My mother spent a week at the Manor House, Cornwall Road, Harrogate to recover from an operation.
The Manor House has the appearance of entering a five star hotel. Everywhere is immaculate, with the extra touches that make this care home outstanding.
The care and kindness she received from every
member of staff, 24 hours a day, was very reassuring for us. My mother was very impressed by the excellent standard of very tasty food, offered on the varied menu.
I visited several times during her stay, joining her in the residents coffee area for tea and lovely cakes that were always offered to us. As we sat chatting it was obvious by looking around that residents coming along for coffee were all greeted and known by name by all the staff.
There are varied activities throughout the week, along with a bar and hairdressers.
I would have no hesitation in recommending The Manor, and my mother would definitely return if she needed some care in the future.

Mum has only been at The Manor for a few weeks but has been consistently treated with respect, dignity and a great deal of care. Whilst the standards of the refurbishment of the whole unit cannot be faulted, it is not this that we are most pleased with. It is the genuine, loving attitude of the staff,
the positive atmosphere they have created and the variety of activities available. We wanted mum to move from her home to a "home" she could call her own. So far so good.

Making the decision to move mum (93, with worsening vascular dementia) into a care environment wasn't an easy decision - but our experience with The Manor House (mum was the second resident to move in when the home opened) has been nothing but positive. The gorgeous and well-thought-out accommodation
is matched by the exceptional standard of care - nothing is too much trouble and the friendliness, warmth and professionalism of everyone we've encountered have been an absolute joy. This is a "home" in the true sense of the word and mum is part of their family. I really must mention the food - fine dining at its very best - together with coffee and cake always available. As a new home, the activities available are understandably still developing, but I know mum has very much enjoyed everything she's been involved in so far. We're delighted and confident that our choice of home was the right one.

I have been a care home manager for ten years and have a Master’s Degree in Public Health. I have been the manager of The Manor House since 2017 - before it was built - and have overseen every step of the process to where we are now.


Each team member has been carefully selected based on their individual strengths and qualities, to ensure our residents receive the best level of care. I am proud to lead my enthusiastic, compassionate and diverse team of staff in delivering the highest standards in one of England's most luxurious care homes.

I have worked in various kitchens over a 22 year span and have learned many things along the way regarding how different kitchens work.


I love cooking and seeing people enjoying the food I have prepared for them, whether it be in a restaurant, a hotel, doing banquets and weddings, or for residents in a care home - where I currently work with Anchor.


My main focus is to ensure that all the food I prepare is done so with care, love and attention, ensuring my guests receive the best possible experience. I really enjoy face to face interactions with my guests and residents, as I feel it is important to get feedback on what I do and to build a rapport with the clientele.


I believe you have to be adaptable in your approach when it comes to food as everyone has different pallets. A care home environment is a wonderful place to be in as I am effectively coming into other people’s home and doing what I love both in and out of work.
