involved with have shown throughout. The staff have been so thoughtful and caring towards my mother (and myself). A very considerate and caring team.

My mum became a permanent resident of Lighthouse Lodge last October. From the very first day the staff were kind and caring and all of them made every effort to help her settle in quickly.

On June 7th Mum reached 100 years of age and despite the constraints of the Covid-19 lockdown the staff made the day a very memorable one: A ‘royal’ procession’ down her corridor, with fellow residents forming a guard of honour, to the brightly decorated lounge full of balloons and banners. Lovely food including an amazing birthday cake plus a spot of alcohol! The staff spent time making sure she could Facetime her grand and great grand children and patiently read out her birthday cards to her. They also made us comfortable outside the window of the Foyer so that we could spend a couple of hours celebrating the memorable day with her. We believe the day ended with Karaoke in the Lounge! What outstanding carers Lighthouse lodge have. You could do no better!

Thanks for your kind words Chris and family, times have not been easy, but as the pictures and videos proved, a wonderful time on her birthday was had. Not only by herself but all of the residents and staff lucky enough to be here at Lighthouse Lodge.

My dad suffered a second stroke on 28th February 2020 and on 27 March 2020 he was moved to Lighthouse Lodge from the Acute Stroke Unit at hospital at quite short notice (less than 24 hours). Because of the lockdown, neither I nor my sister was able to visit beforehand. We did have the opportunity of reading the very good reviews and, because there was no alternative, had to keep our fingers firmly crossed.

As it has turned out Dad`s move to Lighthouse Lodge (the day before my birthday) has been the best "birthday present" that I have ever enjoyed. The staff have looked after him brilliantly and he is clearly enjoying every day with them. In a conversation with him earlier this week he described one of his carers as "a lovely young lady" and that is clearly what she is. I am looking forward to a visit, once permitted, but for the moment have to give the Lodge ten out of ten for their efforts and their kindness to Dad to date.

Dad moved from another care home to Lighthouse Lodge in February 2020. We are so glad that we made this choice of care home. The love, care, respect and dignity that the staff show to the residents is second to none. Dad has a new spring in his step, is more alert and is so much happier as everyone at Lighthouse Lodge take time out to stop and have a chat and brighten up his day.
Activities geared to individual interests, regular entertainment (before lockdown), dancing, singing, WhatsApp video calls to family plus so much more keeps the residents spirits up, especially at this difficult time.
Families are kept up to date, and there is always someone available to answer any queries.

Our family cannot thank this amazing team enough for keeping our dad and the other residents safe and well whilst we have been unable to visit.

As a family, we were so stressed about my mother having Alzheimer’s and needing 24-hour care. We’d looked around other establishments and they were not a patch on Lighthouse Lodge.
After walking in we recognised the place is immaculate. The first member of staff we met put us at ease, which can’t have been easy.
The staff are so kind and caring. They are highly skilled and genuine. There is a lovely relaxed atmosphere in Lighthouse Lodge, and the routine is flexible according to each resident's needs. The staff know the residents really well which is lovely.
After a few days, some of Mum’s friends visited, they said she looked like her old self again. They were so pleased and they said I looked younger because I was less stressed.
The building is very pleasant, with marvellous and interesting views. The activity coordinators are wonderful, with interesting and exciting activities planned every day of the week.

I highly recommend Lighthouse Lodge.

We looked at a few places before deciding on the Lighthouse Lodge for my eighty-five-year-old dad.
He was admitted at short notice, and the manager was very accommodating and made it a smooth transition. The place itself is lovely, very clean, with bright airy lounges and large bedrooms, but it is the staff that make the place special. They have all made an effort to get to know my dad as a person and go out of their way to respect his wishes and ensure he is happy and looked after.
Residents are encouraged to bring their own possessions and make their rooms feel like home. The staff are relaxed and always welcoming. We visit every day, and you really feel part of a community. The Lighthouse Lodge provides many activities for its residents, music, crafts, visits from schools, fetes, quizzes, trips to the pub, which has helped my dad get to know other residents.

If you are considering this place, check out their page.

