I have been impressed with the Team. Very approachable and caring. I have felt welcomed as a visitor. The activities are very good which my mother enjoys along with companionship. The meals are good and the tables set out very nicely so much care and thought given to make it an enjoyable experience. Handley House is spacious and clean with choices of rooms to sit from the lounge to garden room, cinema, outdoor seating and garden. The staff are courteous and friendly respecting everyone as an individual. The recent Jubilee celebrations were outstanding and appreciated.
Our care team at Handley House will be so pleased to hear that you and your mother are happy with the care they’re providing – we’ll be sure to pass your comments along.
Very good care given and help when needed at the end of a button. All staff are very caring considering some of the problems they have to deal with.
Thank you for taking the time to review Handley House. It’s great to hear that you’re satisfied with the care our team provide – we really appreciate the feedback. Thank you.
My mum initially came to Handley House for respite care which has now been extended whilst we wait for arrangements to be made for full-time residential care. I would really like her to stay here as she has settled very well. The home is very clean and always smells fresh. The staff have spoken to me most days on the phone and are very kind, helpful and informative. The meals are varied and very good. The only reason I rated good for activities was because I haven't seen mum doing any activities yet.
Thank you for taking the time to leave this review. We really appreciate hearing such great feedback about our staff at Handley House, and the excellent care they provide to our residents. Our Activities Coordinators are always happy to organize any activity they can for our residents to enjoy, so...
I stayed at Handley House for two weeks after a hip replacement operation for respite care. All the staff were very caring, helpful and friendly. However, after my second day, Covid invaded the home, and all the various activities planned had to be cancelled. My room with ensuite was spacious, and I was able to walk around the terraced paths in the garden with two sticks. I would recommend Handley House. Some of my scores would have been higher without Covid.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of Handley House. We’re sorry to hear your visit was interrupted by the pandemic, but we’re glad to hear you were happy with our staff and our facilities. Thank you.
As a wheelchair user, I am in Handley House whilst my husband is in hospital. Unfortunately, I have had Covid and have been confined to my room for 10-days, so haven't; had any activities. The staff and management are excellent, very kind and helpful. I have had problems contacting my husband's hospital, and they have gone above and beyond kindness in getting me a phone on speaker. I find having my laptop in my room most useful. I miss having grab-handles, particularly in the bathroom, and find washing difficult.
Thank you for taking the take to leave this feedback for Handley House. We’re sorry to hear you haven’t been able to enjoy any of our activities, but please know our staff are committed to keeping all residents safe during the pandemic. It’s great to hear that our staff have done their best to help...
When my mother-in-law took a turn for the worse they helped with care and flexibility to ease our situation.
Where there were problems they offered solutions and we could not have been happier knowing our loved ones was getting the best care he could.

It reminded me of a 5-star hotel. The bedrooms are beautiful, very tastefully decorated.
I haven't put a review of the last four items as I have no knowledge of them. However, our friend that we visited was very happy with the food and drinks and activities.
Thank you so much for your feedback. At Handley House, all of our spaces are designed with residents in mind and we always want our residents to feel safe, secure and at home. We’re so pleased to hear that you and your friend are happy with the care at Handley House. Thank you.
Dad moved into Handley House n the middle of a lockdown. It was an incredibly upsetting and difficult time. The care and love he received was outstanding. His personality was understood and his needs were met. He always said the people were faultless and kind and I could see he had fun with all his carers. He was looked after to the very end and I am very grateful to all at Handley House.

My father was a resident for two years, he always commented on how lovely the staff were. They always treated him with such kindness and compassion. I cannot praise the staff enough. It seems such a lovely happy environment and the residents are treated to many interesting activities. Most of all I have witnessed such wonderful care from some exceptional carers. Thank you.

In this most difficult of times, the care of my mum has been brilliant. They (the staff) have also looked after me when I have been sad at not being able to visit her properly. Knowing that she is being looked after so well gives me peace of mind. Thank you.

It makes so much difference to be able to spend time with my husband in his room he was recently 90 and even with restrictions, the staff were able to make it special - much appreciated.

Great place, took my mum and her 14 year old dog in at short notice. Lovely and friendly staff. Really supportive to me as a daughter as I've found this all really hard.

My mum is always telling me how lovely the staff are and particularly enjoys all of the activities that are put on to entertain. It has been an extremely difficult time for personal contact but the staff have risen admirably to the challenge.

My dad moved into Handley House in April during the lockdown. We had looked around the home in February and Dad loved the spacious corridors, friendly atmosphere and range of activities and social spaces on offer. After a few weeks, Dad settled in really well, he loves the food and says the carers are all very nice. The home have been fantastic in enabling safe visiting and putting photos and videos of activities online which is very reassuring to see the residents looking so happy. The staff have really taken the time to get to know my dad's likes and interests. My dad is happy and well looked after.

I have always found Handley House to be warm and friendly with lovely staff who are very caring.

My mother is settled and very content. The facilities including her room are lovely and clean. The staff are unfailingly kind and competent. By a combination of good luck and careful management, they have no Covid cases in the home. My main issue is the lack of feedback on how mum is doing day to day e.g sleep patterns is mum eating and drinking properly? interaction with staff and other residents? participating in activities? have there been any visitors? have parcels arrived etc. This arises because of the distance 200 miles I live from the home the necessary prohibition on visits by relatives and mum's very poor short term memory caused by dementia which means a chat with mum on the telephone conversation cannot reliably explain what has been happening to her.
