The Manor House provides a wonderful caring home for all its residents. It encourages a degree of independence whilst supporting the individual. We used the home for a 96-year-old lady to recuperate from a hip operation and she has now been able to return home. Our only criticisms are more concerned
with personal taste than any fault of the home. Evening meals are a little early and heavy for some tastes. The home has coped well during the Coronavirus pandemic making every effort to keep relatives informed and residents safe. It has been a difficult time and they did their utmost to keep morale up when it became difficult to keep all the usual activities and visits going. All the carers and staff are immensely kind and do their utmost to ensure that every resident is happy and cared for whilst maintaining their dignity and individuality. The home is beautifully appointed and with its long corridors a wonderful place to take indoor exercise.

My father was admitted in the middle of May, from the very moment he went in, to the day he left, all the staff were amazing! Even during this pandemic, the staff were professional and personal to my dad's requirements!

I came into The Manor House for convalescence after major surgery. The care and support is excellent. The facilities, ambience and decor first-class. My husband, who has heart problems and dementia is here with me, and his care and support has been excellent. Rooms are first-class, food excellent, good
quality and lots of choice but all tasty. The staffs care for residents is excellent, friendly and considerate to every resident, efficient care at it's best.

We were looking to place our elderly Mother in a care home that could provide her with a high degree of independence and stimulation whilst ensuring she was safe and cared for. The facilities at the Manor House are first class and provide a very comfortable, clean environment that is hotel-like in nature.
The staff are professional and engage with residents on a personal level, encouraging them to interact with each other and make friendships. We are made to feel very welcome and are brought up to date with issues and news that indicates a good level of understanding and interest in our Mother's welfare. Residents and family's views are encouraged and listened to and changes for the better are implemented where possible. We look forward to our visits to the Manor House and the ability to meet our Mother over a cup of coffee and a piece of cake in the light and airy coffee lounge is a real bonus. We are delighted with the care our Mother is receiving and feel we made a good choice.

My father has been at the Manor House since it opened in December 2018 and I and my brothers have been extremely happy with the facilities and level of care provided. The staff are friendly and caring and treat residents with respect. I have eaten in the restaurant in the Chesters wing and it has been
lovely to eat with my Dad in smart surroundings with good food without the stress that eating out involves these days. My dad is quite content there and enjoys any musical events arranged. So relieved to have found this place and grateful to all the lovely staff.

My partner and I stayed at The Manor House, Harrogate for three weeks' respite care. After both having had surgery we would have been unable to cope at home. Apart from a lack of coordination in housekeeping, resulting in bathrooms, bins and tumblers not being dealt with daily (a tick list would help)
we were extremely impressed. The care we received was first class, personal and discreet. The staff, without exception, could not do enough to ensure our comfort and safety. We would undoubtedly come again.

The home and staff were perfect from the moment I “walked” through the door. The decor is homely and the staff welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. The management were particularly supportive when the “system” became challenging, reassuring when feeling isolated.

At the beginning of April, my stepdaughter visited me and said I've found just the place for your breaks. It is a care home in Harrogate it does residential and respite care and looks as though it keeps a very high standard. The look is not just for show it does.
My only regret is that due to other
commitments I cannot stay any longer. I hope to be back in the autumn. My one complaint is the lack of toilet brush in the bathroom plus one for my toothbrush.

My mum has dementia and had lived alone, away from family support, after her husband died. As a family, we had a very difficult time after we moved mum near to us and underestimated how much support she needed. So, after a month I took mum to The Manor House for a visit. She moved in a couple of days
later. It is a hard transition from your own home to residential care however she has settled in and has been there for 5 months. It is more than a care home and everyone works hard to provide all-round care for the residents. That includes physical and social care. It is a place I like to visit. As a working mum, I don't have a lot of time or energy but I enjoy the time I spend at the Manor House seeing mum and taking her out for walks. There is always a coffee to be had! Communication is important and I raise any worries I have about mum and her care. These are always dealt with in a positive way.

I have found The Manor House care home to be first class in every respect. The design and layout has been carefully planned to provide a relaxing environment which makes you feel completely at home. However, the most important thing is the staff who are exemplary.

My father was a resident at the Manor for a week in March, on a respite basis. He found the staff very kind and helpful and he thought the food was very good. My own experience, as a family member, was that the staff were unfailingly courteous, friendly and caring towards my father, and to other residents.
They all knew the names of the residents and, in the interactions I observed, were familiar and friendly, without being intrusive.
My father’s room was spotless and the whole of the Manor was luxurious and beautifully maintained.
The activities’ manager was enthusiastic and engaging: my father enjoyed the events held.
I had been rather anxious about how my father would respond to the Manor, as he wasn’t too keen to try living away from his home. However, the transition was made much easier and smoother by the professional attitude of the senior staff and carers, who had all informed themselves of his details prior to admission and got to know him in a short time.

Mum has been at The Manor since it opened at the end of 2018, my sisters and I have seen a big improvement in her mobility.S he doesn't have a big appetite but is eating and drinking more than when she was at home. She now has company when she wants to interact with the other residents and staff. The
staff look after her very well, and her multiple medications are given on time which she needs to be taken at specific times due to her complex needs. She enjoys the social activities when she feels up to attending. We think she is starting to think of The Manor as home which is a comfort to my sisters and me.