Even though I live in East Midlands and don't visit often, I deal with the POA side: fees, clothes, toiletries, mountains of paperwork; I do still contribute to the long-distance care of my Mum. So recently compiled a memories pack for staff, with reminiscence materials and photos etc. Upon learning of my Mum's strong religious faith the Deputy Manager said Mum will now receive weekly in house prayers and blessings. What a lovely touch. I have spoken to just about everyone or emailed them: deputy manager, lodge relations manager, wonderful reception, admin, nursing staff, care staff etc - at Lighthouse Lodge and head office and they have been uniformly excellent: helpful, warm, courteous, very able to sort out complicated administration issues, which I am constantly dealing with. It's touches like this that distinguish an excellent care home and I truly believe this is one. Special thanks to the Lodge Relations Manager of Lighthouse Lodge for all your wonderful help.

The staff at Lighthouse Lodge are wonderful. They have gone above and beyond for my nan and it is really clear that they care for their residents and take the time to get to know them. There are plenty of activities happening each week and with the modern decor, you would never know you are in a care home. In spite of her dementia, my nan has made some friends and is fairly settled at Lighthouse Lodge. The staff go out of their way to make sure my Nan is happy and entertained and I can now sleep more easily knowing she is safe and in company.

It was a very difficult decision for my mum to move into residential accommodation and we looked at many places before settling on Lighthouse Lodge. The extensive activities programme, which includes trips out, was a key factor in our decision-making process as Mum enjoys socialising. It has definitely lived up to our expectations. Mum has settled in well, has made friends and enjoys her fully occupied days. She especially enjoys the trips to the local theatre, pub and cafes and the visits from the local nursery school. The staff seem to genuinely care for the residents, they always make the rest of the family welcome and they don't hesitate to call us if necessary.

My uncle has been a resident for only a few weeks now but has settled in well and seems happy. The home is modern and attractively furnished with spacious en-suite bedrooms and wide corridors. The food appears to be tempting and of high quality. He is sadly unable to appreciate most of these benefits due to loss of faculties, but it is good to know he is well cared for in such a lovely home.

Since moving to Lighthouse Lodge my father's general well being and health have improved immensely. He is in a stimulating environment, with excellent care. As a consequence of the very good food, my father has put the weight back on that he had lost whilst in hospital and at an unsatisfactory care home in Liverpool. Within his first week, my father had his very first Art Lesson with one of the very friendly and capable Activity Coordinators. In addition to the Art lessons, my father enjoys the outings, movie/music afternoons, and the gardening club. He has even been spotted joining in with the exercise groups. He regards all his carers as family and best friends. His dementia had isolated him, but since arriving at Lighthouse Lodge he has made friends and this is a big thing for him, he shares his jelly babies and chocolate with them. My mother is so happy with how his life has changed for the better, and this week is moving into a room on the top floor to be close to him again.

We can't recommend Lighthouse Lodge highly enough. Mum has been a resident since February and her quality of life has improved so much. Mum is happy and contented, her room is lovely, the staff are so caring and nothing is too much trouble, meals are delicious and plentiful. There is always something going on, singers, artists, knitting, gardening to name but a few. Lighthouse Lodge has a wonderful family feel and we are so happy we found it and made the decision to move Mum from her old care home.

Thank you so much for your lovely review, when I opened Lighthouse Lodge my aim was to create a family feel where everyone was welcomed and included, I wanted the decision to move to Lighthouse Lodge to feel like a new beginning, a brand new chapter in people's lives and it is lovely to think that a year down the line that we are achieving this. I cannot rate this home highly enough. I am extremely pleased with the care my father has been given since arriving 5 weeks ago. Dad is 90, has dementia and a number of other ailments and is very confused but the staff have been very patient and caring. Liaison, before he arrived, was brilliant and helped to make the move from 200 miles away very straightforward. The home is very modern, spacious and clean. The food is clearly tasty and plentiful as Dad has regained some of the weight lost due to illness and hospital stays. The layout is lovely with plenty of communal areas so there is always a nice place to sit with Dad. Visitors are made welcome and are encouraged to make and share tea/coffee with residents. Access to medical services is made easy by weekly doctor visits and the staff are receptive to ideas to improve the residents health and well being. I finally feel I can relax after months of worry now that Dad is being so well cared for at Lighthouse Lodge.
