Bothwell Castle is a fantastic care home. Throughout these difficult times, every member of staff continues to provide exceptional care to all the residents. They are all so kind and compassionate, always treating my mum with dignity and going out of their way to help my mum feel better during these
unsettled months. The appointment of the new Dementia Enablement Lead has been an excellent addition to the outstanding team.

Our relative has been in the care for 18 months. It is a fantastic place she is happy, well cared for and we have peace of mind knowing she is safe. The staff are most caring and know the residents likes and dislikes, they make every effort to make it a home from home which they certainly have achieved.
We stay 70 miles away the staff often give us face time which is great, feel they really know us and keep us up to date with e-mails and phone calls. When we visit approximately every 3 weeks we are made very welcome. The entertainment at the home is wonderful really covers all tastes, every member of staff go the extra mile to keep the residents safe happy and healthy.

In the 15 months my husband has been in the home I have found him to be happy and very settled living there. To date, the care has been excellent. There have been a few issues in the past but they have been dealt with promptly. Overall I’m very happy with the care my husband receives.

My mum moved into this care home in January 2019 with dementia.
I have always found the staff to be extremely caring and helpful and very welcoming to myself and my family.
The home is always a joy to visit. Over the last few months, they have been excellent in keeping us in touch with our loved
ones.

Bothwell Castle team are the kindest and most considerate people. My mother spent the last 16 months of her life in the home. She had both dementia and lung cancer which combined could bring a lot of challenges. Every member of staff treated both my mother and our family as friends. The care and attention
she received was wonderful. They helped us celebrate every occasion even allowing us to have family parties in the facility when my mother could no longer go out due to her condition. The support we received during the more challenging times was also outstanding, and the attention to detail in everything is fantastic.
As this was essentially my mums home we could relax as a family there and nothing was ever a problem.
All the small things like the hairdressers and beautician on-site in a lovely salon, the entertainment and catering facilities make this a truly special facility that takes all facets of your loved ones care needs into consideration. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.662)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.662) out of 10 for Bothwell Castle is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.662 for Bothwell Castle is calculated as follows: ( (212 Excellents x 5) + (36 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (11 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 263 Ratings = 4.662
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bothwell Castle is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 75 registered maximum number of service users is 15, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