I would just like to say a big thank you to the home and caring staff for looking after my Mum after she came out of hospital following a fall. She improved very rapidly as a result of the professional attention she received.
We, her daughters, were also listened to and supported in a very stressful
situation.
Manor House is an amazing place, much more like a hotel than a Care Home, the rooms are vast and beautiful and the food special. This luxury won't suit everyone, but if you are in need of care and want to be spoiled then this could well be the place for you.

My mother went in for convalescence and made a decision to move in permanently. The home sets new standards for care and I always enjoy my visits seeing her so happy. Plenty to do and the staff are very caring and considerate. The ambience and design are first class.

As a former medical social worker, I was much involved in helping families assess the suitability of possible care homes for relatives. I have never discovered such a suitable care home as The Manor House. The quality of care is quite exceptional. Lovely spacious rooms, most attractive furnishings,
that make both myself and my visitors feel that I am more or less back at home. I enjoy the meals, the grounds are a pleasure to walk around, the flower beds, having been very attractively planted. Which as a keen gardener is very important to me.
The Carers are all exceptionally kind and very considerate. Lots of activities are provided. I have enjoyed the yoga classes and the knitting and natter get together. I feel l have made new friends since my admission. My family are delighted with how much better I am looking. I am so pleased that I have some of my personal possessions in my large sunny room.

Having been discharged from hospital, when I returned home (despite what I was told by hospital staff) I realised that I couldn't manage alone.
My family brought me to Harrogate (where most of them live) and then found Manor House. I have a temporary back injury which necessitates the use of crutches
and medication. I am otherwise fit and healthy. (I have never been in a hospital and am 66 years of age.)
Since I moved into Manor House I can only describe the experience as an absolutely first class from every aspect. The surroundings are beautiful and relaxing but in addition to that, the care, attention and understanding given by the staff are in my opinion, second to none. Compared to most, my needs are fortunately few, but those have been addressed in a timely, caring and extremely professional manner. If and when issues arise (be they large or small) there is always a listening and understanding ear and a quick resolution.

Upon our first visit, we instinctively knew it was perfect. The Manor House offers excellent care in a beautiful, calm, happy and caring environment. All staff are extremely dedicated, kind and highly professional. As residents settle you can see friendships evolving and a strong feeling of 'family'
growing. This has helped our mother with the smooth transition from home to 'care home'. Staff are always on hand for a chat offering reassurance, love and laughter. Diverse daily activities provide stimulation and nurture interests. On a practical level staff deal with all medical needs with compassion, respect and privacy and available to escort residents to a clinic, dental, medical appointments if needed.
The food is superb and the chefs offer an extremely varied and nutritious menu. Weekly visits from the local doctor, beautician, hairdresser promote independent living. We always feel very welcome and more to the point we enjoy visiting. I highly recommend The Manor House.

Mum moved into the Harrogate Manor very soon after it opened and it proved to be a lovely introduction to the world of care homes (being her first). It is very clean, spacious, and grand, and Mum was relieved to be warm, well-fed and well looked after. Despite the huge change from living in her own
home on her own in rural Wales to a care home in Harrogate, Mum settled in very quickly.
The team at Harrogate Manor are very professional, really warm and very caring. They worked extremely hard to get to know Mum quickly and work out her needs, likes and dislikes. They linked her up with likely new friends to help her settle which worked really well. I was amazed at how quickly Mum settled in.
The team also kept me well informed as to what was going on, and whenever my family and I visited, we were always made to feel very welcome. The only reason Mum has moved is to bring her closer to us (7 rather than 37 minutes away).

I have been a care home manager for ten years and have a Master’s Degree in Public Health. I have been the manager of The Manor House since 2017 - before it was built - and have overseen every step of the process to where we are now.


Each team member has been carefully selected based on their individual strengths and qualities, to ensure our residents receive the best level of care. I am proud to lead my enthusiastic, compassionate and diverse team of staff in delivering the highest standards in one of England's most luxurious care homes.

I have worked in the care industry since the age of 19. I was not aware at the time that I had found my vocation.


Throughout my 20 years of experience, I have evolved through various roles in a care setting from a care assistant to a deputy manager. I have been part of the team at The Manor House since we opened the doors in 2018 and I am thoroughly proud of being part of the foundations of this highly regarded care home and contributing to the quality standards we have set.

Paul Richardson-Mackie

Job Title: Chef Manager Joined: 2020

I have worked in various kitchens over a 22 year span and have learned many things along the way regarding how different kitchens work.


I love cooking and seeing people enjoying the food I have prepared for them, whether it be in a restaurant, a hotel, doing banquets and weddings, or for residents in a care home - where I currently work with Anchor.


My main focus is to ensure that all the food I prepare is done so with care, love and attention, ensuring my guests receive the best possible experience. I really enjoy face to face interactions with my guests and residents, as I feel it is important to get feedback on what I do and to build a rapport with the clientele.


I believe you have to be adaptable in your approach when it comes to food as everyone has different pallets. A care home environment is a wonderful place to be in as I am effectively coming into other people’s home and doing what I love both in and out of work.

I started my career with Anchor in 2018 as a quality assurance manager in this home I then became the deputy manager here before my current role. I have worked in the social care industry for 14 years and am very passionate about compliance and the delivery of great care.


My previous years of experience at The Manor House mean that I know the home and the team very well and am always happy to help.

I have been a member of The Manor House team for four and a half years. I take the lead role in the administration within the home and like to be organised!
