My mum has dementia and had lived alone, away from family support, after her husband died. As a family, we had a very difficult time after we moved mum near to us and underestimated how much support she needed. So, after a month I took mum to The Manor House for a visit. She moved in a couple of days later. It is a hard transition from your own home to residential care however she has settled in and has been there for 5 months. It is more than a care home and everyone works hard to provide all-round care for the residents. That includes physical and social care. It is a place I like to visit. As a working mum, I don't have a lot of time or energy but I enjoy the time I spend at the Manor House seeing mum and taking her out for walks. There is always a coffee to be had! Communication is important and I raise any worries I have about mum and her care. These are always dealt with in a positive way.

I have found The Manor House care home to be first class in every respect. The design and layout has been carefully planned to provide a relaxing environment which makes you feel completely at home. However, the most important thing is the staff who are exemplary.

My father was a resident at the Manor for a week in March, on a respite basis. He found the staff very kind and helpful and he thought the food was very good. My own experience, as a family member, was that the staff were unfailingly courteous, friendly and caring towards my father, and to other residents. They all knew the names of the residents and, in the interactions I observed, were familiar and friendly, without being intrusive.
My father’s room was spotless and the whole of the Manor was luxurious and beautifully maintained.
The activities’ manager was enthusiastic and engaging: my father enjoyed the events held.

I had been rather anxious about how my father would respond to the Manor, as he wasn’t too keen to try living away from his home. However, the transition was made much easier and smoother by the professional attitude of the senior staff and carers, who had all informed themselves of his details prior to admission and got to know him in a short time.

Mum has been at The Manor since it opened at the end of 2018, my sisters and I have seen a big improvement in her mobility.S he doesn't have a big appetite but is eating and drinking more than when she was at home. She now has company when she wants to interact with the other residents and staff. The staff look after her very well, and her multiple medications are given on time which she needs to be taken at specific times due to her complex needs. She enjoys the social activities when she feels up to attending. We think she is starting to think of The Manor as home which is a comfort to my sisters and me.

I would just like to say a big thank you to the home and caring staff for looking after my Mum after she came out of hospital following a fall. She improved very rapidly as a result of the professional attention she received.
We, her daughters, were also listened to and supported in a very stressful situation.

Manor House is an amazing place, much more like a hotel than a Care Home, the rooms are vast and beautiful and the food special. This luxury won't suit everyone, but if you are in need of care and want to be spoiled then this could well be the place for you.

As a former medical social worker, I was much involved in helping families assess the suitability of possible care homes for relatives. I have never discovered such a suitable care home as The Manor House. The quality of care is quite exceptional. Lovely spacious rooms, most attractive furnishings, that make both myself and my visitors feel that I am more or less back at home. I enjoy the meals, the grounds are a pleasure to walk around, the flower beds, having been very attractively planted. Which as a keen gardener is very important to me.

The Carers are all exceptionally kind and very considerate. Lots of activities are provided. I have enjoyed the yoga classes and the knitting and natter get together. I feel l have made new friends since my admission. My family are delighted with how much better I am looking. I am so pleased that I have some of my personal possessions in my large sunny room.

Having been discharged from hospital, when I returned home (despite what I was told by hospital staff) I realised that I couldn't manage alone.
My family brought me to Harrogate (where most of them live) and then found Manor House. I have a temporary back injury which necessitates the use of crutches and medication. I am otherwise fit and healthy. (I have never been in a hospital and am 66 years of age.)

Since I moved into Manor House I can only describe the experience as an absolutely first class from every aspect. The surroundings are beautiful and relaxing but in addition to that, the care, attention and understanding given by the staff are in my opinion, second to none. Compared to most, my needs are fortunately few, but those have been addressed in a timely, caring and extremely professional manner. If and when issues arise (be they large or small) there is always a listening and understanding ear and a quick resolution.

My sincere thanks to everyone concerned.

Upon our first visit, we instinctively knew it was perfect. The Manor House offers excellent care in a beautiful, calm, happy and caring environment. All staff are extremely dedicated, kind and highly professional. As residents settle you can see friendships evolving and a strong feeling of 'family' growing. This has helped our mother with the smooth transition from home to 'care home'. Staff are always on hand for a chat offering reassurance, love and laughter. Diverse daily activities provide stimulation and nurture interests. On a practical level staff deal with all medical needs with compassion, respect and privacy and available to escort residents to a clinic, dental, medical appointments if needed.

The food is superb and the chefs offer an extremely varied and nutritious menu. Weekly visits from the local doctor, beautician, hairdresser promote independent living. We always feel very welcome and more to the point we enjoy visiting. I highly recommend The Manor House.

Mum moved into the Harrogate Manor very soon after it opened and it proved to be a lovely introduction to the world of care homes (being her first). It is very clean, spacious, and grand, and Mum was relieved to be warm, well-fed and well looked after. Despite the huge change from living in her own home on her own in rural Wales to a care home in Harrogate, Mum settled in very quickly.
The team at Harrogate Manor are very professional, really warm and very caring. They worked extremely hard to get to know Mum quickly and work out her needs, likes and dislikes. They linked her up with likely new friends to help her settle which worked really well. I was amazed at how quickly Mum settled in.
The team also kept me well informed as to what was going on, and whenever my family and I visited, we were always made to feel very welcome. The only reason Mum has moved is to bring her closer to us (7 rather than 37 minutes away).

Thanks all. Thoroughly recommended.

My mother spent a week at the Manor House, Cornwall Road, Harrogate to recover from an operation.
The Manor House has the appearance of entering a five star hotel. Everywhere is immaculate, with the extra touches that make this care home outstanding.
The care and kindness she received from every member of staff, 24 hours a day, was very reassuring for us. My mother was very impressed by the excellent standard of very tasty food, offered on the varied menu.
I visited several times during her stay, joining her in the residents coffee area for tea and lovely cakes that were always offered to us. As we sat chatting it was obvious by looking around that residents coming along for coffee were all greeted and known by name by all the staff.
There are varied activities throughout the week, along with a bar and hairdressers.

I would have no hesitation in recommending The Manor, and my mother would definitely return if she needed some care in the future.

Mum has only been at The Manor for a few weeks but has been consistently treated with respect, dignity and a great deal of care. Whilst the standards of the refurbishment of the whole unit cannot be faulted, it is not this that we are most pleased with. It is the genuine, loving attitude of the staff, the positive atmosphere they have created and the variety of activities available. We wanted mum to move from her home to a "home" she could call her own. So far so good.

Making the decision to move mum (93, with worsening vascular dementia) into a care environment wasn't an easy decision - but our experience with The Manor House (mum was the second resident to move in when the home opened) has been nothing but positive. The gorgeous and well-thought-out accommodation is matched by the exceptional standard of care - nothing is too much trouble and the friendliness, warmth and professionalism of everyone we've encountered have been an absolute joy. This is a "home" in the true sense of the word and mum is part of their family. I really must mention the food - fine dining at its very best - together with coffee and cake always available. As a new home, the activities available are understandably still developing, but I know mum has very much enjoyed everything she's been involved in so far. We're delighted and confident that our choice of home was the right one.

I have been a care home manager for ten years and have a Master’s Degree in Public Health. I have been the manager of The Manor House since 2017 - before it was built - and have overseen every step of the process to where we are now.

Each team member has been carefully selected based on their individual strengths and qualities, to ensure our residents receive the best level of care. I am proud to lead my enthusiastic, compassionate and diverse team of staff in delivering the highest standards in one of England's most luxurious care homes.

I have worked in the care industry since the age of 19. I was not aware at the time that I had found my vocation.

Throughout my 20 years of experience, I have evolved through various roles in a care setting from a care assistant to a deputy manager. I have been part of the team at The Manor House since we opened the doors in 2018 and I am thoroughly proud of being part of the foundations of this highly regarded care home and contributing to the quality standards we have set.

It is a joy to support individuals and their families in their transition to The Manor House and strive to ensure the experience is as smooth and positive as possible.

It's incredibly rewarding to support others and help them feel valued and important. Through the years, I've had the privilege of working in various social care settings supporting people with moderate to complex needs.

At The Manor House, we care for individuals who are loved, and with unique stories and experiences. My goal is to ensure they continue living their lives to the fullest with the support they deserve. I have worked in various kitchens over a 22 year span and have learned many things along the way regarding how different kitchens work.

I love cooking and seeing people enjoying the food I have prepared for them, whether it be in a restaurant, a hotel, doing banquets and weddings, or for residents in a care home - where I currently work with Anchor.

My main focus is to ensure that all the food I prepare is done so with care, love and attention, ensuring my guests receive the best possible experience. I really enjoy face to face interactions with my guests and residents, as I feel it is important to get feedback on what I do and to build a rapport with the clientele.

I believe you have to be adaptable in your approach when it comes to food as everyone has different pallets. A care home environment is a wonderful place to be in as I am effectively coming into other people’s home and doing what I love both in and out of work.
